I cannot stand Smitty. Let Marcel pop a cap in him and bring on somebody new and less judgmental for Martin. The way he speaks to Martin is so condescending and he was horrible to June. He's down there below Ashley on my list of characters.

Seeing Samantha and June just emphasizes how old the Samantha actress is that she looks at least decade older than her Tv mom lmao

They really need to recast Samantha for Season 2

Jasmine Burke is 42 so a decade older might be pushing it just a little bit, lol.

I was happy that Martin told Smitty the truth about Samantha seeing June, and they didn't spread that out for a long period of time.  I'm team Smitty on this one, so far.

Also good to see Derek's friends actually checking on him.

Overall, still a bit bored since Chelsea's kidnapping storyline.

Agree with all this. Since the kidnapping, I have also felt a bit bored. I don't care for Martin and Smitty's kids or June. Samantha wanting a relationship with June is a bit stale. Besides Smitty's internal dilemma, there are no reprecussions. The whole June being birth mother reveal was a weak plot point to begin with. I did enjoy the Smitty and Martin scenes, but I just don't care for the overall story if that makes sense.

The Leslie/Ted/Nicole stuff seems pointless because up until recently they made it seem like Nicole was done done with Ted. I honestly couldn't care less if Nicole and Ted got back together, because I sense very little chem between the two.

Dani needs a better Andre to play against. I know some aren't the biggest fans of KM or Dani, but she has done a great job on this soap IMO.

The reason it's been a bit slow since Chelsea's kidnapping is the same reason the show was a bit slow after the Ted/Nicole/SPS bombshell and the Dani pulling a gun at Bill/Hayley's wedding.... it's because all other plots seem to stop and the focus is only on just whatever plotline is going to climax.

So what ends up happening is once the climax is over and we start to see the fall out of that particular plotline.. the other plot lines that were paused/not shown have to restart and aren't in a position to hit their climax.

With that said, I do wonder how Dani and Andre will operate as a married couple and I wonder if this twist is another example of the show tweaking things after the positive reception of their characters as a couple.

I think we're in the range of episodes that were written after the debut of the show.. which explains the shift back to Dani/Andre, a possible Kristen Dimera turn in Derek's character, Hayley/Caroline having friendship scenes again, etc.

I get people liking Dani and Andre, but liking them enough to actually have them get married?! I still think this whole marriage thing is pretty bizarre to me. I really don't understand the purpose of this. Maybe Dani and Andre will realize that getting married on a whim is a big mistake and they get an annulment after sobering up?

You're spot on about the show.

The Derek story is a yawn-fest, too.

Now Andre/Dani being married will generate some potential good story and conflict because I think people, other than Nicole, were unbothered with them together because it was assumed they were just having fun... but I have a feeling the Duprees and other people will be more surprised/unsure of how to react to the two getting married.

While Andre/Dani have a solid friendship as a foundation... seeing them trying to navigate marriage will be interesting because she still carries a lot of baggage from her marriage to Bill so Andre being a player won't sit right with Dani now that they're married, etc.

I wish the Anita Williams impersonator had been a real drag queen.  That would have been far more believable, and more humorous.   Having the impersonator be played by Tamara Tunie just caused fans to wonder what the Hell was happening.  I'm sure some fans understood it was an impersonator, but others likely thought Anita has a doppelgänger -- which is a tired old trope.  And I hope it doesn't go in that direction.  Anita and her impersonator are not by any means to the level of Kathrine and Marge.

I actually liked June and Samantha's conversation at Orphey Gene's. June gave her some pretty good advice. I also think Smitty is acting ridiculous and overbearing and I don't really like how he acted with Martin. I still don't understand why these two aren't getting divorced. How much longer is Martin going to tolerate Smitty's crap?

The show is too tightly focused on the storylines they intend to tell (or restricted by budget/actor guarantees) to let the canvas breathe. Those character moments will only make those same stories richer. The show tends to primarily allow those moments at big events.

Let me add today's Naomi/Jacob/Ashley/Derek couple scenes to the list. Exactly...some of the scenes last week (I'm looking at any and all Hayley/Caroline scenes) would go a long way to developing some characters.

I guess I will eventually be curious about that re: actor guarantees at some point due to those discussions on DAYS and GH, but I would think BTG still has plenty of wiggle room to avoid the disadvantages of that. At least for now.

Now that's Hayley. If anything, Derek is Krista Allen's Billie Reed. 😜
