  1. That was one of my favorite parts - it was very old fashioned in tone yet also felt revolutionary. A reminder of what Gloria Monty brought to the show. Sorry to not tag you - couldn't remember if you watched a lot of older GH.
  2. Eesh. I never knew that. I think the only thing I know about him is that in real life he was married to the woman who played Susan Moore (wasn't he?). I know so little about most of what Gina or Mark did outside of Mark's initial story with Terri Webber.
  3. I saw Peter Blake trending on Twitter a day or two ago but assumed it was some other Peter Blake. Clearly not. It will be nice to see Dan Gauthier back on daytime again. And if they are keeping Kristen then at least this will be something new for her. If they insist on having Stacey play Susan I wish they'd just go all the way and have her play Mary Moira or Thomas, just to see Peter reacting to that nonsense.
  4. I would agree it was better than what we got after. It was a fascinating, very awkward hybrid. I was probably harsher to it at the time than I would have been if I had known what was to come, but some aspects, like the way Blair was treated (don't want to give too much away), I will never support. I do appreciate their attempts at social awareness and reviving the moribund black cast.
  5. I was shocked at the heavy amount of Alan and Monica as the episode chugged along, especially that lengthy flashback (I loved the effect of seeing it through Monica's eyes). As @Franko mentioned this as the first week of hour long episodes, I guess this was to help fill time. I'm very glad we got that as a choice of flashback instead of Mark Dante's forbidden love, or whatever was going on there. This is by far the most Alan and Monica content we've had of them at such an early stage of their relationship. As others have said, it is also so true to who they'd remain, even if the bile isn't there yet. I was also happy to see Anna Stuart, however briefly. Her accent doesn't seem as hoity-toity as her Donna Love accent, which makes sense. Also kind of fun to hear Laura telling Scotty he's sexy...a shame what the show later did to that relationship.
  6. Lamont Corbin...wealthy businessman.. George E. Carey 77 . ..William Bryant 78 @slick jones In the GH episode from January 16th-20th, 1978 that just went on Youtube, I think Carey is still playing Lamont.
  7. Thank you for posting that @SoapDope78 and for the all important date @Franko So nice to see rare treats from this timeframe. @vetsoapfan @slick jones @Vee @titan1978 @carolineg @Paul Raven @detroitpiston @MissPalmer @Bright Eyes @Liberty City @prefab1 @Khan @AMCOLTLLover @j swift @Jdee43 @TEdgeofNight @Khan @MontyB @BadBoy93 @victorlord75 @AdelaideCate007 @janea4old @BetterForgotten @Antoyne @jam6242 @dc11786@AbcNbc247 @ranger1rg @depboy @FrenchFan @Taoboi @dragonflies you may be interested in this too (if you haven't already seen it)
  8. @Mitch64 With all the talk of whether Brent-as-Marian was based on JFP I thought this was interesting. I never really saw it before but with the longer hair I can see it.
  9. If you watch long enough this will not be the last time OLTL is a bit too fascinated with hand and mouth action under a table. @mar4331 is probably right...but...if you last that long I'd be fascinated with your take on the very strange Labines era of spring 1997-early 1998.
  10. Thanks so much @slick jones for documenting the big losses of recent weeks. I never knew Sally was on GH. Didn't know Brock Jamison was blind now either. I remember him posting some thoughts years ago after Terri Vandenbosch passed away. Not sure why I thought that character was named Speed instead of Spree...
  11. Linda Dano and Mark Consuelos on Rosie. Lots of 9/11 talk.
  12. I wouldn't call AMC very staid in that timeframe. They just weren't good at making that type of material work for their audience.
  13. Luckily you are a long way off from those two.
  14. Neither have I. Kamar was very beautiful then. If only he and Doug Wert could have translated viewers based on pretty points, but that was not a CBS audience...
  15. I thought Rex epitomized all the failings of men on soaps for the '00s (and the '90s). Nasty, self-righteous, cold, lacking chemistry with anyone. The only difference was his being an aged out twink.
  16. I don't think Luna was disliked by the audience, although she was likely never as popular with them as she was with Michael Malone. Even he stopped writing for her long before Susan Batten left. I think Luna would have worked best in a mode similar to Sally Gracie's character. Max wasn't even that special for her to be degraded over, especially as she was a second choice. It would be like if Jackson on AMC had dumped Erica for Opal.
  17. The funniest part of Korte's issues, real, alleged, what have you, is that Carly is pretty much useless to the canvas these days. Even Sonny has more connections thanks to his many kids and grandkids and Laura's adoration.
  18. Turn your volume down before you watch these. Blown out.
  19. I think Sasha had much more interesting relationships on the canvas than Jacinda does. If the actress didn't want to leave, then I guess this was just a salary dump as Jacinda has little to offer. I saw someone talking about how another soap has started having lengthy recaps and they think it's down to "second screen syndrome" with people busy doing something else. I'm not sure if that's the case with GH or just endless filler because this is a show that doesn't justify five episodes a week of 35 minutes with their current programming. The comparison between Carly and Britt is interesting in that they both do tend to bulldoze through scenes. At her best Carly had an inner life. Britt never has, although I think KT is a little better now than she was in her early years.
  20. The final three episodes.
  21. His shooting Carly in the head or his shooting Dante.
  22. I am trying to remember if she even has an oncamera exit or if she is just written out.
  23. That's a great way of putting it. You'd think Portia repeating her mistakes with her latest pregnancy would cause huge ructions with Trina when the truth comes out, but even if the baby survives, we'll probably get a shrug.
  24. This must be around May, June or July 1989. I think many actors don't want to rock the boat. On Coronation Street, a character said he didn't know what it was like to lose a child. Many viewers complained, as he had lost a child to a stillbirth. The actor said he tried to speak up but they told him to just read the line. I do respect the likes of Liz Hubbard who ad-libbed that she had "three daughters" over a decade after the show forgot one of her daughters had ever existed, but most of the time that isn't allowed or just doesn't happen.
  25. Thanks. I didn't realize Cenedella was back. I can see where he may have wanted to go back to basics. Beyond Jingles, the story of the servant trying to ruin the heroine was also a story he did with Pat and Rue McLanahan.
