Except with B&B there would talks on ends with nothing going on. At least with BTG, usually (emphasis on USUALLY), their talks on ends...lead somewhere and/or have movement. If not in the same episode, then in a few episodes time vs B&B where it can, will, and usually (emphasis again) be MONTHS.

The polar extreme is not any better, IMO. I think if people didn’t have the other current soaps for comparison, BTG would get less of a pass.

Both yesterday and today I have to say, between the terrible acting/line delivery and the terrible dialogue ("There are positions we could try...") Thomas, despite his conventionally hot looks, comes off as the complete opposite of sexy.

He reads his lines as if he’s an anchor on “Access Hollywood.”

When Nicole realized Martin could benefit from therapy, she should have immediately referred him to a professional in whom she has confidence.  That is simply how situations like this are handled in the mental health profession. No ifs, ands, or buts...

They can't just trust any random person with the full context of the secret.

Yep. Pretty to look at at times, but sexy...same.

Seriously like every line of dialogue out of his mouth during the love scenes would have had me laughing but not remotely turned on.  I don't blame Kat for just waiting for it to end.

I do not want to see Ted get with Leslie because Nicole doesn't want him. I do not want characters to be that stupid.

Characters stupid...no. Ted...sadly yes.

Glad to see Uptown reopened after closing so ONE COUPLE could have a salsa lesson. Jesus.

I admit...as a child of the industry...even I side-eyed that sooooooo hard. In what universe? When I've been part of buyouts, the client gets done, you clean up and...just go home.

The pacing and story choices this week have me wondering what the hell is going on.

Yeah, this week so far, good moments, but there's no central story anchoring anything. And the June storyline (as much as I personally like it) is not the story to use this week as the main story.

You are probably right. Personally, I would rather have some movement than none at all. And I definitely don't want BTG to give me the whiplash that B&B tends to do when nothing happens for months and then (for three weeks tops) things move at a breakneck speed.

I don't know what's going on with this week, but it would be nice if there was either one of their A stories or another event to anchor the week. There's not even a build going on from what I can tell which is shocking because BTG usually has something building throughout the week.

lol. Facts. He was really uneven the last few days, but I think I'm over the character (like I am over Andre) due to what he's done the last few weeks anyway. Free Kat from this 'man.' (but keep her rivalry with Eva burning hot).

I'm not here to learn about aces and aromantics when it revolves around a vibrant character like Kat.

Hmm... I'm glad that you unilaterally decided that those with vibrant personalities cannot be asexual.

I made it clear I was talking about characters on a soap.

Wow, this thread is hot. There was a lot for me to catch up on.

I don't believe treating your own child is illegal, but it is unethical and very much discouraged in the practice. I genuinely just wish we could see Nicole be his mother instead of having this very clinical approach with him. It honestly made me uncomfortable watching those scenes with Nicole and Martin. I was glad Dani barged in.

Similarly, Naomi and Jacob have this super weird interactions with Smitty and Martin surrounding this June stuff. It came across like they weren't even family and like they were talking to clients. For example, when Jacob went to shake Smitty and Martin's hand after dropping the June bomb. It was giving Jacob in cop mode. I guess it does fit his goody two shoes personality, but why is Naomi giving the same energy? Is it the writing?

I have to agree with whoever said they don't really know what to do inbetween reveals. This week especially feels like we are going from plot point to plot point with very little development.

Agreed with your first point, although to be fair...  We *do* only have the current soaps for comparison, so...

And yes, it's a very weatherman delivery.  Sexy.

Yeah, at this point I don't think there's any point in recasting Thomas (they should have months ago of course)--the damage is done and I'd just get rid of the character.

Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking about who Leslie's mother may be??? Because THAT would be fire!

And that’s absolutely fair. It’s the only one of the five (almost said four!) that I make any time to watch at all, so it’s definitely on a different level and consciously doing different things. I just can’t excuse some of these glaring missteps because it’s new or because we’re only X number of episodes in.

I think of how the June/Samantha/Tyrell reveal should have been paced out, but then I think of how that’s really not the story that needed to happen there. I liked them as a more conventional family unit working through the Martin/Smitty break-up with the kids having their own short-term, tertiary arcs (Tyrell being affected by his parents’ split more than he lets on and his girlfriend helping him to keep his own goals in focus).

Even if the story was about Samantha or Tyrell making the choice to find their mom, when the whole premise is that they were more than old enough to know that they were being mistreated (and why), it’s hard to believe that they’d willingly reach out for her.

Do they even do closed adoptions for kids as old as they were when they became Martin and Smitty’s? How does that work when the kids will obviously know/remember who their birth parent is? Unless June’s name wasn’t originally June, if either kid wanted to find her, it wouldn’t be hard to.

And he has no real ties to anyone at all. An employee of Bill’s, a fling of Kat’s, and a “friend” of Eva’s. They can follow each other on Snapchat before rides off to wherever.

Are you looking for an excuse for Nicole???

Licensed therapists are not random people.  They have the same legal patient confidentiality expectations as attorneys have with their clients. So they are legally bound to stay silent regarding their client interactions.

Nicole committed an unethical and an illegal act by allowing her son to believe she was his new therapist.  There is no way around this fact.

The show will likely ignore it.  But a judge would not ignore it, and any state mental health licensing board would also not ignore it.  No matter what excuse or rationalization Nicole might use -- she would most definitely lose her license to practice as a mental health professional.  No excuse would get her out of this.

I was hoping that as a new soap with a clean slate, BTG wouldn't so readily resort to those contrived situations like Nicole being her son's therapist.

I know posters who critique are accused of being nitpicky but when certain decisions are made you wonder why it wasn't picked up along the way.

Alex A has had months to improve and I was willing to give him that grace as diving into a soap must be overwhelming but everyone else has managed.

I have to wonder how he was cast in the first place. Surely there were  other  potentials in the mix?

Having Uptown as the Salsa set? Even a small rehearsal room set would have sufficed. They need to have the room/budget/flexibility for one off and short term sets.
