Pretty much every female character is a dud right now if we’re being honest. They’re all getting the Avery treatment (just vanilla and dull). Wasn’t JG the one who pushed Avery to the forefront? Why does he like to write boring women?

With the exception of Phyllis, no female on this show is allowed to have a personality.

Oh I actually liked Avery! She had a sense of social justice, not just a generic fashion/business girl.

Sally is the same character as Chloe/Chelsea/Audra.

Just what CBS soaps need, another offscreen university! I guess they collab with Vernon teaching Zoom classes, all referred to over drinks at Society or Orphey Gene's. Such amazing synergy!

  • Joshua Morrow has found that happy medium between six pack and dad bod.

So, that right there is saying something if you can point out certain personality traits from a character who most believed (let’s just be honest) was boring and lifeless. Characters used to actually have a personality, even the ones who sucked. Imagine that.

Who is Claire? Who is Audra? Who is Sally? I honestly don’t know at this point. They all seem totally interchangeable

I had to look it up. Avery was introduced in 2011 by Maria Arena Bell.

Josh Griffith wrote her in 2012-2013, followed by Altman and Passanante until 2015 when Chuck Pratt wrote her out.

Jessica Collins gave Avery most of what was there. They tried very hard to push her early on IIRC and fans were not having it, but they liked Collins who worked hard and she won some people earlier. I liked her more than I liked Avery, but I always enjoyed watching her.

The BTS drama with her exit re: Pratt's story for her is what I most remember today. Any soap would be lucky to have JC.

Yes but 2013 was the year (I think) when Avery got that townhouse, they paired her with Nick. She started to become a more front burner character. Up until that point she was just a lawyer who showed up when Sharon or someone else needed one. Much like Christine and Michael. This was around the time I started getting Avery fatigue

Oh, I agree with you that Griffith ruined the character.

The Victor and Nikki renewal ceremony was a fail.

Any emotion they were reaching for was lost because we've all seen how terrible Victor has treated Nikki for months. She was worse than trash to him as he threw her out of the house.

Now we hear toasts about their forever love affair that will last until the end of time?

Miss me with that.

Oh, and Nicholas leaving rehab for this mess was stupid writing, too.

Has anyone ever mentioned Avery since her departure? Were she and Phyllis on good terms?

What I remembered about Avery was that she was Phyllis's karma and definitely snatched 'her man' Nick. And I cheered her on all the way.

Then they turned her into Susie Homemaker before I stopped watching.

I do believe she and Phyllis did end on good terms before she left. And I believe she's been mentioned at least once over the years since.

I hope Jamey is having a good first week at Y&R! Please bring our beloved characters back to being people we recognize. I have some faith he may be able to pull it off. And well, because..

Next week 👀

Kyle and Victoria are about to kiss. Hurry up Jamey & Dan, we need you to put a stop to this 😭😭😭😭😭

-- This "Jill has a Chancellor secret" story is already so bad that Billy Flynn is laughing through his lines.

-- Billy has 50 year old boxes of files PILED UP IN HIS LIVING ROOM so he can sus out the secret -- a secret no one would care about except that JG tells us to care about it?

It's all so pathetic, and we know it's going nowhere.

-- I also have to laugh at the idea of these great media companies being based in WISCONSIN. 😂

-- Josh knows we're tired of Victor vs Jack, so instead he gives us Adam vs Billy. What 🗑️🗑️🗑️.

Kyle and Victoria NO!!!

NO to another Abbott/Newman romance that inevitably causes friction b/w Victor/Jack

NO to Kyle getting involved with a woman old enough to be his mother

NO to Victoria getting involved with a man who was involved with her daughter and married to her niece.

Victoria's relationships under Josh were the marriage to Ashland that ended up with him dead. There were years of story to be mined from that marriage, especially with Victoria who had been through so many marriages. She needed something to stick for a while.

Then Cole was brought back through the godawful Clare reveal, but it made sense. Cole/Victoria could have had a semi back burner relationship with some inevitable crises-he gets a job offer out of town, commitment issues, a relationship from his past etc but instead he's killed off.

On and off hints at a romance with Nate that went nowhere.

After over 30 years of being prominent Victoria needs to be a more supporting character.

Gosh they totally tanked all my interest in Avery when she abruptly became as you called it Susie Homemaker.

Joan Griffith wrecked her character.
