Interesting.  I was watching back then when Nikki was married to Kevin, and she was pregnant, and confiding in Kay, and unaware of the paternity.
I remember all that!  But I didn't know (or hadn't paid attention) to how Victoria got her name.  Back in those days I didn't have a VCR or soap magazines -- so if I missed something, I couldn't find out what I missed.  I must have assumed that Nikki named Victoria after Victor because she loved Victor, even though she was married to Kevin.

IMO, writers should not give characters medical conditions that should always impact the character's traits and abilities, such as Robin with HIV or Nikki with MS. Other than curable diseases, they should only give a character something if it moves a storyline and will have to follow through. Otherwise, it is disrespectful to the viewer dealing with the matter in real life as they see a character doing things they can't do themselves. Just sayin'.

RE: Claire the spoiler is:
Nikki is still captive at Jordan's house. Nikki may not be the only member of the Newman family who is being targeted.  Claire returns to Genoa City and pretends to accidentally encounter Victoria at Newman, and says "omg I just got a call that there's been an accident with Nikki at my aunt's house"

RE: Cole the spoiler is:
Cole "has a surprise reunion with ex-wife Victoria"

The spoiler pics show Cole on the set of Jordan's house.  I wonder if he is there to be creepy and help Jordan?
Or does Cole arrive voluntarily/innocently, lured there under false pretenses and doesn't know why?
Does he instigate surprising Victoria?
Or are both of them surprised?

People really need to accept that Ameila Heinle is in the role of Victoria Newman and won't be cast out for someone else. At this point, she is the longest-tenured actor in the role. Plus, Heinle is not horrible as Victoria when given the right material, and she has not always been given that.

I agree with this. The absence of Nikki's MS is disappointing. Doesn't Maggie on Days of Our Lives also have MS and, I feel like that's ignored mostly, as well. General Hospital does this with Anna's blood condition unless they write-in a random visit to GH for blood work to explain why she's randomly there on a Tuesday.

People genuinely still forget JT's origins and that people can / do change. The Stitch change, however, was deplorable.

For a soap I think GH has handled Robin's HIV pretty responsibly. They'd mention it regularly and it was always a concern whenever she had a medical crisis. And HIV/AIDS treatment has advanced so much in the last 30 years that I think showing someone able to live a fulfilling life was incredibly important.

Colleen Zenk says on SOD website interview that she was contacted by Josh Griffith in early August but has been taping for the past 5 1/2 weeks.

In early August, J.Eddie Peck was at the Y&R/B&B fan club event for former actors.
I bet this is when the combined storyline came together.

    • Not me, I am having withdrawals, I need that soapy drama lol
    • I faintly remember the tv movie where Ted Danson played the lead.. my late mom liked the movie and she also read a few of the novels and enjoyed them.
    • Columbia is the U.S. release. CBS is the international release.

    • Paula and Jeanne’s first time writing Alex and Stephanie. It didn’t seem like there were any changes in Alex at all lol but I can’t help  but think that that’s more on RSW than the writing. I didn’t see a big change with Stephanie either, but I did enjoy her scenes with Kayla, whose character has gotten so much stronger since last week. I hope we get to see a lot more of their relationship, and their relationship with Steve as well. As for Steve and Shawn stealing the drug to try to save Bo, idk. I don’t dislike it, but I just don’t know lol but I also think that it is time for Steve to pass the torch on to the next hero.  And finally, Javi showed some kind of spark! I was a little worried in his first scene today that he was going to continue to be so obsessed with Leo, but him demanding that Leo drop the investigation into Rafe and Gabi could actually be pretty interesting. I don’t think that would’ve happened under Ron. And if we’re forced to endure Javi/Leo, let them at least have some kind of actual conflict, instead of the forced, biased crap that we were subjected to. And speaking of Leo, one year ago today, he got Dimitri’s letter

Btw, why is Gabi so beholden to Javi? Cousin or not, if I was her, the minute he said to her, “If he goes, I go”, I would’ve been like  Also, are they going to go there with Philip and Gabi? I’d prefer that than Gabi getting involved with Alex.
    • She does look good in blue. I wish they'd do more with her hair, change it up the way JMW does now and then
    • Hahaha - this is hilarious (and a ton of wigs at use!). The closing shot!!! LOL
    • Yes. I don't know if Lenore was ever asked. Then it became a nun. Thanks. I didn't realize it was in 1987. That timeline doesn't make a lot of sense even if she would have had Ed to interact with. If they didn't ask her back in 1989 and she was willing, what a stupid error. The attempts at these feuds, or even the whole families tied together stuff like Maryanne Carruthers, never had any real impact because of how depleted the Bauers felt even by the mid '80s. And instead of expanding them, which would have been common sense, various producers were just too lazy, or too ashamed, and kept bringing on other families, or bringing in too many people at one time and not knowing how to write for them (the Spauldings in the McTavish era - as SOD said at the time, everyone in the family had the same personality).
    • Wasn't there talk of them bringing back Rita as Gus' mother at one point? Or something?
    • I think they are a part of the same family, although Carla was never really scheming for the same reasons, and once her double life was exposed, she stopped.
    • Rachel/Ada, Mona/Erica, a mother/daughter at LOVING, these are all examples of the Agnes Nixon "troublesome daughter/put upon mother" trope. Are Carla/Sadie by any chance one of the pairs that make up this trope? Another thing that these 2 shows might have in common. OLTL had a very strong thematic approach to socioeconomic differences between groups of people. Class differences. AW at an earlier point had this too but to be clear it was not as much as OLTL. So that is a similarity but marginal.  Besides that, I see no other comparable things. Paul Rauch was a very different EP at different shows. Oh, I've thought of one more thing. Using actors from the Broadway stage.  But, realistically that was something all of the NY shows had in common. So I don't think it has any uniqueness between AW & OLTL.
