Is Josh Griffith is biggest hack in soap history? For years I remember so many people always sung his praises until his 2012-13 Y&R stint went awry along with his earlier very disappointing 2003 OLTL return with Malone, but now looking back I do believe Josh Griffith has pretty much faked his way over the last 30+ years even going back to his Santa Barbara days and absolutely deserves no credit whatsoever. 

I do think those who credit him for some of Malone's strength in his first OLTL run may be right, but maybe we're just being kind. I'd certainly put him up there along with the likes of DePriest - maybe worse as some insist that she did well early in her soap career, or at AMC. 

Some might way Black & Decker, or Jean Holloway, but they had shorter runs at soaps.

I'm not cutting JG slack by any means, but I feel like this may have a lot to do with SONY/CBS wanting just a cheap/lazy written show, and they mandate that to anyone at the helm, even if "writers" like JG might have at least one solid idea.....they don't want the show to improve...

Not in any way to excuse Josh, but the lack of budget for sets and cast is a big factor along with an insistence that the vets must be featured (even though most are played out, especially as lead characters)

But his choice to focus on poorly written business stories and dull romances as well as stuff happening off-screen is unacceptable.

In my head, this comes off as Josh Griffith getting pissed when Rory Gibson made a smash on GH when cast as Michael -- and when everyone said Rory didn't work on Y&R because of the writing. I feel as if Griffith wants to prove everyone wrong. Problem is, he can't.

And yasss!!! I said the same thing earlier. Because Noah under Rory could have went a few places...depression, his link to Audra, family conflict a la Newman/Abbot by Allie-who is much more interesting than Claire...but we got nothing but a B&B exit a la character just vanishes to be mention off-hand as gone in dialogue. 

 

A waste.

Anyone cast as Noah doesn't get a long shelf life.. unless you count being stuck on a shelf... If you aren't Kyle, you don't get written for. Two throwaway lines about Allie is all we will hear.

I think the problem with Noah goes way back to when the character was fist SORASED was it 07 or 08?

Nick and Sharon were still young frontburner characters now the parents of a teen and competing for story.

Also doubly compounded by Nick being drastically SORASED earlier. There were too many generations represented. Noah should have been kept younger for several more years.

And then Noah never really got a major story and went through recasts till we Adamson as Noah, who looked way too old. 

It was a mess for years.

and Y&R continues their de-aging of characters. LOL I wonder if he will have scenes with Tamara Braun who played his mom on DAYS.

anyway, he's a really good actor, so this is a good get, imo. If they give him material I think he might actually be able to make Noah Newman happen for real. 

I absolutely think them hiring Chad is only a matter of time.

Why don't they just bring back Zach Tinker as Fen? Already established and would give Lauren and Michael something to do other than be involved with Victor and Nikki. He can work at Crimson Lights and talk incessantly about taking over Society.
