Scott Clifton, Lisa Yamada, The Bold and the Beautiful, Bold and Beautiful

Surging week-to-week, “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.716 million), which just got renewed for more three seasons at CBS, ranked third among unrounded Women 18-49 during the week of March 31-April 4, 2025 with its 0.33 rating pushing it ahead of the 0.32 rating for “TODAY 3rd Hour” (1.840 million) and the 0.31 rating for “The Young and the Restless” (3.081 million), Nielsen data shows.

The half-hour soap was up +0.09 (0.33 rating vs. 0.24 rating) over its performance one week earlier and up +0.08 (0.33 rating vs. 0.25 rating) compared to its performance during the same week last year in the key sales demographic, marking the show’s second best performance of the season in the demo and the first time this season it has ranked third, behind only perennial leader “The Price is Right” (3.647 million / 4.182 million).

Among Women 25-54, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up week-to-week, gaining +0.05 (0.47 rating vs. 0.42 rating) and marking the third time this season the show has tied its season high in the demo (0.47 rating). Compared to the same week last year, the soap was up +0.06 (0.47 rating vs. 0.41 rating).

For the week, “The Bold and the Beautiful” gained the most viewers week-to-week among the daytime broadcast shows, up +131,000, and was also up compared to its performance during the same week last year, gaining +13,000 viewers.

“The Young and the Restless” Ratings

While “The Bold and the Beautiful” outrated “The Young and the Restless” among unrounded Women 18-49, the long-running soap opera still managed to see an increase in the demo, jumping +0.04 week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.31 rating vs. 0.27 rating) and saw an even bigger +0.06 gain among Women 25-54 (0.52 rating vs. 0.46 rating), tying for the show’s second best performance of the season in the latter category (0.52 rating).

Compared to its performance during the same week last year, the soap was up +0.01 among Women 18-49 (0.31 rating vs. 0.30 rating) and up +0.03 among Women 25-54 (0.52 rating vs. 0.49 rating).

“Beyond the Gates” Ratings

“Beyond the Gates” (1.622 million) appears to have stabilized among Women 18-49 with its 0.22 rating, relatively on par with the show’s recent performances and an increase of +0.01 from one week earlier (0.22 rating vs. 0.21 rating). Meanwhile, among Women 25-54, the new soap opera was flat week-to-week, maintaining its 0.36 rating for the third consecutive week while tying for its second best performance in the demo just six weeks since its premiere.

Compared to the year ago performance of former timeslot occupant “The Talk,” “Beyond the Gates” was up +0.05 among Women 18-49 (0.22 rating vs. 0.17 rating) and up +0.10 among Women 25-54 (0.36 rating vs. 0.26 rating).

Among Total Viewers, the soap gained +67,000 viewers over last week’s performance and was up +297,000 over the year ago performance of “The Talk.”

“General Hospital” Ratings

After topping its time slot competitor last week among Women 18-49, “General Hospital” (1.811 million) and “Beyond the Gates” swapped places this week, with the former hitting a 0.21 rating, down -0.01 week-to-week, and the latter increasing +0.01 for a 0.22 rating. Among Women 25-54, the ABC soap also fell -0.01 over its week ago performance (0.32 rating vs. 0.33 rating).

Compared to the same week last year, “General Hospital” saw the largest year-over-year drop across daytime broadcast, losing -316,000 viewers (1.811 million vs. 2.127 million), and dropped -0.03 among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.24 rating).

Even more concerning was the show’s year-over-year drop among Women 25-54, down -0.08 (0.32 rating vs. 0.40 rating), with only the first half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” (1.985 million) seeing a larger drop of -0.09 compared to its year ago performance (0.31 rating vs. 0.40 rating)

“TODAY 3rd Hour” & “The View” Ratings

“TODAY 3rd Hour” was up week-to-week, jumping +0.05 among Women 18-49 (0.32 rating vs. 0.27 rating) and +0.06 among Women 25-54 (0.45 rating vs. 0.39 rating). Compared to the same week last year, the third hour of “TODAY” was also up among Women 18-49 (0.32 rating vs. 0.31 rating) but saw a minor dip among Women 25-54 (0.45 rating vs. 0.47 rating).

Elsewhere, “The View” (2.512 million) saw week-to-week and year-over-year growth among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, with the latter category seeing the most significant gain compared to the show’s week ago performance, up +0.05 (0.35 rating vs. 0.30 rating). Among Total Viewers, the talk show gained the most viewers across daytime broadcast compared to the same week last year, up +135,000.

“TODAY with Jenna & Friends” Ratings

Lastly, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” (1.189 million) hit a series low among Total Viewers, down -74,000 week-to-week and an astonishing -298,000 compared to the same week last year.

Three months since the departure of former co-host Hoda Kotb, it looks like NBC needs to settle on a permanent replacement and quickly, considering the fourth hour of “TODAY” is just +49,000 viewers ahead of “NBC News Daily” (1.140 million), which gained +42,000 viewers over its week ago performance.

That said, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” remains a solid performer in the demos when compared to other daytime broadcast shows, even tying “General Hospital” among Women 25-54 (each with a 0.32 rating), despite year-over-year erosion.

I'm dumbfounded by Bold increases in demos and viewers/households. I don't get it.

Glad to see BTG up in households and steady in demos though last week wasn't very good.

The show was heavy on Luna, Sheila, Deacon, Lame - with an assist from Will/Electra and the ratings surged. Interesting. I'll admit I actually streamed last week. Not great, but, at least, things were happening.

BTG seems to have settled around 1.5-1.6m viewers, which is good enough for it. It'd be nice to see further gains, but as I've said previously - linear tv is dying in general, so it keeping those numbers will be more vital.

For people who watch live, what’s the transition between B&B and BTG like? Do they roll the abbreviated credits for B&B after an ad break and segue into BTG (as they once did for The Talk), or are they segueing from the final B&B scene/cliffhanger, followed by shortened credits (no ad break) right into BTG?

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.
