Christmas is over… so now we’re back to typical Ron crap.

This is purely speculation on my part, but I’m really starting to wonder if Ron was attempting a suicide mission with Body&Soul, Connie, Leo, Fake Rafe 2.0, etc., but luckily Corday and Janet realized what was happening and fired his ass. What do y’all think?

The young crowd was the best part of today, even though I’ve already voiced my opinion about the pacing of this storyline. I like the mess that Tate and Sophia are in. The cliffhanger was pretty good too. And I actually saw a little spark between Holly and Doug III too. I wonder how this is all going to play out. Plus, this is a much better use of Doug III/Peyton Meyer than having him be stuck with Leo.

I had mixed feelings about the Rafe/Paulina scenes though. They were both such tone deaf dicks to each other today that I don’t know whose side to take

And I did find Jada’s offer to Belle kind of interesting. That could actually set off a pretty good mess for the two of them and all the men in their lives, especially if something happens between Shawn and Jada, which I’m still hoping for.

Yeah, I understood that. I imagine as EP she has to sign off on everything. My point was just that approving something doesn't necessarily mean you're gung ho about it. Sometimes a story is just what has to happen. Sometimes the writers aren't prepared to write anything else. I'm just saying theoretically. The thing is we know something caused them to fire Ron.

They may have approved it thinking hey that sounds like a nice throwback story (even though the OG story was bad) but may [!@#$%^&*] hits fan down the road? We’ll have witness what Ron’s March Madness looks like

That's not exactly what Deidre Hall said at all. She said she thought that's what sent the "writer" away. Her exact quote was:

Body & Soul is done, and I think that's what sent Ron away. ❞

Michael Fairman agreed; Susan Seaforth Hayes didn't mention anything about it sending him away, either. She merely mentioned there were "some laughs" and "some cringes with Body & Soul" but was more-so speaking of the forthcoming regime change, in compliment.

I concur that the offhanded red carpet quote has been misinterpreted.

DH is too much of a pro to engage in derisive gossip to a journalist on camera.

I would add that the immediacy of his departure has been misconstrued. I am reminded of Errol's admonishment that production may have respected RonC enough not to release a statement before the end of his contract cycle.  So, it may have seemed more conflictual than what it was in actuality.

    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
