Vanessa... most people think being unfaithful is being disloyal.

I love the mental gymnastics cheaters do in order to justify not being disloyal.

Vanessa/Joey do have a good rapport and a toxic sexual chemistry.  Question I'd like to know is why Vanessa is drawn to this.. is it a form of rebellion from her upper class upbringing (hence why she was drawn to Doug originally).. or is it something that happened in her life.

Agnes Nixon would have that answer if she were head writing the show and/or created the Vanessa character.

  • Deadbeat is losing his mind, and I'm here for it.
  • Ashley, do not put that ring on your finger. You deserve better, and he's out there boinking a Dupree woman. Go get your man!
  • So, this "traumatic event" Deadbeat endured was in more recent years? So it's recent and during his marriage, I would assume? And the man from that night? Hmm... what happened? Gambling troubles?
  • Bradley is officially an employed journalist, and that makes me very excited for him.
  • Derek, your ass belongs with your ugly, named chair and your Moose head. That's it. If you cannot live together, how are you going to get married? Be realistic, Derek. Think with your head (the one on your shoulders).
  • I appreciate the power and command that Vanessa is making with Joey. She's smarter than she actually appears, and it's refreshing, especially from a blonde woman who may often give off the "dumb blonde" persona.
  • I am adoring the backstory of Madison's coming out, the history behind who was/was not for her coming out, etc. It's a nice little insight into a new character, and it wasn't done in the first two episodes.
  • Derek, take the very apparent hint (NO) and stop pushing; pushing Ashley is only going to push her away even more than she already is. And Ashley threw the truth back into Derek's face.
  • Madison, a theatre kid?! Not what I would've expected. But it shows you do have a type, so to speak. But I am loving this flirtation/information "get" between her and Chelsea, and that kiss was smooth as butter. I'm vibing with these two so much and hope it isn't some kind of "blip".
  • Yacht Club?! Oh, could this be a future set once we get into season two?! That would be exciting.
  • Uh-oh, Bradley, be careful... you're treading into dangerous territory, and I would not want you getting hurt.
  • The bomb drop: Vanessa is willing to go into business, but only if it is beneficial to her (and Douglas). Boom; she wants 18% of the deal. She's going to get what she wants. I love a headstrong businesswoman.
  • Oh, that's smooth, Andre, showing up with the restaurant-branded napkin. I'd be swooning immediately.
  • The sexual chemistry between Joey and Vanessa is palpable; she's ready to not be able to walk again, and I am absolutely here for it.
  • Bradley is connecting the dots where Joey and Marcel are concerned, and it is riveting. He knows how to do his job, and he does it quite well.
  • Madison does not give a frick about the Chinese food; she just wants some "Chelsea" for dessert. Yes, ma'am! Go for it!
  • That "sex scene" was pure magic. Whew. And the opposite with Joey/Vanessa – that was pure fiery, tense passion. Wow.
  • Oh snap, does Marcel know what happened with Deadbeat?

Notes:

  • I appreciate that we had a proposal refusal with what felt like a truthful answer: someone is not ready for marriage, and it did not take making it to the altar before confessing this.
  • I love the continued frank conversations dealing with consent and one's sexuality. It's so refreshing to see them both discussed in comfort and without a fuss.
  • I appreciate the branded pieces of sets: napkins, etc. It's that unique touch that will really make these sets feel real to audiences.
  • I love that we continue to receive scenes sans overwhelming musical cues; it feels more primetime, and I like that dialogue/scenes can breathe.

Wow a sex scene with two ladies!  Good to see it.

Joey/Vanessa were really strong today. The actress playing Vanessa is much better when she's harder/serious/flirty/threatening.

I despair every time I see Naomi at Orphey Gene's with confidential legal papers spread out over the sticky tables.

Loved today's episode. I enjoyed all the movement in the story, as well as the characters on the screen.

Like others have said, Martin's story is a bit confusing, 2 years? I expected his situation to be something before Bradley. But, I am always riveted by his secret and believe he was pretty strong and relaxed in all his scenes.

Happy to see Bradley on the job. He didn't waste too much time before he started to dig up the skeletons and piece things together. I like that his scenes away from Martin aren't with the usual suspects; it's something refreshing about them. An exciting character to watch.

Vanessa was also great during today's show. Sis about her coins, and I can't hate on her. Take your power back, Queen. Today did her worlds of good!

Woof to Elon. Team Derek..

To me, Elon has the potential of being somewhat of an OG Ted type. Not quite as classy, but having a sense of swag and badassness. First of all, remove those glasses and that cop uniform and dress him in some GQ magazine suit and voila. Someone suggested him being for Leslie. That would be workable because he might humanize her somewhat. Not that he'd be much of a boy scout, but one who understands her a bit more unlike others. But I recall, Elon is still supposed to be married to Jacob's and Luke's mom Darlene though.

This final segment is steamy, I'm into Chelsea and Madison, and I cosign on the Joey and Vanessa chemistry. Glad to see movement on Martin's secret, although confusing, hoping for clarity soon.

Also, thank god for productions being shot in Atlanta now, must be where all the fine black men are cause they seem to always be found for Tyler Perry's productions and now they're popping in on BTG.

Jen Jacob did some solid work today. Acting-wise, she wasn't half bad.

I don't mind Elon in his uniform. I hope we see him and others like Derek wearing their uniforms more often. I think it helps the show with/ "Have not" element. Everyone else dresses business casual.

As an Atlanta native, we are crawling with fine black men and I’m so happy BTG has found them 😂😂

Bingo! @ your second line, the gaslighting they do lol.

Great minds>>><<< I thought about Agnes too, if they continue to play this long-term, I can not wait to learn more.
