I believe it given how the likers AND haters were curious to see who it would turn out to be.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any drop off by those utterly disappointed in the Cane reveal.

JG he really streeetched it out for a Friday June 13th reveal. Sabotage on us as viewers lol?

I also wonder if old ex-Lane fans also tuned in.

I definitely have seen old Lane fans online who was happy for that. I've also seen Lane fans who will only accept DG as Cane. And a few of the obtuse ones I used to read about here back in the day.

I will be curious to see how the ratings pan out post-reveal as well.

Now you quit with that JG shade before I get just as shady. ;)

BTG dropping in every category. The Martin story isn't bringing in the viewers. The writing has to improve.

Regardless of the ratings, Beyond the Gates' writing has been better than whatever Y&R has been doing. It has literally been random conversations for months with no real story. I checked out when Daniel was getting a guitar lesson in a coffee shop.

I have no words. Y&R goes up in the ratings and BTG goes down??? How is this reality??? Yes, I'm totally aware BTG isn't perfect, but it's a really good show and deserves better ratings IMO.

Reveal and Fallout to Mystery Behind Aristotle Dumas Leads ‘The Young And The Restless’ To New Lows...

It does show that viewers starved for anything remotely interesting will tune in. If only Y&R  could offer a variety of storylines, characters and sets, viewership might actually go up.

That picture looks like an episode of Hoarders, lol.

I disagree. It didn't take off until this week because this was the first time they dedicated a week to moving the story along. The reaction to the story has been great tbh. Next week, ratings will go up because of Martin's secret cliffhanger!

Yeah, going on two weeks of Martin in the focus with a tight A story grip. Rewatching last week and it holds up. And I know this week will be doing the same. I expect the same now that people have something solid to hold on to.

Between June 2024 and June 2025, Y&R’s weekly ratings typically fluctuate by about 100,000 viewers. That means a change of plus or minus 100K is just expected week-to-week noise. But as@Errol noted:

When you see a jump like 216,000 viewers, that’s not just an 11-week high. It’s a shift that’s more than twice the usual week-to-week swing. That makes it statistically meaningful—not just a blip.

And since you’re still reading (which means you’re at least moderately bored), here’s the broader view:

  • General Hospital: typical bounce is ~70,000 viewers

  • Bold and the Beautiful: ~80,000

  • Y&R: ~100,000

So unless the shift is over 150K, it’s probably not a major audience reaction. It’s just regular churn. What’s especially interesting is that GH changed writing teams multiple times this past year, and still stayed within that usual bounce. So whatever people might think creatively, the numbers didn’t swing much.

Just to frame it:

  • General Hospital average viewership in 2024: ~1.9 million

  • Typical weekly change: 70,000

  • That’s only about 3.7% of the total audience

In other words: most ratings moves are just small ripples, not tidal shifts.
