I wonder if CBS will give the show a multi-year contract from the get go, along with the multi-year contracts with the cast. If they go only for one year, they could have a bunch of the cast leaving after year 1, requiring them to recast if the renew past year 1.

It's very common practice for network contracts in primetime to be for 5 years and in daytime for them to be for 4 years. Renegotiations still happen, but most actors are on long term contracts at the outset. In daytime, the 13 week pickup cycle is what gives the network the ability to terminate the actor with relative ease.

The shorter term contracts are more common once a primetime show is established, or for a daytime show, when the actor has been in the role for a longer period of time and wants flexibility.

CBS will be owning The Gates, so the show itself is unlikely to have any contract itself, much like GH

Thanks for posting!😊

You’re welcome. It’s kind of cool to see some evidence of interest in what’s ahead with this show every now and then.

I said off an on, please stop assuming you know what people do or don't do 🙄

Sir/Ma'am, we're all well aware that a lot of what you do is just scan social media for commentary, get basic stuff wrong based on tweets you found and then go back to watching your actual show. That's your prerogative, but if you're expecting me to actively engage with you about criticism of a show you obviously barely actually watch I'm sorry but that's not going to happen. If you need to block me over that then do what you gotta do. When you start watching a show other than B&B regularly somewhere outside of Twitter clips then you can come for me about my opinions on GH. In the meantime we're already way off-topic for this thread. Have a great weekend.

When it comes to casting, I know we all have our wishlists, but I think it's best to try to curb your expectations a bit because 2/3 of the cast are probably going to be newcomers, at least to soaps. Either way, I just hope the show hires a talented casting director that casts newcomers with talent and charisma and casts names not just because of who they are, but also because they fit the character like a glove.

My issue with this article is that Hinsey states the time slot will be favorable as it is after B&B. Is she sure about this or is she making an assumption?

I was wondering the same thing.

This article had enough food ‘for thought’ that I decided to post it but there were a few other articles that I came across and decided not to post because of glaring errors and inaccuracies. One article stated that P&G’s last on air soap was Guiding Light. It would have been nice if someone had fact-checked before hitting publishing.

Not anymore for Daytime.  Nowadays, new contracts on daytime are usually only one year.   When daytime longtimers' contracts are up for renewal, the terms aren't publicized, so I don't know how long they get renewed for.
But with an entirely new soap, who knows?
