The last time I remember seeing Doris honestly was back in 2011 was during the midst of the Volcano death story when Doris berated Sharon right before Sharon faked her deathand then at Sharon’s funeral….did they ever show Doris finding out Sharon was alive or have a reunion? I don’t recall so unless I missed it. Of course there was so much whiplash towards the end of that story@YRfan23

As for this week so far…

Re: Tucker and Ashley having different memories….Lord Tucker’s version was unintentionally comical and felt like a cartoon villain trying to spin things.

Obviously it was classic justification in the case of an abuser and gaslighter….but if his version is the correct one then Josh Griffith needs to be hauled back his therapist again.

Chance/Summer was cute. Remember Chance is Nina’s modest son and not one to throw his Chancellor name around.

Ashley and Cole were a pleasant surprise down memory lane. I think those flashbacks were after Ashley and Victoria’s epic fight at the Embers over Cole one last time. That’s the biggest shame of not having HT for this for the flashbacks.

Actually AH Victoria and Peck, now that he’s found his rhythm aren’t bad at all. I had wanted Cole back at least a decade ago for the 40th anniversary.

I think on paper the Claire scenes in the mental hospital work on paper but as @slick jones pointed out in another thread, I feel like HE comes across as so generic and blank faced. I don’t know who owed HE a favor but it’s becoming obvious a stronger actress was needed.

Drunk Nikki is always classic. I actually liked Brian Gaskill’s Seth from what I saw the other day. Definitely something different. We’ll see where this goes from here.

And one last thing, I loved how we saw ZS Audra turn full blown Latina diva in her scenes with her telling off  Kyle and Tucker. I’d love to see an origin story one day.

Naw, she specifically stated that she'd be available if they wanted her.   She said Jesse (her son) was 15 and only had a couple of years of high school left, and then he would likely be leaving home.  She & Vince had decided they could afford for her to stay home more often during Jesse's last few years of high school, cutting down on the amount of time she spent commuting from Malibu to Hollywood & waiting around in the studio for her scenes to be taped.

She said if the show wanted Ashley full-time, they should recast, but if they were okay with periodic appearances, she'd be happy to oblige as she'd be around and available.  Seems like she took off completely four or five months, then started monthly or semi-monthly appearances.   Jesse is about 20 now, and she appears willing to work more often than when he was 15.

Cole just said, "I'm not ready to write this off as a failure just yet."

CC: "I'm not ready to write this office as a failure just yet."

How many times have they shown this Paris scene?!!

And both versions today had a couple of differences added to them. Most notably for me was in Tucker's version, they had the waiter shoot a look toward Tucker as the waiter walked out past their table. That was new because I specifically noted in prior versions that the waiter kept his back to the arguing couple and did nothing. I loved that Tucker emphasized that there were wait-staff and witnesses all around them.

Good grief, how long are they going to play this out? Until ED/Ashley breaks down and leaves again? This argument in Paris is just so stupid now. Well, I guess I always thought it was going to be a stupid plot point, but come on.  Enough ambiguity.

Lord...the whiplash.

I don't think the playback has been messing up again. But did they just introduced BG's character by random phone call? And then next thing I know Nikki meets him at Society? So far...I watched him acting and it made me think about all the times message boarders here mention CBS acting vs ABC acting. Cuz I felt BG was more...active?...than I'm used to on Y&R. But we will see how I feel as he keeps going?

Meanwhile...when did Audra turn on Kyle?  I thought they were in cahoots still? Perhaps I missed a few lines as it's been in the background as I worked.

And while I was glad to see Ashley/Tucker, uh...are the writers rewriting their fight now? Cuz it seem like that was a real flashback when they first got back to town collectively.

Oh, I saw. But I could have swore that the last time they showed Audra, she was in bed with Kyle and he told her the truth and suggested a power play. So it was just jarring to me. But again, I know there was some episodes I missed on my player...like the one where the Abbotts dropped the Tucker/Audra/Musician dirt...and given the Claire story/Nikki story has gotten the dominant play as of late, I just figured that I missed something.

    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with Eric,a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he smashed into a mirror, dying of glass wounds. So there was a supernatural element. I wonder if the Brody character in the credits was Eric Brody?
