Every soap dropped except GL. I'd say that's good news for GL. I'd even venture to say that, given its budget vs those of the other, more expensively-produced shows, and how close its ratings are next to OLTL and AMC, that the ol' gal just may stick around for a while.

Sorry, guys, I couldn't resist pulling out this one...

No offense intended to GL or fans of GL...

None taken at all. When P&G posted a blog entry saying preemption happens here, that was the EXACT message I wanted to leave them... but I didn't.

Soap returns don't work anymore, find me a return, other than Vanessa Marcil, that's paid off in the ratings over the past 10 years?

GL staying the same in households and 18-49 is good, but the days of soaps rising significantly are over, deal with it.

You are right, big splashy returns never work and never really have. However, perhaps it's some weird newfound optimism that I've found, but this is potentially great news. Although I think we all were hoping for some big jump, a one-week splurge means nothing. Nada. But if the show can continue to improve (and make no mistake, there are several areas in which it NEEDS to improve), then I can see the show rising gradually. In fact, considering that we are at a 1.7 heading into March sweeps could be quite good for the show if they can keep it up. Will they? That's for another time. But some of the rumblings have me guardedly hopeful.

BTW: In a related note, what IDIOTS the Neilson Co. are for moving the sweeps to March, when typically most shows slump in the ratings, daytime included. If GL can rise in these conditions, that would be an incredible feat.

GL Holding Steady at 1.7 is great. Let's just hope they continue to build on that and keep delivering good writing. Eventually David Kreizman's remaining stories will be phased out and JLH will have a firm grip on the writing. With Mindy and Michelle returning and others in the works GL might have fighting chance to survive to 2010.

Don't worry. They are recasting Michelle.

We will never have to deal with the likes of St. Alban again...

I'm going to take it as good. biggrin.gif

We all knew that the ratings would probably drop after they'd been up for two weeks - a lot in part due to horrendous weather for many parts of the US. GL seems to have held on to the majority of the audience it gained during that period while others dropped off. If the writing continues with how its been for these past few weeks, then GL will continue to get positive coverage and in turn, that will hopefully bring in more new and returning viewers.

I'd wait to see that one in print. It sounds too out there for me. HOWEVER, I have heard of another POSSIBLE return, as in the actor was called.

Oh, and GL walked right into my joke with their tacky promotional campaign, and for that, I certainly have no apologies to make.

I'm not watching, just noting...I think people have been commenting on a creative resurgence for GL...not just a "big return". So the hopes were pinned more to better writing than they were to a specific actor. But I could be wrong....

It equally ludicrous IMO to believe that a recent creative resurgence would pay off in the ratings almost immediately. These things either take time, or don't happen at all.

LMAO it's bad when they don't even mention AMC in that press release

I don't know how much longer they can give Pratt before AMC is at GL level ratings

All these returns make me wanna cry, could I finally be getting my dear old friend GL back?

ARGH these ratings are depressing. The only bright spot is GL, the little train that could, holding steady. I hope the audience continues to build the same way DAYS has done (oddly).

What an awesome improvement! Remember when those days would average 1.4, 1.5? And 1.6 would be the best day? Looks like 1.8 is now the best day. Things are looking good and I'm very happy for the show.

Thanks Toups!
