East Coast broadcasts were preempted due to a CBS News special report. IIRC, the last time this happened, CBS/Paramount+ still released the episode to streaming at 5pm ET.

Right wing nutjobs bought CBS, so it should be expected. Capitulate to the nutjob in the White House.

It's unfortunate, but as @Errol explained previously, contractually, ABC/CBS/NBC are to report on these things as they are news networks, IIRC.

Surprised they're talking now about Artemis II. Makes me think they'll just stretch out the news for the full hour and then just show today's show tomorrow vs. showing just 25 min today.

ETA: Whelp, nevermind, they just quickly cut in, showing just the last 25 min today. I'll just wait and watch the full thing on Paramount tonight.

Seems like this episode was a lead up for Jacob to get hurt. It would actually be a waste to put the effort into a flashback episode if there wasn't something heavy coming.

Mrs. Hawthorne was going on and on about not being from money, but her whole tone was very elitist sounding and superior. You don't have to have money to be a snob because there is such a thing as feeling like you are better because you are middle or working class.

original release date: Monday, April 6, 2026 | writers: Teresa Zimmerman, Danielle Paige | director: Anthony Pascarelli

Thoughts:

  • It is so considerate of Ashley to recreate the favours from Jacob's and Naomi's wedding. That is amazing detail.

  • Damn. Darlene does not mess around. She does not like anyone for her children, does she? Makes me wonder how Naomi won her arrogant, snot-nosed ass over.

  • Glad we are revisiting Naomi's passing for helping those who do not have a voice to speak for themselves (which, btw, does not require an office).

  • It is so sweet that Jacob asked Dani for Naomi's hand in marriage and not Bill's. That is such a sweet twist of fate.

Notes:

  • Zimmerman and Paige did outstanding work with the script today.

  • Definitely a niche episode today. I appreciate it, though. They did some great work really developing Jacob and Naomi's history prior to the serial's beginning.

Today's episode was something I had been wanting to see since the show first started... Jacob/Naomi's backstory. It kind of confirmed to me my initial theories on why they were drawn to one another.. but it also gave some strong backstory on the Hawthorne family and makes me truly think they should be the second family.

I'm going have to watch a little later, but sounds like a good episode.

Yeah today's show was good and very welcome... seeing the flashbacks of events/moments that were established in the past was great to see (similar to what we've had with Bill/Dani).
