Random thoughts on the latest episodes:

I’m not a fan of disaster events on soaps. I’m not particularly interested in watching two characters get trapped together in a closet or some random room. That said, I am interested in the aftermath - provided the consequences actually stick around for a while. The fact that nobody died already bothers me. These writers seem way too attached to their characters.

The production values were excellent. I really liked the green-screen work for Victor’s arrival. Did anyone else notice the reflection of the helicopter on Vernon’s black van?

Episode 104 (if I’m remembering correctly)- the one where the residents of Fairmont Crest were socializing with the Genoa City crowd at the Country Club - didn’t really work for me. It felt like a nonstop Y&R trivia session. There was no real emotional build-up or sense of a crescendo.

I don’t like Dani and Bill together, but characters should drive us a little crazy. That’s part of the fun. I’ll take that over the usual eatery roundabout any day.

Am I imagining things, or does Madame Vanessa seem a lot more committed to monogamy in this relationship? She was so modern and free-spirited when she was with Doug…

And as always, Naomi remains the worst-dressed character on the show and you can always count on her to have the worst wig 😅

John Lindstrom's Jack Abbott would have been written out during his first year.

Joey Armstrong (I really hate the name for this character) should have been charming, sexy and more... interesting.

Another exciting episode.

Injured Andre is very hot.

Nobody bothered to tell the Tomas actor that they were filming a disaster story. And he didn't bother to act during the group scenes, he was just standing there.

Fairmont Crest Kyle is cute and this is the first time I found Hayley interesting.

Toxic couples like Bill and Dani are part of the soap fabric and that's ok.

Shanice ended up becoming Ted's rather boring lady friend. They ruined everything that made the character fun at first.

Sometimes we complain that the Duprees don't have any real drama with each other, but I find it refreshing. Most of the times family ties exist in soaps in order to have dramatic love triangles.

These episodes force me to continue watching on a regular basis from now on.

I dont know. The helicopter definitely said Newman Enterprises so it only makes sense that its his private helicopter. Why would he just have one randomly in DC unless hs is in DC regularly? It would be different if it werent a rental. And the fact that he was able to get out of DC so quick to get back to GC only works if he has his own transportation. That in and of itself doesnt make sense bc no pilot is going to be cleared to fly with an tornado

I'd love to see Hayley on Y&R for a while, but isn't she basically the same character as Sally and Audra? Those two have essentially been diluted and the same thing would happen to Hayley.

I hope Andre and Ashley don't get back together. I've just assumed Ashley and Grayson will work their ways back to each other.

I like the push and pull with Dani and Bill but absolutely don't want them back together. What would be the purpose? They've both proven they are toxic people...and even more so with each other. It wouldn't lead to anything. They are hardly a supercouple to root for.

I think what I said at some point last year is that I expect he could/should be gone sometime in 2027 or previously, by '27. The latter option is unlikely atm, but I do still think he has a ticking clock on him, especially after what happened to Doug. YMMV.

I do think MVJ has always been charmed by Jon Lindstrom and obviously wanted to create a role for him. A tale as old as time in soaps with EPs/HWs tbh, so it doesn't faze me that much. I just don't have an issue with that here as much as some do. I'm not tremendously interested in Joey and his role is definitely kludged into place in some areas, nor will I claim to be exactly gripped by the Armstrong family backstory. But it's not the endless Hayley poisoning saga and he's at least getting up to things, so I find him to be the least of some of the show's lingering problems atm. Which brings me partially to my next point.

I have no issues with Colby this week. She's always been a star. It's the dialogue that she sometimes struggles with because frankly a lot of the dialogue on this show can be stilted and need work.

Near the beginning of the June 9 BTG episode, Victor was on BTG but on what looked like a Y&R set (?) He's in his tuxedo and talking on his phone, as he pushes an elevator button. He says "I'll be touching down at the DMV shortly." The elevator door opens, and he gets in while telling the person on the phone "Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing my friends at Fairmont Crest. Well, you know the Duprees, they throw a hell of a party. I am looking forward to a great night, yeah."

My imagination/guess would be that Victor's private pilot flew him on the Newman jet directly to a private airfield in the DMV area, where Victor has a Newman Enterprises helicopter stored, and his staff was told ahead of time to prepare to fly him via that helicopter from the private airfield to Fairmont Crest.
On Y&R, Cane has a private train on every continent, so I can imagine Victor having a fleet of Newman helicopters in major cities.
Victor bribes people to do whatever, so I'd bet he would pay the helicopter pilot a huge bonus(bribe) to get him out of Fairmont Crest in a hurry, despite the tornado.

Is the picture of Victor getting into an elevator, is that a Y&R set filmed in LA and spliced into BTG? or is it supposed to be a hotel hallway somewhere ?

-- Re: all the discussion about Victor and the helicopter, and flying in and out of FC. The truth is that all of this could have been cleared up with a line or two of dialogue.

I don't think we should have to offer tortured explanations to get a character from A to B, you know? Even if those explanations make sense. The writers should do better. They actually made things worse by branding the helicopter with the Newman Enterprises logo.

-- I agree with @Vee about the stilted dialogue on the show. Sometimes I think there's too much effort to work in pop cultural references and slang rather than to make the dialogue conversational.

This week was really exciting. I will give BTG that. Considering the difficulties soaps face with budgets, the show pulled this tornado story off really well from a visual perspective.

However, I am curious why now? I know sweeps aren't a thing like they used to be, but this torando felt more like a sweeps story than the cotillion. Also, Martin's political stuff hasn't exactly been shown and we've been subjected to a mention here or there about writing speeches or speaking to constituents. I felt like a build on Martin's political career and some big drama surrounding that would have made more sense with doing a crossover with YR and then having this tornado upend all of it. It would make sense that Martin won or was running a senate campaign that would interest someone like Victor in another state, especially if he had business in the DMV to come out and support. But for a congressional district seat?

I enjoyed reading everyone's theories about Kat and Eva, but I have to agree that I am hoping it doesn't lead to some paternity reveal.

I think everyone was on their A game. I am hoping that next week really continues to develop everything that we saw this week.

Why the tornado was done now? I believe these eps were filmed in January. Not long before the renewal notices come out? I wonder if TPTB were trying to show there were things coming up that were big and could gain more eyeballs, so keep giving them a chance to grow. I'm just throwing something out there. I really have no idea.

I finally got to watch, and it was everything some people said it was.

Bill and Dani doing the horizontal hustle in the elevator brought back memories of other characters getting stuck together and doing the do.

Ed and Claire - Guiding Light

Blair and Todd - One Life to Live

Lily and Holden - As the World Turns

These characters wound up pregnant though.

I don't think Dani age has been established but if we go by Karla Mosley real age (45 in August), it's possible Dani could have a who's the daddy storyline.

That is an understatement. Sometimes it's amazing they fit in any plot between the Duprees patting themselves on the back.
