It looks as though Ron C's talent lies in being a breakdown writer (same as Jean Passante back in the day).. and he should never ever be elevated to a head-writer again.

Nicole/Vanessa have nicely eased into a nice friendship chemistry.. and I loved the Joey's mom rising from the dead in 3 days line.  Perfect timing due to Easter being just around the corner.   I'll be curious to see Nicole's reaction once Ted's past activities come to life.

Doug should totally be upgraded to contract player since he actually can act and can be provide layers to his role.  Ashley and Shanice are nicely being used these past two days... but would like to see both of them  interact with Eva again soon.

Dani/Pamela... still on the fence on this friendship.  I have trouble getting behind mean girls, but at least Dani isn't being all doom and gloom about Bill for a change.

It's about time the writers finally give Chelsea some more layers.  She's been constantly controlled by Dani and I'm still waiting to see if any follow up will be done on Chelsea's personal life.   Kat means well.. but she had Nicole as a mother so she can't emphasize with Chelsea.

It makes sense Naomi looks to Anita as a mother figure since she probably had to parent Dani all the time.. and she's more like Bill then she's like Dani.

I did notice that we're slowly getting some soap opera facial expressions before the scene cuts to a commercial break (ala Doug's reaction to seeing Joey and Vanessa's expression at Nicole asking if she has feelings for Joey).

Next week:  Silk Press Sheila and Eva

Shanice seems to care a lot about Doug. Vanessa might have some trouble from her at some point. Vanessa has affairs but she clearly doesn't want to lose Doug.

Dani starting a modeling agency is the right path for her. Pamela might be the only person able to get her on the right track but time will tell.

 

 

I'm so bored with this casino storyline. I didn't even care for that cliffhanger and the previews for next week seemed dull. I hope they deliver something big for sweeps.

It's also strange how a Dupree always talks up the Dupree thing like Kat at Uptown hinting at a Dupree always coming out on top or getting their way. There needs to be more balance...another family. Everyone on the canvas is either a Dupree or an extension of the family -married into, grandchild, friend of. Aside from Joey, Doug, and Shanice everyone knows a Dupree or has a relationship with one.

Agree. They needs to be someone who doesn't like the family. Maybe, whatever Martin's secret is opens the door for a few characters that want to take them down.

I hope next month aka May sweeps will be when the real sizzle begins and keeps up. They've got to get on the ball. These characters were orchestrated much too interestingly to be wasted.

About that other family: Yes. I said when this show was first announced as being rich black people, I thought there also needed to be ordinary working black people as their counterparts. That dynamic is always interesting.

Impressed with Doug's acting-funny how some actors shine more than others.

Speaking of which Derek is still totally cyborg. Even him picking up a coffee cup was stilted. 

He was back at the hospital b/c a colleague was injured, previously he was injured(nothing came of it) Who will be injured next to have him return to Garland?

I know that is Kat's look but her outfits annoy the hell out of me, I'm still not sure what she does-how is she earning $$$ -Only Fans?

As for her and Chelsea talking up Samantha as a teen model for 'the purse line' when she looks like a dowdy 30 yr old..

As for a spa set being expensive, we'd only need to see the reception with a small office to the side. No biggie.

No sets for Vanessa, Martin and Naomi workplaces is disappointing. Maybe in time.

Agreed.  Another episode ending that doesn't make you anticipate for the next episode.  Other than a few episodes here and there, the last 4 weeks or so have been very slow, and yeah, next week looks the same.   Andre and Dani hookup again? Come on!! Do something different.   Yeah, have this many people part of one family was a bad idea, especially with not balancing it out with another family.
