The Plasma Ring really does seem like a (lumbering) attempt to achieve some specific long-term goal.

The way we've seen Ted & Nicole announcing that they're "moving on" (him with Shanice, her with various Plasma Suspects) seems to strongly suggest this arc is designed to bring Ted and Nicole back together at least temporarily.

And let's not forget Naomi's LOUD announcement at the Mardi Gras party: "I've got the BABY! Everyone! I got the BABY!" I can't help but believe Jacob is going to disappear temporarily during the Plasma Ring storyline, and Naomi will discover she's pregnant and decide to give birth despite having the BRCA gene. Otherwise, they likely wouldn't have had Miss Anita's cancer be an inherited trait that just happens to fall on Naomi, who's conveniently keeping it a secret.

I really hope you're wrong about Naomi deciding to keep the baby, not only because Naomi has been so adamant about not having a kid up until this point, but also I actually think Naomi would make a terrible mother. Also it would be a lot more powerful storytelling if Naomi decides to have an abortion because she doesn't want to pass on the BRCA gene and it causes even more issues with Naomi & Jacob. If anybody should be having that type of storyline eventually, it should be Kat or maybe even Chelsea. I know that Chelsea tested negative but that doesn't mean that she won't have a kid that may end up testing positive at some point.

Is it tedious that Jamey's breakdowns are terrible, or that LC says they are? I'm legit confused.

Both LOL

With that said, from what I understand.. .the breakdown writer works closely with the head-writers and I would assume the head-writers would have to sign off on the breakdowns before they go to the script writer.. but every show does it differently so who knows how it works on this show.

I could always tell when it was a Ron C breakdown because he tended to have short scenes (i.e. 1 to 2 minutes) broken up throughout the episode... while other writers tended to have have somewhat longer scenes so that the momentum of the scene wasn't broken up.

I honestly can't tell when Jamey is the breakdown writer, especially if they're paired with a strong script writer that can flesh out the scenes.

In regards to Deanna, I see her acting more like Doug than Vanessa while Donnell seems to be more like Vanessa than Doug.. in terms of personality.

The other thing I really wish the show had done was introduce Donnell and Deanna while Doug was alive so we could see his rapport with both of his kids... that would have been better than the whole pointless June/Samantha/Tyrrell character arc.

In fact, I would have had June as a character separate from the whole Samantha/Tyrrell characters (who I believe were not needed to be teens).. and had her finding her place in the non unhoused world.. and been the friendly waitress at Orphey Gene's (sort of like how Maggie Evans was in the first year of Dark Shadows.. the friendly waitress with a smile and a wisecrack as they got you your order :)

Too bad Lia is the "villain", her dialog was stellar today.

Loved how she lit up Leslie. That was great.

Love how she has Ashley quaking.

I think they explained on an episode that the BRCA gene can't skip a generation, so if your children don't have it then your grandkids can't inherit the gene. That was why Kat and Martin didn't have to get tested after all, because Nicole wasn't a carrier. Dani's kids had to get tested, because she had it.

Y'all be hyping Donnell's acting up and it ain't all that. Even when he was doing that weird tongue thing some of you were singing praises. Meanwhile, he is decent but it can still read amateurish to me quite often. Again, this isn't my calling for a recast. He is just fine, but I do not think he is some amazing actor.

-- Leslie's ideas for the free clinic are ridiculous. That market needs basic healthcare, not vitamin drips. Is she that out of touch? I just don't know what or where it gets her to ask for more at this clinic.

-- I have no problem with the way Deanna speaks to Vanessa. None. Deanna has asked repeatedly for the truth about Vanessa and Joey, and all she gets is stalling and lies. We have a language warning here, so I can't call Vanessa what she is, but I'm ten toes down on that. She proves every day what trash she is.

-- Joey wouldn't answer Deanna's question about banging Vanessa, which is all the answer she needed.

-- I am still waiting to see that Vanessa is a good mother. So far we've been told she is, but that's it.

-- It's really disappointing that Donnell became a Joey fan so quickly.

-- Lia's a good character, and Cecilia Specht is doing a great job with the role.

-- Marcel questioning Nicole....Just how rogue is this guy?

Derek would have been better to present the idea over Leslie.

Deanna not getting an answer, was in itself an answer.

It's a shame that the show cast such a strong actress to play Lia that it makes it kind of sad that the character has a limited shelf-life when she actually is an interesting element to the hospital setting.

This is more like it!!!

