Welcome back, Melinda. Too bad you got caught in all this crap with Kristen and her mother. The writing for Rachel Blake will never not be ridiculous. Bitch hates Stefano but she’s acting just like him? OK. Seriously, she never should’ve been brought back. Not just because this storyline is stupid but because her “death” was also a major turning point back in the day.

Brady did seem to show a little bit of a spine with Ava today. Hopefully, he follows through with his words and remembers that he is the parent and that he shouldn’t let his awful kid run his life. As for little Rachel, I still think the only therapy she needs is a nice long session with Dr. Belt and Dr. Wooden Spoon

And I liked that Ava was there to comfort him about John.

Speaking of John, Marlena showed some fire today! I was loving that’s she so ready to go to Washington and talk to Shane about John. It really felt like classic Marlena. Her and Steve teaming up could be really good to see. This is how Marlena should be used; with her family and her real friends, not her dopey patients who cling to her. And hopefully, this leads to Shane, Paul and Andrew having a big part in this storyline as well.

I also liked Tate and Holly’s argument about Doug III, and everything that happened with Sophia. It was some really good teen angst. And I’m looking forward to seeing what happens now that Tate knows that it was Julie’s necklace that was stolen. I hope he like tries to blackmail Doug III instead of immediately revealing it to everybody. That would help build up the feud/rivalry between them and they really should. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a good fight on Days

And once again, Leo was unnecessary. Like, why is this creepy old man so invested in the lives of teenagers? Doug III definitely needs another person to confide in.

The cliffhangers at the end were really good though. I actually didn’t see them coming and they both have me looking forward to next week, along with Marlena and Steve going to Washington.

Maybe it's just me, but I sort of enjoy Savannah. I wouldn't mind her being a recurring confidante to Joy or something.

Also, it feels like they're winding all Ron's storylines down. I assume they must've been setting up for the writer switch at this point?

Could also be a precaution to see if the recast works out?

Though I feel like they're wrapping Ron's stories at this point. I think his contract ran out rather than was fired, so he'd know he'd be winding down at this point I'm guessing and perhaps some inputs from those taking over to ease the transition.

Looks like Theresa's back. Hopefully she's not around just to pine over Brady, (seriously, is that all the writers can afford for her to do?), and she actually does something useful for once, like maybe figuring out if Tate's actually the baby daddy or not. Assuming she's actually going to be around longer than a few episodes. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but hopefully the new writers have managed to salvage or at least retool whatever story Ron may have originally planned for Theresa so perhaps it's not entirely god-awful.

It was a perfectly acceptable Friday in Salem... but the burning questions keep piling up!

How does Leo know someone living in town bought the necklace? How could Melinda even afford it? And why is she suddenly acting shady and dealing in stolen goods? Hopefully, we’ll get answers soon.

Speaking of twists, I’ve gotta give credit where it’s due: DAYS actually features two (or even three, if you count the Shins) Asian families, all completely unrelated, and from different geographical locations across the continent. Plus, they represent a whole spectrum of moral alignments, which is such a refreshing break from the usual clichés. I mean, we’ve all seen the hack job where they’d lazily make Sophia Melinda’s niece or something, but DAYS is actually delivering authentic diversity within cultures. It’s more than most shows offer.

I was shocked when I realized I’d been misinformed by a member of this forum. I was told only Gwen would be returning, so imagine my surprise when Theresa strutted back on screen! Leave it to Salem—where else can someone leave prison fully glammed-up and with their family completely in the dark about the release?

Also, the soap trope of people walking in on conversations right at the perfect moment cracks me up every time. Like Theresa’s “Does that include me?” — I mean, does everyone in Salem have impeccable timing? Or do they have superpowers that let them miss entire schemes when they’re right next to the plotters? Case in point: Gabi walking in on EJ and Kristen plotting and somehow not catching a single word.

I am pretty sure that member was ME!  Sorry.  I actually thought of you when she popped up today because I told you Theresa wasn't back. That's what happens when you have 1 actress playing two unrelated parts with only a bad wig to differentiate.

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
