Good shout on Nadine. And Jean Carol gave her such heart. That they threw her away so callously still bothers me.

Celeste on DAYS is another. She could have been an absolutely RIDICULOUS character with that accent, but Tanya Boyd gave her so much depth.

Nadine was such a good example of a "quirky" character. She was not weird for weird sake. She was the random Auntie that you loved sitting next to at parties because you knew you were going to be entertained. She was also a viable romantic lead.

I looooooooved Luna on OLTL. I had never seen anything like her as a kid. And since I was from the South, someone on tv with the hint of a country accent was news to me.

And then...Celeste on DAYS. The beauty. The passion. That accent and fashion! The sophistication that dipped off her. And when it comes to villains, I love female henchwomen so she was perfection. And she gave such an allure of mystery, too. I could not get enough of her growing up.

GH had so many over the years, but my absolute favorite is probably OLTL's Foxy Roxy with her bravado, messiness and humor.  Ilene Kristen is so talented and her character was so fun.  Such a scene stealer!  I never saw her on Ryan's Hope-- was Delia more serious?  That GH cameo Delia made wasn't very interesting, but that's probably due to the writing and the brevity.

Does Marian Colby Chandler count? She was such a caricature, a snob who could even out snob Phoebe Wallingford! For decades, she would sleep with anything breathing with a six pack. I remember at the 25th anniversary Martin Housewarming her sole role was making the young men in the group uncomfortable, "Oh my, is young Charlie Brent!"

As much as I loved Marian/Stuart, I wish she kept more of interloping personality. She was never meant to become a matriarch/ grandmother. She was a trouble maker. I wish there was a place where she could have worked and become the busy body/ pot-stirrer. Like how Pam was the nosy secretary at Forrester Creations on B&B. Maybe she could have become a nosey Hospital Administrator and become the talk-to character for the Angie, Frank, Jake, Cara, Rey, Joe and the other hospital gang. Heck, Opal used to volunteer at the hospital all the time, so she would have her bestie by her side.

I want to love Leanna's return but her performance is so stilted. I think a lot of it is the writing/ directing. She seems to be scheming for scheming's sake. How many times can she interlope and say, "did I just overhear..."

She was a smarter and sharper character in her earlier runs. She was not just a listener/repeater, she was a plotter. Her machinations were memorable. She was the type of character that never needed an excuse to do the wrong thing. Now she's just a nosey yenta.

See below for an example of Leana's quirkiness in full effect:

    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

Newsom is a craven opportunist, but his comments today were exactly how better people need to handle Trump.
