Nina has always been apeshit crazy, especially in the Stafford years. She has always been a privileged, unhinged socialite and Watros has never taken her too seriously onscreen IMO, just like Annie. There is always an edge of camp hysteria to the character. (Her performance as Kelly the AA member on Y&R was visceral and wrenching but more grounded IMO, so she is capable of modulating when she wants to and a character warrants it - Nina doesn't.) So yes, what needs to happen is what's needed to happen for years: Let Nina be Nina and go apeshit, stop trying to make her into a heroine or a doormat and let Watros do what she does best before exiting.

It has infuriated me for several years now how little he gives to Brook Kerr, who works this show with real dedication like she's been helping to hold it up for 10-20 years as opposed to what, 3 or 4.

With that mind, what was even the whole point of Nina's arc anyway? I mean for years she's always wanted to find her child and reunite with him/her and yeah, she did eventually find her kid, (or kids, if you want to get technical), but she's never managed to build on a lasting relationship with her.

If Nina was supposed to be apeshit crazy, then she should've been a short term character and not last as long as she did. If she was supposed to be a long term character, then she should have at least shown some character growth and actually learned to mature and be a better person, and that really hasn't happened, especially after Nixon Falls.

It just feels like a whole massive waste of time to me. It probably would've been better if Nelle was just Nina's kid and she had absolutely nothing to do with Willow. And now I think is a good time for the writers to cut their losses with Nina and have her shipped off to a mental institution for the rest of her life and have nobody mention her ever again.

I'm officially re-pitching my serial killer/hurricane/Lassa Fever II epidemic idea WITH the addition of Nina perishing as she sets fire to the hospital.

There was never a point beyond getting Michelle Stafford from CBS, letting her go nuts onscreen again, and then (at that time) RC thinking she would soar playing a wacky antiheroine/whatever opposite Roger Howarth which proved unpopular. Everything since then has been flailing, including the recast and the musical chairs with the secret kid(s).

Like so many characters currently onscreen, Nina has run far, far longer than she should've on contract simply because FV either didn't want to give up a get from another network or didn't want to invest in new characters or popular returns. It was executive inertia, combined IMO with Maurice Benard taking a shine to Watros and being tired of being paired with LW/Carly. The distaste for the Sonny/Nina pairing has seeped off the screen from the writing team in an unprofessional way IMO, and Mo and Watros do have a smidge of chemistry (certainly more than him and LW) but that's never changed the fact that Nina should not be a 10-year veteran lol. Nor should most of the long-running post-2011 cast. (Ava is a whole other can of worms, but I think she can still run a bit longer.) So many of these people are not needed, especially when you know that Vanessa Marcil among others is out there.

I would suggest that at some point Mo decided he wanted to do ... well, that he wanted Sonny to do her. And for whatever reason that was accommodated. Not saying he always gets what he wants but at least some of the time he does. Now we seem to be past that, so looks to me like the iron is HAWT!

One thing I wish Korte and Mulcahey would correct is Laura being the mayor of PC.  That's...never sounded right to me for some reason.  Especially when I think she'd be more useful running a women's center with Liz or working as some sort of youth/women's counselor at the hospital (or both).

No way. Laura is the center of PC and enmeshed in so many stories directly because of that role. She shows up as part of so many situations all the time specifically because she is 'Mayor Collins'. It feels totally right to me. Laura doing 'social work' offscreen was what kept her bogged down in the late '90s.

    • Thanks. I'm glad they didn't give her a love interest at that time as it would have felt false after Ryder's horrible death.  I can definitely see how Patti would have replaced Liza. Still not sure why they decided to kill off Suzi.

As for recast Ted, I saw him briefly because it's been a busy day, but what little I saw of him...I didn't dislike him as much as I thought I would. Keith felt like Maurice's Ted in a lot of mannerisms and way he had with some things/words. Definitely a different presence from Maurice's Ted, but I still feel like Keith WAS Ted. If that makes sense. Maruice's Ted definitely had a different charisma to him. From the brief scene I saw.   Will probably watch later when I get more time. Sounds like it was a great episode from the parts I've glanced on here earlier.  Speak on it.
    • WOW! So that episode was a repeat, it shows how strong Murder, She Wrote was!!
    • Awesome Yep, you can hook up a VHS player to a smart TV. Alternatively, Amazon sells some VHS to Digital converters that you can use to directly connect the VCR's AV cables  to a USB on a laptop or PC. They cost about 20 bucks. Any questions or need help, DM me!
    • -- "The role of Ted Richardson is now being played by...." I love that throwback to soaps from yesteryear. I know we don't want BTG to be our grandmother's soap, but sometimes Grandma's soaps had it right. -- I was FULLY prepared to dislike Keith D. Robinson as Ted, and I even went through things in my mind that I could say because I was fine with Maurice Johnson and felt bad for him.     However, Robinson was awfully good, especially for Day 1. He's a different Ted, but he's a good actor -- natural and real. People saying Gates "should have gone older" are head-scratchers since Robinson is older than Johnson. -- I expected Bill to be tougher than he was with Dana, THE worst mother of the year on soaps. -- Kat went toe-to-toe in those scenes with Dana. We're all in love with Ambyr/Eva, but Colby/Kat is also killing it. -- Derek and Ashley? I'm turning on Ashley, who can't even pretend to like Derek, let alone love him. Her annoyance with him is overboard, and I'm also annoyed with the show portraying Derek as a Neanderthal -- to the point of putting "Neanderthal" in his dialogue. Every single thing he does annoys Ashley, which makes me wonder what she ever saw in him. I want him away from her. -- Seeing Derek and Ashley in that bed was hilarious. It looks like a single, not something for two grown adults. -- Ashley and Andre are still a no for me -- a big no. I see no reason why he'd be infatuated with her. None. At least Andre got a smile from her, which she didn't have for Derek, even when he wanted them to get a bigger place. Derek, please dodge the bullet.
    •   I LOVED Hennig’s Stephanie. AK is Stephanie in name only. Stephanie was never boring to me.
    • July 2012, Abe organized a gala that was an autism fundraiser in Lexie's honor.  This was the huge event everyone was attending (except Gabi and Melanie in the tunnels).. -- when the gas explosion occurred and the building collapsed.  The "Daysaster" cliffhanger before the Olympics break.
    • I think maybe Andre is subconsciously looking for a caretaker/nurturer in his life to replace his parents. That would explain his attraction to both Ashley (nurse) and Dani (older woman/his aunt's sister). I don't see any chemistry between Ashley and Andre though. In fact Andre and Derek had more chemistry in the pasta night episode than either of them have ever had with Ashley.
    • My only recollection of Ms Felder in Tom Lissanti's book is that she was not well liked backstage, and nobody was aware of rumors that she was fired because of her looks, including the network executive interviewed for the book.
