She could be a sister of Anita or even a member of her girl group. I will say, the only real disappointment I have is that she isn't in the cast but never say never. This is just the beginning and they shouldn't be trying to do everything at once. They need to save some hidden gems for future roles.

This! The fact that Anita was part of a girl group then broke away to go solo brings up so many Dreamgirls-coded possibilities. I can imagine Bill or Leslie bringing one of Anita's ex groupmates to Fairmont Crest to expose her sordid past. It feels like there is a lot of backstory behind every character which gives us a lot to look forward to.

I feel fairly certain Leslie Thomas is too young to be one of Anita's old group, but she and her daughter are obviously harboring some dark family secret.

I am about to watch a second time but I don't think we heard from Jibre Hordges, Alex Alegria, Sean Freeman, Mike Manning, Timon K. Durrett, or Marquita Goings in this installment. It's a short episode so I'm not bothered. I was mainly interested in hearing more about the Thomases and more behind-the-scenes information.

Tamara Tunie's story was very emotional. 🥹 I'm so happy that BTG was able to scoop her up. She is one of daytime's unsung icons and I'm thrilled that she is fronting this show.

So they can't show history and they can't show eyecatching soap opera behavior. Got it. What should they be featuring?

Ingmar Bergman, I guess?

Colby Muhammed (Kat, Nicole's second daughter) is the one to watch for me so far. I like her energy and hope her lack of TV experience isn't an issue. Judging by sides and other material they're supposed to be playing her with Alex Alegria (Tomas, the young lawyer at Bill's firm).

I have a question/concern about Martin but I do not want to get bash for it.

I think the characters that most interest me are Daphnee Duplaix's straight laced Nicole, the aforementioned Leslie, and that middle Dupree grandchild with the business mind. Plus, I think we can categorically state this show easily has the sexist men in daytime and even in contrast to the soaps across the pond and down under.

With every day inching closer, I get more and more excited!

Same! The possibilities are endless with a character like Nicole. So many fun directions she can go down. She and her husband could be in all kinds of foolery behind the scenes, maybe they hate each other,  you could even give her a split personality 🥰 . I am so ready for this soapy goodness.

Well now I'm curious. 🤔

I love the excitement surrounding all of this.

Yes, the actors' enthusiasm, and also the excitement and even joy we're all feeling at getting something new. This also extends to production -- the writers, the directors, the executive producer. I can feel their energy and drive in making BTG special.

It also reinforces my feeling that head writers need to change on the other soaps -- before their writing becomes staid and boring and lacking that fire. Likewise, an executive producer shouldn't be around "forever." New directors should be brought in to keep things fresh.

I don't know if Bill has any family members on the show, but I think Victoria Rowell would be gold for his mother or aunt.

I agree with this.

Okay, please don't take it the wrong way. But I would like to know why he wasn't paired with another black guy.

Has not been revealed. Perhaps it'll be a story point at some point? Or maybe it won't even be touched?

I get the idea since it doesn't count as part of the show's actual first season episodes, but since it's five episodes, will episode 2 be S01E0.5 or something else? Weird.

S1 E0 🤣 They really said "to Hell with numbering".

It might be representative of the realism that gay Black professional men choose White partners.

I'm not saying CHCH isn't airing Beyond the Gates. I'm just saying that it's not the be-all-end-all of the show airing in Canada as has been implied in other articles -- not anyone here.

The CHCH promo referenced above is the same CBS promo that aired in the U.S. but with CHCH lettering and graphics.

If CHCH ends up being the only broadcaster that will be highly unexpected and disappointing, but I can't imagine that being the case in the end. By the time CBS dropped The Talk and greenlit BTG, I believe Global was airing the daytime talk show, so I expect the same network to carry BTG. But we shall see.

If it helps any, MVJ did let it out of the bag earlier (while I was grocery shopping). Well, she verified CHCH for Canada. But I do hope there is going to be more releases other than one.
