beyond that Steffey, Thomas, and Taylor have all killed people. B&B is a mess. Regardless of "context" the truth remains: killing someone is no longer a "bar" for B&B.

Considering Abandoning Threads

Would it help to just not sticky the monthly threads? GH, Days and BTG would probably naturally stay near the top. I also don't see why the monthly cast lists need to be sticked. That would open up some breathing room.
I do see the problem with the long threads, because I rarely am caught up enough on BTG and GH to actually post and there's not much point in posting a week after the fact. And it can almost be a drag to catch up.
What about posting the news items in Discuss the Soaps instead of a separate area? I feel like those often duplicate the spoiler threads too. Something vague like "actor exits ( show) " seems vague enough to me to fit in DTS. Something like the Ted recast on BTG could have generated a lot of discussion.

Brooke/Deacon/Bridget was Bradley Bell. Even Bradley has dusted off his father's work.
I felt Bill Spencer Sr. original characterization was a villainous version of Stuart Brooks, but I don't think Bill Sr. was intended to be a villain. Bill Bell never really had a villain on B&B. Some may say Clarke was a villain, but I think his original characterization was cut from the Brad Carlton mold (employed by the business-owning family, has conflicts with the business-owning family's playboy son, pursues one of the daughters of the business-owning family).

Sure, there was a reason behind morphing discussion threads into monthly discussions, but, while it made sense at the time, it has also stifled the community's growth potential. At year 25, this place needs to grow. There is no incentive to maintain it without changing its organization.
This is for everyone:
From the perspective of a new visitor or potential registered member, what reason would one want to take part in discussions if you can't find topics worth discussing beyond a monthly thread, a spoiler thread, and maybe an all-inclusive show history thread? It's claustrophobic. That's what I want to fix.

Similar to the wedding convo, are there are any particularly memorable proposals? I feel like even the prominent more overtly romantic couples mostly have pretty quiet proposals/engagements. I legitimately can’t come up with any (outside of doomed proposals like Ross finding out about the Blake/AM tryst from the random taxi driver).

Beyond The Gates and General Hospital are the only monthly threads that generate high discussion so I can't see individual boards working when the other soaps have very anemic discussions. Less than 15 years ago we had daily threads then that devolved to weekly and finally monthly.

Let's not forget the numerous changes in producers and writers in the 1980s also played a part.
GL was very fortunate in the 1980s that they avoided cancel territory. Of course Capitol showing no growth and B&B not being a hit right away also helped.

Marina suspected that Edmund did something to Michelle and started investigating. Jeffrey figured out that Edmund took her baby and then told Marina that Cassie was Hope's mom. He wanted to spare Cassie's feelings and not bring up the suspicions at the christening. At the hospital, he was hostile towards Danny, who is as soft as cotton mobster. Once there is rock solid DNA proof (for a soap that is) that Michelle and Danny are Hope's parents, he still tries to encourage Cassie to file for custody and has an oppo file on Danny. All of this is presented as though Jeffrey is a stand up guy and I just don't get it. Michelle had her baby stolen, and Jeffrey basically didn't care.
The 80s version of Billy sounds like my kind of guy. He's easily entertaining from all that I've seen so far. And I did see the scene of Billy breaking Olivia out of the nut house. It stuck with me because a young Quinn from Scandal was the nurse lol.
