Usually, I’m not a fan of cockblocking but I’m totally here for Chad doing it to Stephanie and Alex. He should’ve brought the kids with him and had a family bonding moment with her right in front of Alex

I see they’re trying to make Alex the good guy by having him not being upset with Chad, but we all know it’s too little too late.

As for Will and Sonny, their scenes might as well have been copy and pasted from Beyond Salem, only with the roles reversed. I almost expected Will to sucker punch Leo.

What has happened to Sonny? Zach Tinker was a breath of fresh air when he first came on, one of the biggest reasons being was that you could tell that his Sonny really and truly loved Will. This is not Sonny. Zach’s been wasted on a horrible storyline that NOBODY wants. If he did walk, I honestly don’t blame him.

I’m sure every single person on this board could come up with a better storyline for Sonny than what we’re seeing right now.

Yep

In 1993, when I was 1. You would think that TV would be less restrictive now than it was when I was a baby

I can help but think if DAYS was a UK soap the Will/Sonny/Chad story would be a major front burner. When confronted with the amazing chemistry between Zack, Chandler and Billy Flynn and combining the complex deep-rooted history all three characters shares with one another, a smart writer and producer would be exploiting that for storylines. The scenario is so good and complicated it could literally write itself. Here you have Chad mourning the death of his wife. He turns to his best friend for comfort and emotional support. As he's getting that comfort, much to his surprise, he's beginning to develop feelings towards Sonny. Feelings that he finds strange but not that all discomforting despite the fact he very much regards himself as straight. At first Sonny is oblivious but soon he becomes aware of it. At first Sonny tries to be rational about the situation, saying that Chad is only having these feelings towards him because of his loneliness. But as time goes on and Chad's feelings become stronger, Sonny begins crumbling, especially b/c he himself is feeling a sense of loneliness with Will being gone. Not to mention there has always been this playful, non-threatening platonic sexual tension between Chad and Sonny. Now that Chad seems to be having feelings for Sonny it's no longer non-threatening nor platonic. It's becoming very real, and it isn't long before both men are exploring their feelings emotionally and just as they are about to explore it physically, that's when Will shows up. And seeing how well Will knows his husband and his best friend, it doesn't take him long to figure out what's going on between them. Of course he's going to feel hurt and betrayed and naturally he's going to fight for his marriage. But at the same time, Will is surprisingly overcome with feelings of jealousy - jealousy that Chad would somehow prefer Sonny over him. And that is just scratching the surface. The complications of this storyline could easily be played out for months

This is great and I even suggested the same thing a while back.

A Spanish soap opera is currently doing this except the guy mourning is gay and has just lost his boyfriend. His best friend from childhood has been there for him. He had a girlfriend who did him wrong but got pregnant. He is now a single dad and has developed feelings for his childhood friend who he's considered a brother. He hasn't revealed his feelings to him but a new guy has appeared showing interested in the gay friend.

The two childhood friends have kissed but the gay guy was so drunk he doesn't remember it. He also kissed him on his death bed when he thought he was losing him due to attempted suicide.

Finally caught up on the show.

The John Aniston tribute brought a tear to my eye. Can’t believe Victor’s final scenes revolve around stupid Leo.

Speaking of stupid, Sonny suddenly being best friends with his former abuser and accuser to the detriment of his marriage and job is STUPID. I do agree though that Sonny should’ve brought up Ben because that was [!@#$%^&*] stupid too.

What made it worse was that it was totally inaccurate, there were no shades of Julia whatsoever.

I've only been a faithful DOOL viewer for a few years now, but I was fighting back tears at Mr. Aniston's tribute. The power of soap opera.

I admit it, Alex got a couple of points from me for being selfless with Chad. But I almost immediately took my points back because I feel like this will all be used against Chad in the future to make him look ungrateful and Alex sympathetic.

Also Leo is too young (and too short ((iykyk)) for that reference.  It reeks of being written rather than organic which instantly takes me out of the scene.

When we last saw Will wasn't he leaving town, just after Sonny's stabbing, while helping to prove Leo's innocence?  Sonny mentions speaking to Will on the phone often, so why is this all a surprise to him?

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
