AMC: May Want Liza To Visit?

  • Member

I saw in the latest issue of SOD with Maurice Benard on the cover in the casting about section that AMC has put out a feeler to Marcy Walker to reprise her role as Liza Colby to re-introduce Colby to the canvas.

Considering Marcy's change in career and being vocal about it, that surprised me. If she doesn't accept, I wonder if Liza will just be written out completely or if AMC will risk another short-term Liza recast? Maybe Alice Haining (Liza #2) could come back. But since she was a redhead and looks nothing like Ambyr Childers, maybe not. LOL!

I guess we'll see!

I wouldn't want a quick re-cast Liza...and unfortunately I really don't think Marcy will come back even for a voice-over on the phone. :(

She'll end up being killed in a car accident or something. That is my guess and really that's the only way to do it. I don't want a recast and if Marcy is not willing to come back then I say cut your losses and kill the character off screen.

Yes it is authentic. The same statement has been received by many.

I think a new recast needs to be done since Walker (Smith) does not want to return. The Casting Director made a mistake with Alice Haining. She was not right, but there are plenty of performers out there who can handle the role. Until Michael Knight and Catherine Hickland were announced as divorcing, I always felt she would have been good.

I always felt Mary Beth Evans would have been good too, but DAys has her now. My next choice would be to lure Lindsay Frost back to daytime. I think she would make a great Liza.

I agree a new re-cast permanent Liza needs to be done since Marcy Walker Smith (whom I love and am so sad to leave acting) very likely won't come back. I agree that Cat Hickland would be a good Liza, although she may be too old. Maybe Tara would be a better fit fot Cat.

I agree that Lindsay Frost would be a good Liza.

LoL, I agree.

Poor Marcy got suckered into devoting her life to Ch-rap.

:o Working for God in Church isn't crap! My God. I'm not very religious, but I respect one's calling to work for God. And from the Marcy interview I saw, she felt it was a calling to minister to children. Gopd for Marcy who's doing something far more important than entertaining us with great acting. That said I will miss Marcy Walker on televison as she's one of my all-time favorite daytime actresses.

I think Liza can be used properly IF another head-writing regime were to put her on contract and write a good story.

Catherine Hickland would make a good Liza recast. Other actresses?

Beth Chamberlin(Beth, GL)

Beth Ehlers(Harley, GL P.S. Isn't her contract up soon?)

Jensen Buchanan(ex-Vicky, AW)

Shannon Sturges(ex-Molly, DAYS)

Would I ever post something fake? I hate having to defend myself, but this letter is 100% real. I e-mailed Marcy a while ago and asked if I could still send her a picture to autograph. She said ok. I sent here one of my postcards and got this in response:

MarcyWalker03-15-06.jpg

It also came with this card. It made my heart sink.

No, AMCHistory. I didn't mean to suggest that. I just meant her publicist needs to get HER act together. That card still has me pissed... <_<

Ohhh I think Catherine Hickland would be awesome as a Liza recast - I never thought about her...but with her and MEK on the out and divorced...don't see it happening. Wouldn't you just LOVE to see Catherine mixing it up with David Canary and Bobbie Eakes though? Throw in Cady McClain - Catfights galore!

The last thing this show needs is McTavish's Liza back. I always loved Liza/Marcy except when McTavish got a hold of her in 98 and made her a baby-obsessed wimp...and then again when McTavish came back in 2003 and made her act like a jealous schoolgirl.

McTavish had the exact same problem with Liza that she had with Greenlee and I don't want either back under her.

That said, does anyone else think Faith Ford would be a great Liza re-cast? I've always thought so

Kristina Wagner would be a good Liza, but I don't see that happening

Kristina Wagner was the first person that came to mind for me also, it would be nice to see her on a SOAP again too.......I've never really been a regular viewer of GH, but when I tuned in when Kristina was on; she always seemed like a good actress.....

Kristina Wagner might be good as Liza, not sure. I think GL's Beth Chamberlin would be good. Jensen Buchanan might work. GL's Beth Ehlers and Faith Ford both would be horrible as Liza, about as bad as Alice Haining was. Haining will go down as one of the worst re-casts in daytime history IMHO.

Kristina Wagner's problem is that she's from LA and probably wouldn't want to uproot the kids. Plus it might mess up any type of custody agreement with Jack. But I would love to see her on ANY soap. :(

Well didn't Frons get rid of her at GH... so I doubt she'd come back to an ABC soap. Which is a shame. Friggin Frons. He is probably a big reason why Marcy was turned off dayime :( glad she has found something she enjoys and sounds like its a great rewarding experiance for her.

I don't know- I'm not so quick to dismiss it. Once an actor, always an actor and though Marcy may be devoted to the Ministry, who's to say she wouldn't consider a short-term return? With Dixie back on the canvas, there is HUGE potential for story. I thought toward the end of her run, they were teasing a David/Liza pairing which I thought would've been a fabuloso idea. Can you imagine a Liza/David/Dixie/Tad quad? Now that's a Dixie return story I could get behind, instead of Dr Demento the spermologist crap we're getting now.

It's a pipe dream, yes I know, but if Kenny can have his Eileen DAYS dreams, can't I have my Marcy ANY SOAP dream too? Please God? (crosses fingers)

ETA: If they were to recast, I think Beth Chaimberlain would be ideal. She's a perfect fit for the role IMO.

I hope that Marcy Walker Smith could be persuaded to return full-term, and not just short-term. But I don't think that's happening anytime soon. I think juniorz, you're right that Beth Chamberlin would make the best Liza. Since she doesn't have a contract, I hope ABC offers her one to play Liza Colby and GL will lose their Beth! Maybe then GL could persuade Judi Evans to go back to GL and leave DAYS as the trashy Bonnie.

That would be great anytime once Colby gets to town. But I wouldn't count on it. But it would be a great surprise
