Do you think they'll give her better writing? No. Give her character more depth? No. Pay her what she deserves? Absolutely not. So what does that make this? The daytime bubble patting itself for being progressive in a way that absolutely will not matter because nothing will change. Y&R knows damn well the stronghold it has on AA viewers and does. Not. I've been watching daytime for my entire life and I've seen the trajectory of black characters and black actors and it has not been good and does not look promising. I'm not gonna let this small victory, a literal gold shiny thing, distract me from how black talent is treated on daytime. Just 3 years ago they refused to pay Mishael her worth and we lost the more interesting of the two characters she's played.
