It's crazy. Ric also should run for DA or Mayor again, maybe usurp Laura (for a while, not forever) while married to Ava.

I really don’t get it because Ava hasn’t been on the front burner much in like two or more years. She is a natural antagonist that should be up to no good. Deeply involved with Drew against Sonny. Or with Sidwell against Sonny. Watros is in the same boat. It’s like Valentini would rather leave them on the shelf than actually use their talents. And Rick Hearst has energy and chemistry to burn all over the place. And now he’s back to trying to win over Sonny too! Puke!!!!

Because someone clearly does not want her to be. As soon as PM was dumped the Svengali story with Sonny ended and Ava's relationships with Nina and Trina were instantly repaired.

I think there are two cross-purposes involved in this stuff. While popular with fans I also think Ava's friendships are favorites of the prior team (CVE/O'Connor), who historically seemed to prefer keeping Ava in a softer and lighter antiheroine role, weeping over Nikolas and fretting with Austin, friendlier with Sonny, etc. which also enabled them to keep her around. I think that is unnecessary to keep Ava and is a major tonal mistake.

OTOH I suspect Korte can take or leave Ava at best, hence her overall secondary status again today. The instant PM was gone she began being dragged and embarrassed all over town for a month or two and any semblance of a cozy relationship with Sonny was shattered. So I suspect you've got one writer who doesn't care about Ava and another who just wants to see Maura be fierce and keep her around as long as possible, and both these opposing drives enable the worst or least use of the character today.

Oh my god I love this idea!

Why am I watching Liz talk about eye mites? Is this really a we have for her? Can Ric like come flirt with her or something.

I know I have said it before, but the Ava/Nina and Ava/Alexis confrontation scenes during that period were my favorite Ava scenes in a long time. Maybe ever. The turn with Nina where she just drops the pretense was so good! It wasn’t just two ladies sparring, Ava seemed dangerous again.

We have fallen very far from Bert Bauer’s Pap smear and Stone dying of AIDS. It’s comical how much soaps used to do storywise that they would never touch today. Especially the real stuff. We saw Erica Kane at Betty Ford!

But at least the eye mite community got their PSA.

I don't really have a problem with Ava keeping those popular friend relationships as I think the contrast with saintly Trina is especially interesting, and reminds me of how transgressive Robin's relationships with Sonny and Jason still were in the '90s. (And I wouldn't keep Nina around for much longer anyway, though I love Watros and think she's worked very hard.) But I also didn't have a problem with her losing them, especially breaking with Nina because of their insane history.

I do agree Ava needs to be off the leash, and I think Van Etten at least actively avoids that and softens her (as Passanante and Altman often did) because he's scared of losing the character. Whereas I don't think Korte or FV care where she slot in. I think if it was up to Korte Ava would be dogmeat.

Oh, Portia. I'll say having her on the stand to reveal all her sins was satisfying. Now, Trina, if you had just told your parents the truth about the destroyed evidence, all of that could've been avoided. OC, the writers how to do it that way for maximum impact.

Willow's horrified look when Drew told Alexis that she wouldn't see Scout for the holidays. The next scene should've been Willow convincing Drew to let Scout see her family.

While I like the softer side of Ava with her besties, I'd love to find out Ava is secretly working with Sonny to take down Sidwell, who seems quite smitten with her. Ava definitely would have motivation to protect Lucas.

I loved the Portia confession on the stand! That’s good soap opera and I felt so bad for her and Trina.

Loved watching MEK today. He was giving me Tad Martin vibes with his facial expressions when Tracy was talking to Laura. I love the guy!

I’m really enjoying this show :)

Not a big fan of Portia, but the reveal on the stand in front of Curtis and Trina was classic soap and I loved it.

I'm so looking forward to seeing what happens next for all of them.
