I swear Shawn/Carly danced around a romance for months and months and they were good together.  It got dumped for Carly/Todd right?

I don't remember a lot about Shawn's story and I am still confused how he went from kidnapping Brenda to Sonny/Jason's employee.   I'd take him back in a heartbeat.  I feel like Curtis is a Shawn replacement in a lot of ways.

Kind of, but they backed off it well before that and put her with Johnny for a year. I could swear Shawn and Carly was teased for at least a year prior to that.

And Curtis absolutely is a replacement. They even inherited the same love interest. Both men were disposable.

So Joss is not only a selfish whore, she’s also a stage 5 clinger.

You gotta work pretty hard to have fans be on Michael’s side.

This Gladys and Ms Wu stuff is so pointless

I'll be that guy. @Darn and I have spoken of this in whispers, but while I know Selina Wu is popular with fans... the actress is uh, let's kindly say one-note. She comes off like a dayplayer who fans cottoned on to (which I'm pretty sure is exactly what she is, if I remember her first appearances correctly) and who they then gave too many lines and proved why she was a dayplayer.

I absolutely adore the idea of them bringing the Asian Quarter stuff back, and I was excited when I first heard the Wus were becoming a real factor again several years ago. I'd welcome a lot more AAPI characters. It's so overdue. But this actress as Wu is not it for me. Yet you can't recast because fans love her.

Lmao! I know we joke but I'm telling you that man was more engaged watching Laura exposit about her memories of the Ice Princess than he was about the implosion of his marriage!

*Laura slumped over in her airplane seat discussing the end of the Cassadines* and Curtis is there all *heart eyes.

I didn't watch this show for a number of years so if you had told me Shawn and Curtis were the same person I would have believed you. The ebony to Sasha and Willow's ivory if you will.

Speaking of race-based jokes, Selina Wu's Dragon Lady act isn't just bordering on offensive anymore, it just is. She literally slithers into scenes. Such a bizarre character played by, as @Vee said, a one-note actress.

And they explained but now try and make it make sense, WHY would she care or know about Trina possible being Curtis' daughter? Enough to mess with the DNA results? That's so lame, just so we can have the billionth DNA test result switch in daytime.

Not only should she not care, WE don't care! Because Curtis is a vessel without a purpose, absolutely nothing will change in Trina's life and Taggert has been stripped of his personality. The Taggert I remember would have been right there with Portia in trying to get Spencer away from Trina, he was an eyewitness to Nikolas and Gia! Which they refuse to bring up in any substantial way which is a huge glaring omission since this is history literally repeating itself.

Shawn is way hotter, and a better actor.

Taggert is a lot softer than he used to be, true, but I can buy that re: marriage and family changing him. He was also exactly what Portia needed the night of her wedding and was very good to her. The young Tags wouldn't have played it like that. I think his POV on things is more mature given what he's been through with the women in his life. If Nikolas were still around now though, yes, he and Taggert should have words about it all. And Gia should be back. I'll exchange Jordan for Gia anyday.

I still cannot get over how disinterested Genie looked in him lol. And DT deserves it!

LMAO not deserves it!

And yeah I could buy Taggert changing to that degree over 20+ years but at the same time I needed a hint of "Deep inside I hate this" from his dialogue. But instead he felt like a generic voice of reason.

I have never seen an actor disengage and be completely over his A-story like DT has, but then the minute Genie speaks to him it's like he's a brand new man excited about his job and character and life.  Genie, on the other hand, seems to prefer acting with the baby that plays Ace.

Shawn was definitely the better actor and much sexier and charismatic although if you told me DT was a recast Shawn I would believe you.

Selina Wu is pretty one-note, but her monotone delivery bothers me to no end.  Is that how the actress speaks?  Is it an acting choice?  I find it obnoxious.

I don't know much about the actress and I haven't ever heard her speak in real life, but I wonder if she speaks like a cheesy Bond villian off set.   She sounds bored in every scene she's in.  Which, fair, I'd be bored talking to Gladys too.

She's on the cusp!

Is she supposed to be a mob boss like Sonny? Why is she spending SO much time with small potatoes like Gladys? It's giving obsessed. All this so she can own a garage...

Can someone explain how and why Sasha has enough money to need a conservator? Was Brando wealthy? Is Sasha wealthy? I know she's a spokesmodel for Deception but is she making conservatorship money?