I said it earlier, but you know I live for Dani/Vanessa scenes. Vanessa was FINALLY acting like VANESSA for me...not some whiny wallflower. And I too am over her saying how Joey makes her feel alive. Dani/Vanessa are so effortless together. All it was missing was a 'Dani LongLegs' shoutout.

And OMG at Bill continuing to put the puzzle pieces together about Lynette and Hayley. After watching it...you know what? I want Bill to figure it out and expose Lynette and Hayley. It will bring back cunning Bill. And him figuring it out without Dani anywhere around will keep Dani's hands clean. Since we are not getting that St. Barts location shoot. And he left Tomas on helping figure it out still. The Tomas who continues to know too much. I just continue to feel it's leading to his exit storyline. Or that could just be my attempts to manifest it.

God, I love Lynette. But those whole scenes of her vs Hayley was giving me 90s DAYS OF OUR LIVES blackmail scenes so you know I was living. And then her at the end with Vanessa behind Hayley's back. Uh oh now.

OH...? I'm talking about the Ted/Nicole scenes. Part of me enjoyed it. Part of me felt my 'Spidey sense' twitching since Ted came into Nicole's office with that UPTOWN bag. And what was the point of building up Ted/Shanice and even winning the audience over to liking him for him to say that Shanice was more into him than he was into her? SINCE WHEN??? I found that piece of dialogue jarring. Outside of that, I did like the conversation. Due to the abruptness of them having one on one scenes about their current relationships, I couldn't help but think about @Broderick 's running theory about the point of the plasma ring. I saw a snippet of talk today of today's episode which also is making me think you are on the money as well. I mentioned yesterday that while I don't like the plasma ring storyline itself, I do like that it does seem to be creating the potential for juicy fallout drama once it's over. I just want it...well...over.

Off-screen thing of the episode...the missed opportunity of having LAUREN FENMORE ON BEYOND THE GATES. Even if it is on a video call a la Jill Abbott Foster's appearances sometimes on Y&R. HOW???? And Kat idolizes her, too? Suuuuch a missed opportunity. I am happy that the meeting went well and ChelseaKat will continue to grow though. It's really the only sign of business on this show currently and I will never not be TeamKat. Speaking of...

...LOVE the Nicole/Kat scene. For once, it felt like a mother/daughter scene and not a scene to prop up another character. And Kat came across as the mature one. Which made it funny during the Chelesa vs Kat quarrel. And I laughed when Anita showed up and gave them that black grandma voice that I know all too well. And they got quiet as church mice. Also continue to love Kat/Bill scenes. It seems like thanks to Hayley, they will be keeping Kat in his orbit. I'm not against that. Nor am I against the show continuing to tease her story beat during Chels' kidnapping connection to Joey.

I know I'm in the minority, but we have been overdue another Dupree family moments. I do like they mentioned that not everyone was there, but they still had a cute little moment together. We got so many of them during the first year. I don't want them to completely vanish. It's a nice reminder of them being family and they come across as a real family, not just 'the Duprees.'

I liked the episode so much, I watched it again. It has been a minute. Fingers crossed this is the start of the build toward momentum for May Sweeps, proving they are still using the writing technique from last year like I've mentioned before.

BTG is definitely planting the seeds for what I believe will be an explosive May and June. I'm loving it all.

I just need that renewal announcement already, so I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Oh, right; kind of forgot about that. I should have suggested Dani instead; my bad. Anyways, my point still stands. Giving Naomi a baby at this point is just going to be a massive cop-out and it's also going to feel like they just gave her a kid just so they can give her something to do and it's going to send the message that they can't give Naomi any kind of story other than being a mother and wife. What the writers should do is just split up Naomi and Jacob and be done with it. Put Jacob with a woman that actually wants to have kids with him and also give Naomi a late in life sexual awakening where she discovers that she's in love with her best friend Ashley.

I am caught up but lol Jacob texting Smitty shít like "u close?" sends an interesting message.

I was Team Leslie in the exchange with Lia. I don't like how Lia treats Ashley and considering she is likely part of the plasma ring she has zero room to come for anyone.

Not to judge anyones right to have an abortion but I would hate if they wrote this and Naomi would get even more hate than she does now. She has enough reasons why she would have an abortion but tying it into the BRCA gene would not sit right. Its not a death sentence nor does it affect quality of life like lets say some genetic disorders like Down Syndrome. This would not be a strong enough push to have her abort a baby. She's already doing too much lying about her results adn that would just take things too far into territory that would make it hard to salvage the character. That wouldnt just cause problems for Jacob and her; its grounds for divorce
