Someone mentioned a while back that Katelyn MacMullen should be chosen as a recast for Ashley and I think that's a great idea. I'm still hoping that BTG poaches her from General Hospital and have her play Ashley. Also the writing for Ashley could use some improvement because right now Ashley is coming across as extremely emotionally unstable and neurotic. I can't help but wonder if that's supposed to be intentional.

I think the story with Jacob's partner the shady cop is coming.  Remember a while back, we saw Jacob's father the police chief Elon Hawthorne, trying to defend the situation to Jacob.  And separately, we saw Chief Elon ask Anita to help with the police event. *Speculation only* that the Articulettes (or Anita solo) will sing at the police event.  I think bits and pieces of the cop/mobster storyline are being shown very intermittently, and it will build into a C story, then B, and then more, as the event gets closer.
But for now the focus is on reuniting the Articulettes.

I wouldn't be too worried. I've noticed that this show is VERY good at bringing back up a story/plot thread right as someone mentions it on this board. Most soaps might drop or forget one, but this show always loops back around and tries its best to not insult the audience's intelligence.

 

Heck, we still have Anita's police fundraiser to look forward to, and it has not been mentioned in...mmmm...a month?

LOL @Taoboi and I posted the same thing at the same time.

And during the convo between Anita and police chief Elon, we learned that Elon's wife (Jacob's mother) is the police dispatcher and Jacob's brother is another cop. So maybe the reveal will happen after the entire family is shown onscreen?

IKR. I hollered just now. I totally agree. Even now the Doug/Joey/Vanessa storyline is moving from C to B and doesn't even touch on the crooked cop part of Joey's storyline. It's similar to what they did with Martin's secret...just idling on the backburner all of Month 2 until this month regaining a build to it. I feel the same about the crooked cop storyline. 

 

And I can't wait for the police fundraiser. Hoping to see more of Jacob's family then as well.

I've been rewatching old episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on ParamountPlus.  There are times when Captain Sisko visits his father in New Orleans.  Sisko's father runs a restaurant with specific local New Orleans cuisine, and we actually see and hear him recommending specific dishes to the restaurant customers.  I can almost smell the aromas.

I'd like to see occasional mention of the menu at Orphey Gene's Soul Food Cafe.  Someone orders something, or mentions how much they enjoy something.  They named Orphey Gene's after MVJ's mother.  I want to feel it as a soul food restaurant and not as a generic diner set for conversations.  I mean, obviously it will still be used as set for conversations, but give it more specific atmosphere.

      How are we 50+ episodes in and Hayley has had little to no independent character development? She started off as one of the show's heavy hitters in the first couple of weeks due to storyline but has faded into the background more and more every subsequent week. They've made no effort to integrate the character into the canvas outside of being Bill's "child bride." It's really bothering me because I like the actress and I think she has potential. Can she get a friend or at least scenes without Bill? I'm now at the point where I like Derek more than Ashley. That's how bad things have gotten with her. The actress isn't terrible but she isn't very good either and the writing for her been abysmal.

      I assume no commentary is required. Oh, hell, here is my girl Dani in a totally different & new pose, may it reappear with some frequency. One question: did any of us have any idea what kind of special friends Pamela & Dani really were? Upon reflection just yesterday Dani said, " I need time to figure out the kind of woman I am." What are we to make of this? Is this the kind of woman she has figured out? If so, odd that it only took a day.

      Making her Chrissie was inspired, but if they hadn't gotten Roger and Holly back, would it have meant as much? Lord, save us from another Shayne. No offense to KdP, but she's just not my cup of tea. Maybe she just upped her game for OLTL, but she's uninspired on GL. Well, you can't have a "bad" Reardon. They could've said Chelsea was the oldest child of the oldest Reardon.

      I'll add to what others have said -- the Xander and Sarah stuff today was really, really good. Kudos to both actors, and to the writers who gave them interesting and real dialogue that explained both characters' points of view. It's unbelievable how much better DAYS is under these new writers.
