It's coming up on 6 months, it's time for the show to reassess some things and pivot. If they can't admit that some things just aren't working, then they'll be following the other soaps and produce a show in denial. I am interested in seeing how this summer pans out.

I do think they need to work on making sure the momentum is kept up and ensuring some of these stories have better and higher stakes. The story execution issues are what is really hampering my viewing experience with this show at the moment.

Since y'all brought generations up, I watched the premiere yesterday because of a conversation on this forum about how well soaps that premiered post-B&B have faired and failed. Now, I didn't know what to expect but I was stunned when that lady came rolling down the stairs like that. It looked so dumb, but I was invested and then the gag was that it was a soap within a soap. 😃 I bust out laughing.

It took a year for Generations to feel like it was going anywhere. That was because former AMC EP, Jorn Winther, came in and totally revitalized the show. There was some promise form the start, but Sally Sussman Morina (as proven multiple times) is just not a good/exciting writer. When Winther came in, suddenly the show had some fire, there was some recastings, and Sussman Morina was forced to up her game (as much as she could at least). NBC canceled the show just when it felt like things had started to really gel.

For anyone who missed it, the EntertainmentTonight/CBS five-part video "Welcome to the Neighborhood".
It's behind-the-scenes for BTG, released February 2025.

I know some may have intentionally avoided it, in order to be spoiler-free.
But if you're caught up with the show, then there's nothing spoilerish anymore.

Cast intro, set tours, wardrobe, hair, wigs, make-up, etc.
Something you can share with friends, if they are interested.

Oh, I think there's loads to fix about the show. I don't think this silly preemption week is on the show, I think it's on the network.

He never likes to own that part or take accountability for that kind of vile speech. If you confront on him on the details as to why he personally thinks MVJ is anti-Black or a 'bootlicker' he's outta here! Can't talk right now! Gotta go! We used to ban for that kind of trolling.

💯 but we're the ones in the wrong... sure, Jan. Unable to own up that the crap they're peddling is absolute crap.

I think the urgency and stakes for stories are my biggest issue as well right now. Personally, it doesn't bother me that they're always at Orphey Gene's or Uptown and while it would be nice to have more sets I know that this isn't always possible with budget constraints, but it isn't distracting to me either...at least not yet.

Exactly!!!!! I was just about to say the same thing. That is like blaming GL for being moved to 10am in NYC when the ratings were already falling, or putting brand-new show, Texas, opposite early 80s juggernaut GH, when it premiered, at the height of Luke and Laura. It sucks, but there is not much that the PTB could have done. It looks as though Michelle and Sheila are pissed, too.

I don't know anything about this guy, but I can plainly see, after being on this board since March, that he wants to bring the whole BTG crew down. I'm not sure if it's a personal vendetta, but it sure is petty. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism about the show, especially if it's an opinion that many share, but he is just over the moon when he perceives failure. I don't understand the vitriol. He reminds me of the MAGA people that stalk CNN and late night show comment sections on YouTube just to start flame wars and say racist and homophobic things - simply to get a rise out of people. Sir, if you hate the show, please leave and let us enjoy something that brings us pleasure.

I agree. The sets don't really bother me (outside of Naomi not having a living room or an office). Like I said, as a GL fan, I have seen SOOOOO much worse. But, I get other people's concerns over it. I think the story is great, and it is much more interesting than other shows, but there are areas that need a little tightening up or sometimes lack sense. All things considered, however, they are doing very well, and I thought it would be more like the other soaps in 2025 when it premiered (but it surprised me- it's better, though that is a low bar).

Waste of time. The bigger picture? A disappointed audience that continues to grow? But yall want to keep coming for me? OK.

I'm not making any of this up.

A waste of time, to me, anyway, is watching and commenting on a show that you seem to hate so much.

One dumb move after the next is how I size it up. They are going to ruin everything very fast. You cannot have so much audience dissatisfaction, which is continuing to build, and expect success and longevity. GENERATIONS is going to win if BTG showrunners continue on this way.

Are you seriously blaming the showrunners for this week of repeats???

We've been told repeatedly that this was a network decision and the show didn't find out about it until the last minute.

I agree with this.

-- "Urgency and stakes for stories" is a good way to put it. As I've said, I understand planting all these seeds and then leaving them....only to return later when those seeds seem to hae been forgotten. I can see this working -- occasionally.

I don't think it's good to have multiple stories running like this.

-- I've complained about the sets, too, but I do not think it's a major problem. I do not think that puts BTG in danger of cancellation or is evidence of any kind of huge problem at the show.

Listen, I'm a BIG complainer when it comes to these soaps. I know I can get on others' nerves because I bitch so much.

But even *I* can see that your "criticism" comes from a different place than mine, that you came to this show WANTING it to fail and that you delight in the negatives.

That is all your business. I know you have a right to post your thoughts.

I shouldn't speak for others, but the point is that we're on to you. We know what you're doing and why you're doing it.

I just wish you'd own who you are, but you refuse to do that.

Mm-hmm; they thrive on being negative and trying to spread their mis-information and negativity.

I've watched every day since BTG premiered. I am invested and I want this soap to succeed if not simply for my love of this genre. This is the first time in close to 20 years that I have watched a soap this consistently. Maybe the sets don't bother me much, because it's already an improvement over what I was seeing in the final years of GL

Overall, I agree that the pacing of the stories, the decision to rotate stories in and out, the lack of more classic soap elements like music cues and cuts to commercial have been a challenge. Like you I don't necessarily dislike this rotation of stories, but it can feel strange when it seems like something has been dropped. The big one for me right now is does or doesn't Dani have a drinking problem? Has this been dropped or is it a case of a story that will come up again soon.

I don't mind the complaining, probably because I am critical myself and it seems like yours comes from a genuine place.
