I remember JJ saying he would’ve renewed his contract during his second series regular run but when he asked JFP for a break on the heavy emotional material she wouldn’t budge. She said she will love him forever & that he is brilliant & funny & he gives his all to both character & to story. She also said GH is lucky. It was the other Nancy, not Curlee, but Williams Watt. I also have messaged with MVJ but everyone knows she & PM are besties who speak daily. She would be intimately familiar with his work. From my earlier post - she and PM were actually Co-HWs at GL for a very short time after Curlee departed.
