I was definitely on Ted’s side today against Nicole. But he’s still keeping another big secret from her 🤦🏽‍♂️

The Martin secret - Martin's emotions, PTSD.  Martin snapping when Smitty asks him what's wrong.  Martin resisting affection.

Martin is showing the classic symptoms of a rape victim.  Maybe he killed the abuser and that's the coverup?    I wonder if that's what this is.

Why do you think they would go to such lengths to hide it if it were rape?

I'm reminded of DAYS when Adrienne was raped (by her father) and she killed him but blacked out the details.
I think Martin stopped to help a stranger by the side of the road, and the man and his brother (either one or both) tried to rape Martin, and Martin lashed out and beat one of them and killed the other.

date: Wednesday, June 25 | Teresa Zimmerman, Lynn Martin | Anthony Pascarelli

  • Deadbeat, you are how you act... and you act like a damn child. Accept it.
  • Dani is holding onto the idea that the child bride is faking her pregnancy. I kind of love it. And her versus Ashley is definitely a preview of what's to come where Andre is concerned, and that's exciting to me.
  • NICOLE CONFRONTING ANDRE! Go ahead, girl! Speak how you feel and make that man stop seeing sleeping with your sissy!
  • Katherine and Tomas just have that fiery chemistry; the natural lust in his eyes is so beautiful and easy to get lost in.
  • A "whole new face" for Kenny, huh? So he got badly disfigured at some point during that night.
  • I love that Eva is continuing, in her own way, to advocate for Nicole with Ted. She's right. She's entirely right.
  • Nicole is calling Andre right out for using Dani's emotional state for his own sexual gain, and she is right: it's unconscionable. "You are a short-term solution to a long-term problem." Damn. Brilliant dialogue by Lynn Martin with that line.
  • So, the next day, Bill has ditched the cane? And here's Kenny, sulking around a corner without a single care who may/may not see him.
  • Tomas, why are you second-guessing things???
  • Ted coming to tell Nicole the truth concerning their deadbeat, and Nicole is more concerned about the Andre/Dani secret.
  • So the child bride was cramping? Damn.
  • Ted is straight up spitting facts at Nicole, and she can't handle it. I love it. "Come down off your pedestal, princess, and maybe we will be." DAMN!
  • SHE REJECTED THE ULTRASOUND?!? Oh, she is so faking the pregnancy, and Dani will reek havoc when she is proven to be right!

Notes:

  • The pacing of today's episode is solid; each storyline featured is getting its due, and one isn't overpowering another. Great work between Zimmerman and Martin, and excellent direction from Pascarelli.

When Bill was in the hospital room with Hayley, Hayley said the ultrasound was fine and the doctor would email her a copy, and Hayley would show the emailed copy to Bill later.
(yeah right).
The doctor came into the room and said Hayley was fine.  The doctor never said anything about any baby.   Bill made an assumption that the doctor said the baby was fine, but the doctor didn't say it.
Bill tells Dani/Andre and anyone who could hear (Ashley) that the baby is fine.
And now Ashley learns from the nurse that there was no ultrasound.

I think Hayley told the doctor what to say. By HIPAA laws, the doctor cannot tell anyone (not even the spouse) about a patient's condition, without the permission of the patient.
I bet the doctor said "I won't lie for you, but I can omit information".

But like I been saying, a good amount of the people on this show have light and dark moments and I love it. Layers and nuances.

Agreed.

Eva/Kat for me is still the show's breakout rivalry. Tomas is a dud with Kat, but for some reason he improves greatly when Eva is around. He's gotten much better since the first days. He still needs work though if that triangle is going to be a lead story.

Yes, the backbone of the show! The storyline keeps giving.

Can I just say how much I love seeing Jacob and Naomi on my screen?

Me too! I feel bad for the Kat/Jacob shippers cause I don't see it happening, lol.

One fall out that I haven't seen anyone discuss yet in regards to Martin's secret being revealed to all... will be what Nicole's reaction will be to this news.  Not only will she feel a certain way about her own son not coming to her... but to find out that both her husband and father knows about this secret and kept it from her will certainly be a sight to behold!

It's been discussed.

Deadbeat

Just my speculation, but I think Martin is distant/avoidant/angry due to PTSD.  I don't think he was naturally that way before the MysteryIncident?   Maybe he was a little bit that way --- but not like he is now.
Apparently Smitty and Martin were married for several years before the MysteryIncident happened. I don't think Smitty would have married Martin years ago -- if Martin had his current personality back then.

I just don't think Martin is naturally a deadbeat, at all.

Vernon and Anita should have arranged counseling for Martin.   The Duprees have enough money and influence to find a discreet counselor.

After Dani held her at gunpoint at her wedding and casually feels entitled to show her way into Haley’s house whenever she feels like it, I won’t feel bad for Dani if Haley fakes a miscarriage and frames her for it ala Annie/Reva on GL

Why do I think Vernon/Anita would go to such great lengths to cover up Martin's secret, if he were a rape victim who lashed out at his attackers?  I don't know.
But MVJ has written the nuances of a rape storyline on GH, so perhaps there's more to this. Or at least she's fully aware of the psychological trauma a victim experiences, and ways society reacts.

A solid 'Thursday' episode.

I thought the highlight for sure was how the story of Dani/Andre continues to unfold. And Dani finally told Nicole. The Dani/Nicole dynamic has been one of the best dynamics to watch. And this was really their first rift. DD was giving. And I care about both sisters that I can't wait to see how it develops. More and more though...the Dani/Andre relationship is being found out. I bet the reveal is going to be good.

Yeah, too soon for Chelesa and Madison to be around the family. I didn't like that. I liked even less that Dani was being that Dani that polarizes very much in those scenes. I prefer the one who was around Nicole.

And I'm always here for Nosy Nurse. Bill's recovery has given some humor going on. And now a life insurance policy...things that make you go hmm.

Thank you. I know people like Dani make it hard when they go back to their default mode, but it's all there in the writing and how the actor/actresses play them. The layers to Vernon vs Bill Monday alone...

They really remind me of a black Paul and Christine from Y&R. With better chemistry and pre-bad writing. As for Kat/Jacob...chemistry yes. But I see it as brother and lil sis chemistry. Looking forward to their mystery spinoff. ;)

It sure has. It makes me wonder if it is going to lead to the spoiler I mentioned a few weeks back because I feel like that would make sense with Nicole's outbursts she has been giving that feel slightly uncharacteristic.
