Yeah, have this many people part of one family was a bad idea, especially with not balancing it out with another family.

It also means there are fewer options for future romances.

And we still have yet to see various family members interacting one on one and exploring their relationships.

I would like to see Ted and Bill meet up at the bar for example and catch up. They were brothers in law for years and both outside the Dupree clan. What was their relationship like over the years? Would Ted be more sympathetic to Bill?

What about Martin/Dani? etcc. Seeing some of the characters out of their story bubble could be interesting.

Maybe tying some other characters together would have been a good idea. Derek could be Vanessa's brother or Ashley Smitty's sister.

Well let's see then.

Anita, Vernon, Nicole, Dani. Tied to them are:

Children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren: Naomi, Martin, Chelsea, Kat, Tyrell, and Samantha.

Husbands/ex-husbands shall consist of: Ted, Smitty, Jacob, and Bill.

Friends/enemies/associates are: Andre, Vanessa, Hayley, Mona, Pam, and Elon.

I thought the same thing. The way she just showed up after Martin's visit to school got out was suspect.

Yeah it reminds me of DAYS with the high school kids setting up the prank/harassment of Ghoul Girl Chloe at the Last Blast Dance.
Or the movie Carrie without the psychic powers.

If Jessica invites Tyrell to the prom then ...

Don't say Carrie. Ron might read this board and send MVJ a memo to put Tyrell in a white tuxedo at prom.

I agree.  She is setting Tyrell up- this will be the summer teenager storyline.

Also, how long do you think we will have to wait before the other two Articulettes show up on the show claiming that Anita did them wrong (like Diana Ross and Mary Wilson in real life)?

Vivica Fox and Anna Maria Horsford would be good casting for the other two Articulettes!

-- I still like the show a lot, but April has not been as good as March.

-- The cliffhanger just wasn't. Joey getting into the offices at the hospital is supposed to be exciting? It's not. I also have a problem with Joey's plan -- to get Doug so deeply into debt that Vanessa ends up being the money launderer (or whatever). Seems poorly thought out, and someone as dangerous as Joey is supposed to be would do better.

-- I still prefer Vanessa as Dani's best friend, because they're both more impulsive and looser regarding vibe and morals. Doesn't make sense to me that Nicole is so laid back and nonplussed about Vanessa's slut life.

-- Kat should more than understand why Chelsea doesn't want her mother involved in her career.

-- So the preview show Anita being afraid. That has to mean afraid to perform again. I'm fine with Tamara Tunie singing on the show, but let's not pretend this is some exciting plot development.

-- The actor playing Dr. Doug seems to be popular here, but I'm not crazy about him. He doesn't read as a surgeon who was invested in a dying patient, and breaking his hand at  the main nurses' desk seemed ridiculous.

-- The stories we saw today all need some movement. Feels like they're treading water, and I hope we get some sweeps month craziness.

Nicole and Vanessa as friends equals a balance. Sometimes friends are vastly different people and Nicole is not a judgmental character so far. Dani is so all over the place at this stage that she wouldn't be able to be the level head that could point out the obvious red flags that Vanessa is missing with Joey.

It takes a level head to see the red flags in a guy like Joey???

Exactly. They' be very toxic for each other and quite frankly I cant see them being friends considering Dani was just cheated on and thats trauma that she lives through every day to the point that she's become an alcoholic to cope. Vanessa and her whole situation would be too triggering for her to be around. The scene where we had Pamela go to Hayley and shade her alongside Dani wouldnt work with Vanessa bc of the obvious hypocrisy

The red flags are obvious but Dani is way too caught up in her own mess to be a good friend to talk to.

I think they got off on the wrong foot with Vanessa. She came across to me as a little ditzy, not a focused professional business woman. The whole botoxed blonde persona.

With a little tweaking, she would be fine as Nicole's friend. The other thing was we saw Dani confiding in her long before she had a scene with Nicole so that was confusing.

Vanessa is clearly in the Lucy Coe mold. MVJ wrote much of her and Kevin's material personally at GH. She's a comic character. I think it's a feature, not a bug. It works for me.

I'd assume that CBS told them to get more experienced and recognizeable (probably white, lbr) soap actors and they sort of had to jam both Cady and Jon into there. It probably affected Vanessa the worst, because I very much doubt they had the whole casino plot in mind when they set up the show (which is why the casino set looks so dumpy).

And of course, Pamela just comes across right now as they're making it up as they go along as I feel they would've otherwise dropped in that she was Dani's former agent earlier. They probably wanted to tie her to Dani because she was clearly seen as the break out character in the early weeks.
