I agree, Brandon was great today. BC doesn't get enough credit for the way he has embodied Martin. His body language, his hand gestures, and even the way he speaks sometimes. I love that he isn't too flamboyant, but also doesn't come off as so masculine that you question if he is straight.

  • Chelsea snapping Dani back into her snappedT personality with the news of Hayley's pregnancy.
  • The child bride needs to stop trying to rebuild her friendship with Naomi and Jacob; it's clear they are not interested.
  • I'm very proud of Dani for outwardly handling the news of Hayley's pregnancy better than I thought she would. But her line about Hayley developing a taste for AARP overnight was hilarious.
  • Jessica went from zero to one hundred real quick and high-tailed it out of there like she just got told she was about to be jumped.
  • Kenny needs to be less conspicuous in eavesdropping on Deadbeat's conversation with the big, bad Bill.
  • Not the fakeout scene. Whew.... It's been a long time since we've genuinely had a good one of those.
  • "Sympathy is currency in Fairmont Crest" – whew... what a line.
  • Derek trying to be cool and hip with Naomi and Jacob is not hitting; sure, stick to your ugly-ass named chair.
  • Ooft, Tyrell got himself a bit of a stiff, prickly attitude. Wonder which parent he gets that from....
  • I appreciate the sibling relationship between Samantha and Tyrell; they've got each other's backs.
  • Deadbeat totally strangled someone he shouldn't have; a hookup? Or someone who crossed him? Bradley deserves so much better.
  • Dani showing up for another verbal showdown? Oh, this will be interesting, won't it?

Notes:

  • Once again, Brandon Claybon (Deadbeat) is phoning it in. I do not buy his performance at all.
  • You can this episode was written post-debut, with the note about Ashley and Derek being the "boring couple", which seems to be a common belief on social media, etc.
  • Karla Mosley (Dani) is on point with her acting choices today; you can tell she's reveling in the material she is given.
  • The continued use of actual food on the community sets is amazing; the food of Orphey Gene's looks positively delicious to me, and I'd like some immediately.
  • A BET Awards commercial? Ah, it feels like the '90s again!

    • True enough. But it just feels too ordinary for Reva to temporarily be blind. ykwim?
    • I haven't seen today's episode yet, but people on Facebook who have the Canadian feed have posted clips of Friday's episode, plus the video preview for next week. I'm not a happy camper.

    • Really frustrating show today: -- I agree with others that Leslie has made far too many visits to Ted's hotel room. Why would he entertain a thing she said? -- More plot convenience: Kat walking in Ted's hotel room without knocking just so she can catch them having some contact. -- I don't mind Jacob and Kat confronting Mona, but they'd better get to Shanice in a New York minute. -- In no universe was Dani the victor in those scenes with Hayley and Bill. She made a complete fool of herself -- again. She had a couple good lines, but they were lost because she's already lost the plot. Breaking into someone's house will not garner sympathy for her. -- Even if Hayley isn't pregnant, Dani will never be the winner in those scenes. Why not let the months ahead take care of that? -- Dani pulled her "I'm a Dupree" at Uptown, and it was as obnoxious as it sounds. -- I never thought that back room was the full casino. Regardless, it's always looked cheap and ugly. -- Vanessa is for the streets. I'm sorry, the woman is trash. -- Do I want to see Joey and Vanessa having sex on a poker table in a back room at a casino? I do not. -- Actually, I don't want to see Joey and Vanessa having sex anywhere.
    • But it's from a viewpoint of I didn't watch back then so it didn't happen lol.  It's really not a huge deal.  We generally share the same views.  But ignoring big plot holes doesn't make it a good story because actors are doing great work.  I actually mentioned you had a good point about fallout.
    • It felt very hoary long before Reva had it. I forgot Bill got it too. A shame Michelle wasn't around to share tips on how to cope with temporary blindness.
    • I have updated this list with the following info: 5/29/25 UPDATE: Now that we know the "long" commentary (during the morning & afternoon sessions) listed on Vanderbilt for October 1973 is incorrect, I am adding these updates for 9/24, 9/25, 9/26: These are the time frames listed on Vanderbilt between the morning & afternoon sessions, so these shows likely aired on these dates (the only ones to air on the networks specifically these days): 9/24/73 ABC 1222-2PM All My Children, Split Second & Let's Make a Deal 9/25/73 NBC 1213-2PM Who, What or Where Game & Three on a Match (Jeopardy possibly from 1215-1230PM) 9/26/73 CBS 1233-2PM: Search for Tomorrow (1235-1PM) & As the World Turns
