Portraying the role of Sasha Gilmore on "General Hospital" for seven years before exiting the series last year, Sofia Mattsson is returning to daytime, this time as a character on "Days of our Lives."

SoapSteph's Daytime Dish newsletter, produced by Stephanie Sloane (TV Guide, Soap Opera Digest), was the first to report on Mattsson's casting, noting the actress would be making her Salem debut in early 2027.

Though the series is dark this week due to the Easter and Spring holidays, a photo of Mattsson, taken last week, was published in Sloane's newsletter, showing the actress posing outside her dressing room (#28).

Details on who she'll be portraying or how her character will be woven into the canvas were not revealed at press time.

"Days of our Lives" has an extensive tape-to-air schedule, which was recently noted to be as much as nine to ten months, which explains why Mattsson won't be seen in Salem until early next year.

Mattsson was last seen on "General Hospital" in July 2025, when Sasha departed Port Charles in search of protection from a potential threat to her and her daughter Daisy's lives. Daisy is the result of a one-night stand between Sasha and Michael (Rory Gibson).

In early March, Mattsson made a splash online with an Instagram post, rocking a brunette look after leaving Port Charles as a blonde. In her caption, she said, "Soaking up the LA sunshine."

I generally find her more enjoyable to watch than Klein, although Klein is paired with one of the most annoying actors ever on the show.

I am too excited as well. If she's not available to reprise her Sasha role for upcoming Robert Scorpio's death story arc, who would we recast with?

NBC Daytime needs to bring Days back to their lineup and stream it after 800pm same day via Peacock like Hulu/GH. Guarantee Days would bring higher ratings than whomever is the current 100pm time slot.

We'll all be skeletons by the time she debuts. I can't get into DAYS because of the taping schedule. Sofia joining the show doesn't make me want to watch, but she looks good as a brunette.
