He really does seem like a nice guy and I appreciate the way he's supported the show and engaged with fans. I hope he lands on his feet and has a nice future. As other folks have already pointed out, this is definitely not the recast I would have made. I enjoyed MJ's chemistry with the cast especially Nicole and Eva. I wonder how things will shake out with the new actor, who I have remembered seeing elsewhere. I also think as it's already been suggested that perhaps the show did this to go in another direction with Ted. I think/hope it wasn't due to any sort of work ethic issues with Maurice. I don't think so, he does seem like a professional, who's was willing to put in the work on and offscreen for this show. The actor you're thinking of is Tom Verica, who's now a bigtime producer for Shonda Rhimes. He was in the How To Get Away With Murder cast for a time and then went on to exec produce Scandal and Bridgerton. Your opinion, of course, but that seems like an overreaction. Yep to all of this. I like Maurice Johnson and I've posted multiple times about it, but people are running with this like it's some kind of scandal.
