It's funny and TT is doing a great job, you can tell she's loving it. But the reason behind it... the idea of them actually getting married, is dumb to me.

I think saying the show is doing 'misandry' is a bit much. I do think it's an overcorrection from GH and B&B and most of the men need real work.

I actually think Martin has gotten a lot stronger since the reveal as opposed to being a histrionic, loud authoritarian (but without a degree of histrionics he wouldn't be Martin!), and is one of the other compelling and layered males on the show. He was a strong axis of support for both Smitty and the kids last week. Smitty himself is decent. But they seem so overcautious about either valorizing hypermasculinity or promoting stereotypes with the rest that instead you have a series of other guys who are either ciphers, wusses or both. We've already talked about what needs to be done with Andre, but I think they are terrified of playing into stereotypes about Black men with Andre if he is actually depicted as a jetsetting player or making him unpalatable to audiences (or Ashley) so instead you have this milquetoast in loud fits who only comes alive in Dani's bed.

  • I think it is nice that Bill is wanting to have regular dinners with Naomi and Chelsea, and their respective partners. Just hoping he keeps it up.
  • Douglas, you are approaching a very fine line with what you are suggesting and your ongoing behaviour.
  • An Anita Dupree drag queen would be the one available to perform a drunken, regretful Vegas wedding for Andre and Dani.
  • Well, we are revisiting the relationship with the deadbeat and Eva. Let us see how it goes.
  • Anita in pure matriarch mode, whether as a mother or a grandmother, is such a beautiful fight to see.
  • It is heartwarming to see Douglas and Vanessa begin to reconnect. I am just hoping it is not a 'too little, too late' situation.
  • I do like the budding friendship between Caroline and Hayley, and I hope it will not end when Bill inevitably divorces Hayley by the year's end.
  • Good on June for improving at her job; she definitely has the positive attitude needed for working with the public, especially in food service.
  • Well, Andre just married the wrong woman. I wonder how long until an annulment can be filed. This is impulsive as frick. And it surely will not end well.
  • Aw, June is adorable meeting Anita Williams. True fangirl moment right there. And I love seeing everyone be so supportive of her, as well. She needs more of that.

Notes:

  • I adore that Tamara Tunie (Anita) is playing a drag queen version of Anita. That is brilliant! And she is playing the frick out of it, too.
  • Did we get the word 'orgasm' during the afternoon? Oh. I love that. I love that we are still not afraid to use language on this soap.

I'm not sure if that was supposed to be a drag queen of Anita or a lookalike impersonator of Anita, because Las Vegas has performers of both types (kind of like Elvis). If they were going for drag queen it seems like they would have just used a drag performer. But it's nice that the show actually did something that was fluff. Soaps used to do that.

Finally! Movement! I am absolutely here for a drunken Vegas wedding and seeing Andre and Dani actually crash out together in the last few days and Andre begin to behave vaguely like his supposed image has been refreshing. Keep it coming.

I thought the Dani/Andre wedding was hilarious. I loved their banter, I loved Tamara playing the impersonator . I wonder if the lisp was her idea. Either way that had me rolling.

I loved the meeting with June, Martin, Nicole,  and Anita. One thing I appreciate that about the show is the warmth in the family conversations. Most soaps today rarely do that these days.

If our Doug is really going up yonder, I wonder if the twins have been casted and if they're coming home to stay. I could see them transferring to Banneker with Vernon and Izaiah and building up that set.

Chelsea's and Kat talk about sex are so real and refreshing but I wished Tomas had a male friend or family member to talk. Him telling Eva all of his and Kat's business makes me so mad. He should at least think hey maybe Eva isn't the best person to talk to this about.

More of Hayley in lingerie please.

@marceline's comment the other day made me wish Kamar de los Reyes was alive. Yes, he deserved better than daytime and was doing quite well outside of it before he passed away but imagining him as the patriarch of a Latino family here, with a recast Tomas as his son, would've been a dream once upon a time.

Yeah... was the wedding a pitch from the worst writing team in soap history and MVJ just decided to run with it?

It reeked of the two of them and it really messed up today, as a whole.

But I did enjoy Martin/Eva. I wouldn't mind them building a brother-sister relationship. It could put him against Kat, who is starting to grow on me but I'm still Team Eva.

June is still not necessary though.
