She should do that no matter! I'm patiently waiting on a book out of Jill Lorie Hurst. I wish someone could talk Robin Strasser into writing one!

Right now people are raving about Tom Lisanti's new book on RH. In her review Marlena Delacroix compares his scholarship with Chris Schemering Ency/1985 which is basically as high praise as there can be. Alina Adams just posted a link to her review & she raved in her post of the link. It's on SoapHub.

I think it is toeing the party line. I like them both, but I also think they had the power to speak out when Alarr was there, even if they didn't name him. Things were bad for A LONG TIME, and it's not like there was a bad couple weeks.

These are daytime icons, and they were silent -- and they stayed silent after Alarr was fired. Others with much less agency than they had spoke out. I don't want to punish them, but I'm just not ready to give them flowers for that interview.

I don't think we're in a position to criticize people for not speaking up during Albert Alarr's tenure. I  just believe that to be true of people in hellish employment situations in general, not some special privilege I hold for DAYS  victims.

However, I also think it is completely fine to say nice things about people who do speak up, or who did speak up, and to that end I say Hooray for Ari Zucher & Judi Evans! @ranger1rg Glad you mentioned flowers.

I understand where you are coming from, but these are two actors who were pretty easily dumped 15 years ago.  It could be done again.  At a certain point most people will look out for themselves and own families before telling the world about a bad workplace.  We have no idea what they did behind the scenes at all.  People with much less agency also had a lot less to lose here.  Bless, Judi Evans, but she would lose her 4 appearances a month?  MM will talk about a job she already vacated and left? I am not praising them for their groundbreaking outspokenness, but it's a slippery slope.  They are employed by Days and I am not mad at them for doing promo/interview they probably had to do.  I think there are several people to blame in general for this situation continuing as long as it did, but it's not the on-air talent.

Listen, maybe it will all be told in the Never Say Never Deidre Hall Story Part 2.......

Dee and Drake are on the don't make waves public relations spin circuit. Everything's wonderful. Janet Spellman-Drucker doesn't get a pass. She was there the entire time Alaar tortured that set. Spellman-Drucker couldn't do anything for the 20 years that Alaar allegedly made working conditions hell? She was the next person in line from Alaar so actors & crew must have come to her with their complaints. Don't expect miraculous changes, folks. She seems like an enbler.

Today's episode was not worth the wait.  I like when Brady/Marlena have scenes and that's the only positive.

I can't believe poor BB and CB have to act this story out.

And I can't believe I had to watch two grown men in sheets walk across the Salem Town Square.

Writing an episode where Gabi and Stefan falsely accuse Kristen of child abuse by using makeup on little Rachel, is in very poor taste.

I get that DAYS turns especially silly around Halloween, but this is beyond the bounds of entertainment, and was really gross to watch.

Here's the thing if Ron wants to make a big old parody of a soap he can do that.  As long as I know that's what he is going for.  It's just the tone of the entire show and even this episode is off.  I assume we are supposed to take this Rachel story and the mob stuff seriously.   But we have those two idiots running around the square in sheets with Jada/Harris chasing after them.

I don't even know how to take that.  Even at JER's wackiest he took the show very seriously.  I assume JER is Ron's inspiration here, but he is missing the heart of the show with all this.

Good.

Stefan should have stayed dead and Jake should have never existed. One less useless character taking up screentime.

On the other current topic in this thread, until a male character is castrated and has his penis re-attached upside down, or a character who is half male/half female get pregnant by their own father, we can proudly keep our heads high knowing DAYS is just one step above Passions. But just one at this point...

I was literally actually horrified when I saw where Gabi & Stefan were taking their game with Rachel. Making her a party to accusing her mother of physical abuse is so far beyond any level of "taste"! I cannot imagine people thinking up these ideas & then following through & writing them down! Have they lost their minds?! Do they not have any filters? This is the kind of thing where someone in an odd mood would say, Hey we oughta do this & name something totally outrageous & all have a laugh & that is purged & then they do something realistic instead.

I can definitely see why CB left.  It's just a distasteful story and I can't imagine why Gabi would even do that for some shares or votes or whatever this is about.  She's a mother herself.  A bad one, but it doesn't seem in character.  It's not even like Stefan/Gabi feel Kristen is a bad mom or are firmly on Brady's side.  It's just the only scheme they could think of?

    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • I started a separate thread for the same tribute, but of course it can be discussed wherever. doesn't matter where. Fyi  Jason Cook, Staci Greason, and Eileen Davidson will be there as well as Reckell and some of the current cast Thread for Live tribute to Drake https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn
    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.
