There's a fair amount of 1986 missing, but yes, that's my last memory of him - I think he and Speed are in their diner or whatever they were doing and were happy.

There's a good chance he'll end up dead, which is calming, in a way.

That's such a great tagline. I love the red shoes too. I wonder if that was Eileen's idea as she seemed to be involved with her wardrobe. I can hear her saying, "Just call me Dorothy." I do like Jay - as you said, he was cute, even if not the greatest actor. I understand why Marland wrote him out, even if it was only a half-exit (he was still living in Oakdale with that Speed woman [what was her actual name?] who must have escaped from Lujack's old gang), but I might have just had him in Kevin's role. I know they had the whole Marie backstory, which was pivotal in driving Frannie closer to Douglas Cummings, but they could have invented a past lady for Jay too.

Thanks for uploading those great scenes. I suppose they moved Alex away because they knew she wouldn't be viable in that state. The question is, while Tonja was very charismatic, sexy, etc. was there really a need for Alex in what she became once they toned her down. She does have some fun moments from about 1992-1994, but I'm not sure.

And they said the same thing then! They are rich and none of this will affect them, or so they think.

ARTICLE: Soaps Need To “Get Back To Couples,” Says ‘General Hospital’ Stars Genie Francis & Maurice Benard (EXCLUSIVE)
I agree with you both as I think this is what leads to the lack of believable couples. GH has gotten a little better at the family element but character work, motivation, is still not there. In GH's case it's puzzling because you do have well liked couples who are stifled or actively hated by the show. I suppose the call should be - get weird agendas out of production decisions. Genie has plenty of experience dealing with those.

Welcome back @Maxim and thanks for the great writeup and clip. They really did have it out for Sarah or for Grace Philips anyway. She probably deserved better, but the character never should have been brought back or should have just returned long enough for Megan's death then she and Bo realized they'd both moved on. The scene with Cassie and Bo is very interesting. He's very patronizing toward her, calling her "kid" and telling her that she can be fine now because she was never going to be good enough anyway. I think it underscores the age gap between them which the writing otherwise did not address, IIRC. The scene also helps clarify Andrew/Cassie for me. I do think Cassie loved Andrew, but something has always felt a little rushed about their relationship, and a little performative on Cassie's part. We see here how much of the relationship is built on Cassie's insecurities and just wanting to actually be wanted by a man, especially a saintly man who would not do to her what Bo did.

Thanks @Xanthe TV by Day did run a while so I got that wrong, but at least the interview is still with us, even if it's not the one being mentioned.

It hasn't. They did put up an old clip of her.

Mack lost all humor and just became constant judgment. And I never forgave him for making Laura's death all about himself. The Jason story in season 12 was his best in years. Karen I just found to be ossified by this point and really missing anyone who could balance her out. You're right that they did will they/won't they too often with Greg and Paige. The show likely knew if they got together, they'd never stay together. A young male rival or son for him would have been interesting.

Yes. I have a special disdain for the pundits and centrists in the press who insisted they would never get rid of the ACA because the public had gotten used to it. The GOP and Trump don't care about that (the same reason they will also ban gay marriage within the next few years). They want to destroy everything tied to Obama or to any progress. They hate this country, they hate us, they hate each other. They only want death and despair.- Primetime Soaps
No problem. There are a few others too that are up in parts elsewhere. I was surprised as I thought the show only ran two episodes for some reason. Hopefully they'll be put up in full on that channel.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
He would have been good as Richard, I agree, if a little old for the Cassie pairing. He would have made sense with Reva. You're right, but I do wish they'd gotten to live on a little longer through ATWT and GL. Irna did love crossovers. I know the idea is they took time away from vets, but it's not as if vets were dominant by this time anyway. As Penny said in her 1998 visit - "Who ARE these people?"- The Politics Thread
All of this became inevitable when Trump won and voters gave Republicans the Senate and the House. This is what a majority of the public wanted. They were warned, again and again. This is the end result. They can't blame anyone but themselves. It's not both sides bad. It's Republicans and the cult who loves them. They have sent us all to hell and they don't deserve a free pass. No more centrist equivocation.- Primetime Soaps

Thanks. I'd imagine Peggy. She would have been a strong Peggy.- ARTICLE: ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Icon Maree Cheatham Guest Stars On ‘Matlock’
Love Maree. She's an inspiration to us all in work ethic. The nun comparison photo is neat.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I thought Cass was alright. I wouldn't have minded seeing him more often. He never quite felt like himself on ATWT but then he wouldn't. I'm sure Stephen would work on soaps if asked. He's been on DAYS a few times this year and last year.- GH: November 2025 Discussion Thread
It would stand out for me more if there were other romances burning up GH, but it's a show-wide problem. I think they will eventually put him back with Willow anyway. Hopefully Maurice will show up. Honestly, I'm surprised they've gone on as long as they have with "dark Drew."- DAYS: November 2025 Discussion Thread
This reminds me of how much the Will/EJ stuff annoyed me at the time. It felt very cynical because they could have winking and nodding they knew would never go anywhere, using it as an excuse to rush through Will exploring his sexuality. This, and how much I disliked the contrivance of trying to recreate Sami seeing John/Marlena having sex in him finding EJ/Sami (imagine if that story had just amounted to Sami shouting "whore" to Marlena 50 times), are probably why I don't have the nostalgia for that era of Will I know many do. (there was also the choice to have such a passionate sex scene for Gabi and Will after his coming out, which made me wonder how many at the show regretted the gay storyline, although they did know it was too late to go back [and bisexual men do not exist on American soaps])- Another World Discussion Thread
Oh it may be. Sorry - it's all a muddle today.- Another World Discussion Thread
I remember that. I think I may have scanned it, although the photos are likely dead now. It was one of those short-lived magazines. My scans are on an old computer but I will try to find them eventually (if someone else has them - thanks!) @j swift Thank you for sharing that link. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the same interview, just haven't listened to most of it. - The Politics Thread
