from the University of Sheffield news about the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160823182954/http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/news/nr/olympic-medal-rio-alumni-1.597944
In a light-hearted reference to her Sheffield studies, Bryony took a good luck memento with her to Rio - a dinosaur lunchbox given to her by her younger brother. During her degree, Bryony wrote a dissertation on the sounds dinosaurs would have made 'or that we think they made':
"They probably didn't have the vocal chords to roar like they did in the movies," Bryony explained, but probably squawked or chirped like birds.

My mother spent today transfixed by the surfing competition and terrified those surfing women would get hurt, lol.

Men's basketball semifinals are set for Thursday: USA/Serbia, France/Germany. I'm predicting USA/France gold medal game, Serbia/Germany bronze medal game.

It’s so odd when I get a premonition—to paraphrase Stevie Nicks- I keep them to myself.  After watching Letsile Tebogo place 1st in his Heat, ahead of Noah Lyles, I got this feeling (a premonition, if you will) that it would be Tebogo getting the gold in the 200M. And here we are!

And now, consider the geopolitical dynamics of the Javelin gold medal going from India in the Tokyo Games to their archnemesis Pakistan in Paris.

Noah Lyles got bronze and he has COVID.

In men's basketball, Serbia gave USA a scare but USA came through.  Steph Curry 🥰

Predicting USA gold, France silver, Serbia bronze.

I’m not even gonna get into the ethics of being in close proximity to teammates who didn’t know he had COVID. I did think it was odd that he was expending so much energy in the walkout and preparation for his race-why not conserve energy?

There’s a saying that tennis players say: if you’re fit enough to show up, you’re fit enough to compete, no excuses.

Canada with the upset win in the men's 4x100M relay!  Americans botched the handoff and were DQ'd.

And if the British women hadn't had a few iffy handoffs they could very well have won the women's 4x100M relay.

USA/France game tomorrow is going to the LeBron James and Kevin Durant show, just watch. Maybe Steph Curry as well.
