I saw a post somewhere (here or on social media) that said they had to program their VCR to specifically record "Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood".  Otherwise it wouldn't record.

This would be separate from setting to record *only* BTG actual episodes.

OK, finally firgured it out.

When I checked the Xfinity/Comcast grid last week, The 2-3 PM slot was marked "Bold & the Beautiful." I set it to record, but hadn't checked "repeat episodes."

Only later -- this weekend or today -- did the grid update to list "BTG: Welcome to the Neighborhood" from 2-2:30. I did set that to record on my DVR.

Officially just a week away from the premiere and that is so exciting. I'm about to watch the special after that Kingdom Day parade wraps up.

Call it nepotism, or whatever, but there are two (of many) reasons why Jon has this role:

  • Like Michael Park ("As The World Turns"), Jon Lindstrom is a recognizable face who has appeared in numerous political dramas and suspense thrillers dealing with the mob, bad guys and immoral people. None of which describes Jon himself, but he is an immense talent that any show would love to have available to them.
  • Long time friends with the show's creator, head writer, executive producer and showrunner, who has fought on behalf of and spearheaded her work as long as time has existed.

Plus, if I recall, during an interview with The Locher Room, Lindstrom did mention he'd seen what she'd written and credited how well it was. So I'd assume their closeness played a significant part in it, as well.

Thank you. Here it comes.

Of course, Lindstrom has been close with MVJ for ages.  But that is in terms of mutual respect.

Jon Lindstrom wrote a novel about Hollywood mobsters called "Hollywood Hustle".
He's spent a lot of the past year or two promoting it and appearing at book signings etc.

So he has a personal interest in fictional mobster topics, maybe?

There is also (possibly) Guza's influence, in a small way maybe? (just speculating) as he wrote mobster stuff for GH

It is what it is. People want to hire their friends - both Karla Mosley and Lindstrom seem to have landed on this show because of their friendships with MVJ. As with any nepotistic association, I just hope both actors are good in these roles.

Right! I am tempted to lowkey go through every piece of footage and that has been released and study it like "Where's Waldo" b/c they are doing a stellar job of hiding stuff in plain sight.

IKR. I am tempted to go back over the character notes due to the name changes that others have mentioned and theorized about for the changes, but I feel the same...that the changes might be to give us the audiences more surprises and I want to be surprised. Very well done that they make one want to do it though.

Another thing that I love is that they've been filming for months and we had no idea. If this was any other soap I feel it would've leaked. I hope this continues once the show is on the air! It's nice to be surprised.

This as well. They have been filming for months. Who knows what other new unknown casting is coming. I know I saw a picture yesterday of someone who I didn't know so...

One can even say Mike Manning landed his gig through his work on The Bay considering Gregori J. Martin is a breakdown writer on the show. Again, one can say. That doesn't mean I'm saying that.

Do you think we'll get spoilers for the show this Friday when all the other show spoilers are released, any idea @Errol

I’d love it if they buck the trend and release very little in the way of spoilers.

It seemed like the casting was taken very seriously from what Sheila Ducksworth has said. Kim Coleman was very involved in the casting of the principal cast per Ducksworth.

Rob Decina, who oversees NY Casting for CBS, also seemed very involved from what some of the actors have said. For those who remember, he was also GL’s final Casting Director - so another tie to the old P&G soap legacy.

re: the discussion of Cady McClain's hairstyle and reddish color, beginning on page 304 of this thread...

I see from this photo Cady uploaded Feb. 6

She does have full bangs. but I guess they can be swept to the sides and almost invisible in some circumstances, and combed out to full bangs in other circumstances.

Oh, I don't think it's a negative. Kind of love that they both got cast on this soap.

We'll soon find out. TV listings services usually update their breakdowns when the publicists send out their emails on Friday.