    • I view the Duprees as being very insecure and paranoid about losing their status so they proclaim 'I'm a Dupree' just as much for themselves as their enemies.  I swear Nicole is the Marilyn Munster of the Duprees. And the lack of in-law interactions on the show has always baffled me.  When my parents were alive and we would visit family... my mom had close ties with both of her sister in laws (i.e. she and two other women were all married to brothers) and my dad got along well with his brother in law (Both of them were married to sisters).    So I'm glad that we're starting to get some in law interactions because those relationships are just as valuable as the ones amongst the actual family members.  Jacob/Smitty/Bill/Ted should all have some history/interactions with one another... though I admit I wish there was a hetero Dupree male because than we could have a daughter/sister in law that might not gel/get along with the other Dupree women and is closer to the Dupree men/male in laws.
    • Last I saw she was teaching acting (?) at a college, but that was probably ten-twenty years ago.  She and Michael Levin had immense chemistry. This is one time where all the stuff about what was in character didn't matter to me - pairing them up just seemed like a no-brainer to me. The Joe pairing sapped Siobhan's spirit, and while I liked Rose/Jack, it was clear someone at the show did not.

    • Those are great ideas. That could adapt the whole claim that Gus was meant to be Rita's son. A child born of Ed and Rita and influenced by Roger would be great drama. I should probably have Philip's long-lost son be mid-twenties to make sure he's in a different peer group than Lizzie.  I do think Frank was an easy cut in the show's last decade, but I could at least say he was a good part of the show for his first 5-10 years and had natural relationships with the other Coopers, who were heavy in story. I don't hate Ron Raines, but there were no good times with him for me. He was more suited to Werther's Original ads. He seemed happiest when he got to have sweet scenes with little Lizzie, just doing grandpa stuff. I agree that Amanda returning at that time would have had more of an impact than a stunt cast for Alex. Joan was terrific, but the show couldn't afford her long term, and they needed a strong Spaulding long-term.  Great final moment for Alan. I never knew Taggert planned to bring Alan-Michael back. What might have been...
    • Not to mention, there are an equal number of men versus women in each opening: seven women and five men (including the core four Duprees).
    • Well, the head writer obviously knows nothing about writing romance.  He writes couples, but there is nothing romantic about them.  They just pair-up for a year or so, and then move on to somebody else.   He needs to give us a couple of long-term romantic pairings that struggle to get together, and make mistakes despite their deep love for one another -- couples like Victor and Nicki used to be, or like Doug and Julie, Bill and Laura, Alice and Steve, Rachel and Mac, Holden and Lilly, Tara and Phil, etc, etc.   Everything this dude writes is so superficial and lacks any kind of depth.  Even his silly business plots aren't really plots -- they are just musical chairs for who is CEO here, or there, and then over there.
    • @P.J. No, you are not alone in this. I agree, the writers have overused "I'm a Dupree." I get it, but if they could pace themselves and use the term at more pivotal moments, I believe it would have more impact. Right now, they turn me off. A part of it is that they went the opposite way I felt they should have with the core four, Anita should be our favorite character, and I am sorry she is at the bottom of my list. Why do I care more for Nicole, the daughter who has everything, over Dani, the underdog? Like I said, it's an odd setup that I am getting used to.  I look forward to the in-laws interacting more and bonding away from the Duprees. I already root for Bill and Bradley, I see myself warming up to New Ted soon.

    • A proper recast for Alex, who pulls the strings behind the scenes (and doesnt HATE Amanda like MarjAlex did) would be great..at that point I see her having her fingers in the pie just to make sure it all doesnt go to hell. My rival for Phillip would be my fan fiction of a kid of Ed and Ritas. Somehow Roger got a hold of him, made him think he was Alan's kid ( I would think Rita would push him as someone who could get a piece of the Spaulding) and secretly raised him to HATE Spaulding and work to take them all down...of course the truth comes out that he is Ed's kid, so we have a "bad" Bauer who is Phillip's match, and Rick is stuck in the middle trying to make a relationship with the brother who HATEs his best bud.
    • Does anyone know what happened to her post-RH? She seemed to evaporate after she left the show. Which is why I can believe she said negative things about the show--maybe it got her labeled as "difificult?" I thought she was a very good actress. I liked her performance as Siobhan. She had really good chemistry with Michael Levin. IMO, they were a bit gutless not to go for a Jack/Siobhan romance after Mary was killed off.
