I wonder why they chose to do that though. I'm used to calling guys by their last name (being a guy myself), but it's weird to hear people calling a grandma by her last name LOL. Unless maybe she's like this big mobster queen.

At the time Obrecht was meant to be a villain, but Ron and Frank fell in love with her.

Ahh ok - and I guess it just sticks from there. Makes more sense.

Obrecht is an ex-terrorist and mad scientist who used to be locked up in Steinmauer. She pulled corrupt strings to get released after being an accomplice to Faison and Helena's scheme to kidnap and torture Robin, and take Rocco from Lulu and Dante. I think she either shot Liz or threw her over a parapet at Wyndemere or both, among the other insane things she's done to countless people.

It is crazy to me anyone at GH or in most of town tolerates her presence, let alone accepts being on first name basis with her (particularly Liz or Anna). I like Kathleen Gati, I have since day 1 when I took keen notice of her and was not surprised she took off. I think Obrecht makes a good villain. But Obrecht should be used in doses and limited stints off and on, not reduced to a cuddly comic character domesticated and hanging around indefinitely because Ron and later his proteges (Van Etten, etc.) fell in love with her. Her current gleeful insistence that Rocco is Britt's child is just another grating example of behavior folks shouldn't tolerate. It's not cute.

(This is from my foggy memory, so I might have parts of this wrong)... What I remember is Obrecht started out as a villain rival to Anna Devane. But Anna didn't see her as a rival. Anna seemed (to me) to be disinterested. What I remember watching was Faison obsessed with Anna . . . and Obrecht obsessed with Faison. And Obrecht wanting to destroy Anna, whom Obrecht regarded as an obstacle to getting Faison -- that's how I perceived it decades ago, or something like that? Obrecht was a full-out villain in those days. Pretty sure she tried to kill Anna, but probably via something convoluted.

I binged the last couple weeks of shows over the holiday weekend and Lulu and Dante have had some amazing scenes. Dante confronting Lulu about not telling him what happened to Rocco and later when they argued over her taking Rocco on the run was damn good stuff, reminded me of Guza era.

This regime is really good at rage baiting the audience and keeping you engaged, I damn near threw my remote at the tv when Britt took off with Rocco. I hate the weird ass bond the show keeps pushing on us but I do enjoy watching the material its created for Alexa Havins, Finn Carr and Dominic Z.

Tell me about it. She was real annoying with that today. Well, now yesterday.

RON: I remember when I pitched her being becoming the chief of staff, our executive producer Frank Valentini and the network did a double take like, “You can’t be serious.” They said, “That’s impossible. How can she become the chief of staff?” I was like, “That’s why we should do it.”

Of course, soon as I get it in my head, I see that moment when she comes in like, “I’m the new chief of staff.” And then I have to sell it. I’m so glad that Frank and the network went along with me, because I think yes, it’s a big, bold risky move, although I think that it really did pay off.

Obrecht first appeared in 2012. She was part of the team holding Robin prisoner. She was Faison's longtime henchwoman and lover, who we later learned had given birth to Britt and several of his other children.

Thank you for the background! Wow, yeah she was a villain haha. This makes more sense now to me, so thanks again.

At least Obrecht isn't dating Scott anymore. They way the show treated that like a wacky modern day romance was very grating.

Thanks for the correction. I suspected I had the facts confused, and I did! I think I simply loathed Anna's enemies so much that I thought of her as someone from longer ago than she was. Faison was so gross and Obrecht's obsession with him was gross.

Yeah that was awful.

I guess it's like Sidwell. I don't think of him as "Jenz".

TBF, I don't think of him as Jenz, either. It has mostly been Sidwell since Lucky introduced him for me. I can see it as a term of endearment for the many women who seem charmed by him, but that's just taking it too far. Holly. Lucy. Sounds lovely when Ava says it and usually that's who is saying it so not as crazy.

Meh? It's just Sam though. Her relationship with Dante was pretty C story. He's mourned her way longer than I did. Just kidding! I had a party when she died.

Lulu/Dante is still where it's at.

Hahaha!!! But we both know how much you love that particular Brendabot so... ;P And seriously, you know I actually liked Sam/Dante even if it never hit true potential so I don't mind it too much with him in mourning.

Now I take issue with the soapiness of Lulu's return and they STILL have not only not gotten back together but Lulu got with whom she thinks is her best friend's dead husband. Cuz yes, Lulu and Dante are where it's at and they have the decades of relationship history to back it up.

You're not too far off. Everyone here knows how much I love an evil henchwoman so she had me from Day 1. But I fell in love with her when she popped up in PC during the 50th...diva hat, diva shades, dive head turn...and the reveal she was Britt's mother. But yes...she was obsessed with Faison who was obsessed with Anna during the whole Fake Duke storyline. She even wore an Anna mask at one point and got into a huge catfight with Anna...who may or may not have had an Obrecht mask in that episode...that part is a blur for me. She did try to kill Anna cuz she thought she was an obstacle to Faison's love.

I really didn't have an issue with Dante/Sam either. They were fine. They were just boring. As much as I disliked Sam/KeMo at the time she would not actually have been a character I would have killed off. I certainly wasn't broken up by it either lol.

It's odd they hardly even teased Dante/Lulu and now it looks like Dante is heading towards Liz.
