I have to agree with @Liberty City , why are we putting the tree up two days before Christmas. Literally no one I’ve ever known in my 37 years on this earth does this.

Well my family put up the tree two days before Christmas -- ALWAYS! My parents always gradually introduced Christmas decorations to our home over the 4 weeks before Christmas... but the * Christmas tree * went up on December 23rd, always. The first few weeks of December were about "anticipation". Then we did "celebration" over the twelve days of Christmas! Lots of parties. We NEVER took the Christmas tree down before January 6th -- because it was still Christmas for us! It was forbidden to take it down before then!

Always interesting to see different family traditions.

Meet your first! We brought our inside Sunday and plan to decorate it Wednesday afternoon. That'll give us our twelve days (plus one extra), which seems like more than enough to me. I'd be tired of it if it sat there from Thanksgiving till Epiphany.

Today was a great soap Christmas episode though I have to agree with @Liberty City , why are we putting the tree up two days before Christmas. Literally no one I’ve ever known in my 37 years on this earth does this. Hell I know people that do it the day after Thanksgiving.

i once heard about a family who told their kids for reaons passing understanding, that not only did santa claus bring the presents, he brought the tree, as well.

those parents must have been exhausted by christmas morning!

My husband wanted us to do something like this. He told me that way Christmas would have felt more special. But I just couldn't control myself and did the tree weeks ago. He was happy and surprised when he came home from work, but still I should have waited. Next year I'll control my urge to decorate.

I just get really happy when my tree is up. It just I dunno makes everything feel like it’s going to be okay so I love having it up.

Ours always went up late, too -- because one of the kids (me 😆) insisted on keeping it up till January 6th for the wise men's arrival. Mama was afraid it would burn the house down if they decorated it in early December and left it up till Epiphany. Now that I'm an adult with my own place, we just wait and decorate it on Christmas Eve.

That would never have been my childhood and if I do ever have children, it won't be theirs, either. Santa Claus does not need to be doing all of that on Christmas Eve. At all.

Same. I feel sad already thinking that soon it will be New Years and then my husband will ask me to take it down. I'll refuse for at least a week or two. BTW, we already have so many presents under the tree it's insane. It's almost like we are in competition... as soon as I see he had added a new one for me... I go and buy him a new one too. Right now each of us has made 5, so 10 altogether. I went and bought our dog a present today too - this absurdly cute toy... so everyone will be happy. But it's still not wrapped. 🤭

P.S. I think Hayley definitely needs to wrap a Cascade Pods Box for Dani and leave a note "Merry Christmas, bitch!"

That's how I feel! I put mine up the day after Thanksgiving, or that Saturday.

Just watched yesterday's episode and liked it! Gosh, I feel so bad for Anita. How emotional. And if Sharon is really having an affair with Vernon, and pretending to care for Anita now with cancer, I'll be so upset with her haha.

Naomi can kick rocks. What a selfish B.

I love how Christmas-y it all is though!

date: Tuesday, December 23, 2025 | Michael Montgomery, Jazmen Darnell Brown | Sonia Blangiardo-Goins

Thoughts:

  • Nicole laughing in Ted's face is the right reaction. Ted really should have prefaced it with that Dana is the one who fed him his information, which alone should be a glaring problem.

  • The look of shock on Vernon's face and the heartbreak on Anita's face have been in my absolute feels.

  • Looks like the con artist child bride is not getting everything she wanted. St Barts is not happening. Get over it, sweetiekins.

  • DONNELL! BABY! HI! WELCOME HOME! PLEASE STAY THIS TIME!

  • Not the 'deep throat message blower'. I never, ever thought American daytime would give me the words 'deep throat'. Ever.

  • Oofmph, Vernon's frustration is well placed and is very, very real. His wife's battle is now facing him right in the face.

  • Aw, the support and fight from Vernon is exactly what Anita needed to hear!

  • Bill, ditch the bitch. Save yourself from the nightmare you are in. And of course she would walk out.

  • Dani's reaction to the supposed thought of Vernon cheating on Anita with Sharon is priceless. Absolutely priceless.

  • Joey inching his fingers into the con artist child bride's mind is something else; he is a master manipulator, truly.

  • Aw, Donnell is such a good son to Vanessa. And he is very, very perceptive of Joey's involvement with her.

  • I think it is admirable that Anita wants to give her family their Christmas together, and it is beautiful that Vernon wants to give it to her. So sweet and emotional.

  • Oh yeah, she is falling for Bill more than she wants to ever admit. She is.

Notes:

  • Montgomery is a wonderful breakdown writer and his scripts paired with Brown are a match made in American soap Heaven. They work well together.

  • More beautiful direction today by Blangiardo-Goins. The direction team know how to create visual masterpieces.

  • Clifton Davis (Vernon) and Tamara Tunie (Anita) are the true leaders for this soap and its cast; they could all learn a thing or two from watching these two Legends do what they do.

  • Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole) brings the heat when it is called upon her, and it showed in today's episode.

This soap has become too much of a combination of a Lifetime movie and a Hallmark channel movie since the departure of Guza.

I certainly can't wait till the holiday episodes are over so we can get back to some action and plot movement.
