If it was the show's choice, I don't get why they didn't wait to gauge fan reaction then decide to recast or not??

Because they're three months ahead and know what's coming up for the character. I liked Maurice, but it's not a huge loss.

Or he was not the first choice for the role, or any number of reasons in front of or behind the camera. Plenty of soaps don't wait for reaction when they recast. They just do it. It's commonplace.

I wish Maurice Johnson the best. He really does seem like a nice guy and I appreciate the way he's supported the show and engaged with fans. I hope he lands on his feet and has a nice future.

As other folks have already pointed out, this is definitely not the recast I would have made. I enjoyed MJ's chemistry with the cast especially Nicole and Eva. I wonder how things will shake out with the new actor, who I have remembered seeing elsewhere.

I also think as it's already been suggested that perhaps the show did this to go in another direction with Ted. I think/hope it wasn't due to any sort of work ethic issues with Maurice. I don't think so, he does seem like a professional, who's was willing to put in the work on and offscreen for this show.

Yes, Brittany was in that short-lived show that I thought was quite good. Also a Tom somebody who you'd recall if you saw him & a Gayle same situation.  (or Gail)

Yes, American Dreams was a really good drama. I loved it. The actor you're thinking of is Tom Verica, who's now a bigtime producer for Shonda Rhimes. He was in the How To Get Away With Murder cast for a time and then went on to exec produce Scandal and Bridgerton.

He better be amazing or else I'm going to start seriously questioning MVJ's taste level.

Your opinion, of course, but that seems like an overreaction.

I may be in a minority, but I am not that attached to the character yet. I've only seen him in 2-3 more interesting scenes and the rest has been just... a handsome man walking around in a turtleneck making girls and gays swoon. That's all. I think some people around the internet want there to be drama where there isn't. I've left jobs, just because something doesn't align with my schedule... Sometimes it's just personal life stuff changing your priorities. There can be a million and one things that can lead to a re-cast. There is not a single sign that the show is "disposing" of him or treating him badly... like some people are speculating. I am not saying you can't speculate - there just isn't any proof of that. Give me proof and we'll talk.

Also... I struggle to understand the emotional outbursts in facebook and some other places of social media. People are acting like it's Brooke Logan being re-cast on The Bold and The Beautiful after 40 years. LOL. I'm not opposed to them... (the reactions), just don't "get them". I also don't want this to follow like a shadow... the new actor who is going to play Ted. He doesn't deserve for people to continue harping on this issue for months. I hope not.

Yep to all of this.

I like Maurice Johnson and I've posted multiple times about it, but people are running with this like it's some kind of scandal. It's not.

That is so sweet. I am looking forward seeing their chemistry on screen. 😊

I suggested to some friends that this is not a crisis & you'd have thought I said bad things about Elvis's mama or something!!!!

The "THEM" is very telling, IMO.

Now that is something else... a new twist. And definitely telling. Now we can talk.

I'm just glad they didn't recast with someone whose skin was lighter than Maurice's.  Because you KNOW that's been done before in daytime.  ;)
