Today was mostly about Titan.

As clunky and slow moving as this storyline gets sometimes, I do like the way that so many characters and their individual storylines are tied together through it. The more layers/dynamics, the better lol. Kate was really back in her element today too, both with Gabi, and then with Philip and Xander. I liked the way she took control, and, from a character perspective, I find the position that she and Xander are in pretty interesting as well; at odds with each other about the lawsuit but both feeling the same way about confessing to the people that they love. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when the truth finally comes out. Kate asking Ari to basically continue to be an unwitting spy at Dimera could lead to something interesting happening as well. I think we just need to see her actually working there.

As unnecessary as Destiny was, I am starting to find the mystery of her death kind of interesting. It's nice seeing Brady in PI mode. And bringing Liam into this mystery could be the shot in the arm that this all needs. I wouldn't mind Ari becoming involved in this either, especially if she ends up being the one who finds him and brings him back to Salem, which would lead to her finding out about Gabi paying him off. And, we got confirmation that Liam is Ivy's son!

As for the Dimeras... Skip

The big standout for me was also the explicit tie between Liam and the 80s Selejkos! Until now, it's just kind of been shorthand for "poor family with gang ties." But now we know that he is Ivy's son.

I don't get why Xander and Kate can't just... drop the lawsuit. Why do they have to admit they set Johnny up? I know it's part of Xander's therapy or whatever, but it feels silly that they "have to" say they planned this. Just say you don't feel it's worth the fight and don't want to harm Johnny, the end.

I am not even sure what Xander and Kate are suing for? The book was never released and there aren't any profits to go after. No one except a few people in Salem even read it. They could easily come to an agreement with Bonnie/Dimera and make sure the book is never released. All the handwringing over something that is so small stakes and relatively easy to fix is silly.

Honestly, Xander should get a new therapist. Kate's not wrong lol.

The Liam tie to Ivy was said so casually by Sarah. I thought Liam mentioned his parents help him watch his son and he lived with them until recently? Has Ivy been in Salem this whole time lol?

Liam did previously mention his parents helping him with his son.

Okay, but is today the first time Ivy's name was mentioned?

I have no idea why I'm excited about this, because it will likely go nowhere. But I'm okay with feeling intrigued about it for now, even if it ends up being disappointing later on.

As we've mentioned on prior threads, it would (theoretically) have had more impact if Liam is Mike's and they bring back Jeremy later. But also as we've mentioned on prior threads, Liam cannot be a Horton if he gets involved with Arianna Horton.

Well regardless, I'm interested. Especially since the elder Theo (Abe's brother) helped Bo go after the Selejko gang.

About to watch another boring and awful episode because Cwiclee and Fourd wrote it, because they're horrible, right? If only the writer (licks arsehole) were still around (licks arsehole some more), we would be in the (licks more) top ten.

Yes. I mean, well, since 1988 or whenever lol.

I don't think Sarah explicitly said Ivy's name. She did it in a roundabout way. She told Brady that her family has a connection to Liam, via her sister Melissa, who is step-mother to Liam's half-brother Charlie, lol.

Oh, yeah. You are right. It actually might have been easier to understand if Sarah did say Ivy's name. Well, I guess we know Pete is not his father lol.

Ivy Selejko Jannings was played by Holly Gagnier. Of course better known for her role as OLTL Cassie. She did occasional appearances on GH as Jennifer Smith.
She's primarily an acting coach now. Two of her coaching clients are Katey MacMullen and Avery Pohl (GH Willow and Esme).

For anyone curious about what Holly looks like now, in July 2025, Michael Fairman did a live youtube with Gagnier, MacMullen and Pohl (link).
Holly says she had retired from acting but then recently did Crystal Chappell's show "Venice The Series".
Holly says she's still friends with Kristian Alfonso.
Fairman posted this pic during the interview:

Gabi vs. Kate is such a watered-down Kate vs. Sami to me. Gabi does not have the same bite or skin for the fight that Sami always had. Plus, Kate going from bigwig at Titan to a barmaid makes it even less impactful.

Seeing where this Lexie storyline is going, it is very disappointing that it was done with a character like Lexie. The impact, character-wise, was felt, but it also does not hit as much with Nikki Crawford in the role.

The Titan drama is falling flat because it's more subtext than actual playout for me. And the fact that Titan is reduced to a box office with a dual desk is laughable. Back in the day, we would have been in those offices we saw in the 1990s, and it would have been more effectively told.

Storylines are definitely being tied together, which I like, and they are rooted more in character than story, but I do need to see a push. Am I bored? No. I see the foundations that are being set and where Noel is going to be driving this, but I need it to be turned up just a smidge.

I guess they could but they’re depending on the lawsuit money to help keep Titan afloat. IIRC, they offered to settle but Johnny refused. Plus, Kate’s now worried about how Roman would react.

Could be. I don’t know how Ivy (and Charlie) were written out back in the 80s after she broke up with Mike. Whether it was stated that she was leaving Salem or if she just got Don Craig’ed 😂😂

They could say that she never actually left.

I don't know anything about copyright or plagiarism, but I don't understand how much money Titan thinks they will get. The book was never released. Titan didn't lose money. Dimera did on this. Stephanie doesn't care. It seems like a frivolous lawsuit to begin with.

I think Ivy left town in the 80's. She always could have moved back though. If (hypothetically) Mike was the father that doesn't seem very wise on her end.
