Leslie was serving Celeste Perrault.

Did Martin really say "you're better at it!" about parenting the kids? He is ridiculous.

Hayley actually showed signs of being really nasty. She was much harsher toward Naomi than she was toward Dani.

BTG seems to be the only soap that still has characters mentioning real life relevant celebrities sometimes and not made up ones within their own universe. Sometimes it’s very cringe - like no, in no world would Dani have ever been a legitimate model rival to Naomi Campbell, lol. Stop with that sh!t now!

Other than that, Beyonce has been mentioned a several times - often in Danielle Paige’s scripts. Really just speaking to the icon status she’s solidified and being the last of her generation of popular music to still have both cultural and commercial longevity.

I came to see Naomi vs Hayley... but stayed to see Kat vs Silk Press Sheila.

Naomi vs Hayley:  Both bought up good points, and I like a fiesty Hayley.  Naomi's whole women supporting women line made me roll my eyes since sometimes women need to call out other women.

Kat vs Silk Press Sheila:  I didn't expect this pair up, but I quite enjoyed it.

Smitty vs Martin:  I think Smitty is playing the long game here.. and some people think he should have reacted more forcefully/emotionally... but keeping your emotions in check is a sign of strength.

Speaking of lacking strength... Dani lack strength and any sort of character direction.

That said, I did like the Nicole/Dani sister moments and I'm going to be curious to see how Nicole will handle whatever is thrown at her during her/Ted's anniversary party.

Lastly... good cliffhanger with Ted and Silk Press Sheila coming face to face.

Loved hearing Nicole... say what I've been thinking. Cutting down to the actual narcissism and desire to win at all costs.

And I want to give props to both ladies - Karla and Daphnee were so natural and believable as sisters today. It was a moment when the show really worked and felt like it's been this way for years. Brava, ladies. Show the rest of daytime how it's done.

And also saying that the kids are his and Smitty's priority.  I mean, that's a joke coming from him.

Hayley was harsher to Naomi, but she's also a joke. I don't think she has anything to back up a word she says or a threat she makes. It's kind of embarrassing.

I hear you on this. I love the real pop culture references, but sometimes it goes too far, as with the Naomi Campbell call-out or calling Anita an EGOT winner. Then we see her trophy shelf and see fake golden statuettes that look nothing like the Oscar or the Emmy or the Grammy.

Agreed. The dialogue today was great all-around. Very real and natural. Sometimes it isn't, so I appreciated this.

I'm fine with the limited use of background music (especially compared to GH which uses HEAVY music to do the heavy lifting instead of allowing the actors to do the work.

I'm still not a fan of the scene endings. It feels like an intentional play to be different, and I don't think it works.

That sort of overreach is a concern.

Let's not have the characters be super rich or famous in the real world. Keep them in the Fairmont Crest bubble.

Like Martin wanting to be president. So far we have not seen him at work.

And the Duprees have no visible household staff.

As much as I enjoyed the Nicole/Dani sister scenes, I do think Nicole enables Dani's behavior.  And Dani seems incapable of taking responsibility for the choices that she choose to make and until she takes ownership then she'll never evolve/grow.

And Naomi, and to a lesser extent Chelsea, are the women they are today because of their father Bill.  If left to Dani.. both women wouldn't be the individuals they are and proves that a father figure is vitally important to a child's upbringing/development.  Case in point... Hayley.

I have a strong feeling that tomorrow will also not feature Derek/Ashley/Andre... and truthfully.. I haven't missed any of those three characters.

I enjoyed today's show. It had a lot of characters that I enjoy watching. I love Nicole. She is fabulous. I enjoyed her talk with Dani and watching the advice/support she was giving her. She really does want what's best for her "sissy." They are very believable as sisters and I enjoy their bond. Dani really does not want to give up on Bill, I wonder when she may finally be able to move on from him. (Even if they probably will reunite later on).

I don't care for Hayley and her attitude with Naomi. Hayley is wrong in multiple ways and I am interested in seeing how the showdown between her/Bill/Naomi/the firm works out.

Eva is so pretty; she has good chemistry with Ted. (I hope that continues with the recast.) She really does seem a bit conflicted about how her and Leslie should expose the "truth".

Speaking of Leslie, she is something else lol. Showing up in that new wig, lol, (but it did suit her). She really is taking a risk by running around and pretending to be all of these different characters, with different names and backgrounds. She's putting her whole plan at risk by doing this so openly and introducing herself to more member's of Ted's family. She's fortunate that Nicole didn't see her again with this latest character. I wonder how/when she may expose Ted.

Smitty continues to show a lot of grace with Martin. He keeps letting Martin get away with disrespecting him over and over again. And I agree with those that said that Martin really did sound ridiculous today as well as selfish.  He keeps manipulating Smitty. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he uses whatever trouble Tyrell got into on today's show to try and force Smitty to continue to be a stay at home parent. Smitty needs to break free of that way of living and get his career back.

    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.

    • A little too much focus on Chad and Cat today but I enjoyed the episode. I have a feeling that Jennifer’s gonna get dumped on though, even though I think that her anger is completely understandable and justified. And honestly, Ron is finally gone; Abigail can come back now.  But, welcome back, Anna! It was nice seeing Carrie have scenes with her mother. Christie Clark and Leann Hunley have never really had that many scenes together and to see them have them now is really nice. I’m glad that both of them were there to comfort Marlena too. Their words were definitely the thing that Marlena needed to hear. Btw, with all this talk of Noah, does it mean that he’s gonna be introduced soon? Amy, revealing that John changed her flat tire many years ago seemed a little random though. I would rather she have said something about how everybody in Salem knows of John Black because of how he was always such a hero. But at the same time, her story also showed what a great guy John was.  I liked Kate’s scenes with Philip too, and her promise to get back at Xander for what he did. And since we didn’t see JPL in the bed, did he need some time off or something? And yeah, everything involving ‘One Stormy Night’ still seems very Ron-like to me.
    • The second photo featuring the late John Spencer is from the Law & Order episode, "Prescription For Death", which was the (second) pilot/first episode all the way back in 1990! He played the father of a daughter that had gone to the ER for a mere sore throat but ended up dead because the doctor on call was drunk and had given her medication that she had an adverse reaction to, after receiving some other medication. So, he will always have that great distinction in addition to The West Wing. (The first pilot, "Everybody's Favorite Bagman", was filmed in 1988! The show was offered to CBS, but they passed. In syndication, it is oddly placed as the sixth episode of Season 1. And Roy Thinnes played DA Alfred Wentworth there. When NBC picked up the show two years later, Thinnes declined to return, and that's how we got Steven Hill's DA Adam Schiff.)
