I guess this means that last year, Frank finally woke up and realized that a Spencer recast was long overdue. I wasn’t sure lol

Not really. Neither of them are synonymous with their roles, or particularly stirring young actors. Violet is obnoxious and needn't exist at all. Leo is more winning because of the adorable, sweet kid and his IRL parallel with the character, but Leo is also a baby that didn't need to exist. Robin and Lucky were lightning in a bottle. People said all these things about Bechtel a few years ago - I'm sure Frank never wanted to recast - but he couldn't hack it and he didn't grow enough. Talent aside, just in terms of maturity it happened to Chris McKenna on OLTL, or Jesse McCartney, who I always wanted back as J.R. on AMC (and would today if it somehow came back - bless him, he has visibly aged enough to make that plausible), and it can happen to anyone.

Just an actor growing up in a part =/= Robin and Lucky. I'd welcome giving Sweda that chance to see if he can, but none of those other young kids on the show have distinguished themselves on GH so far nearly as much as anyone mentioned from the past. The only exception and close comparison is Hudson West as Jake. He's been more talented than half the under-30 cast for years, and they barely use him.

Absolutely,  it’s rare for child actors to be amazing as children and adults and those are the only two I can think of from GH. I know they attempted Lucky recasts but there’s a reason people are still asking JJ to come back on all his Insta posts, now a solid 12 years after his reprisal.

Original Spencer was annoying and NC is fantastic so far.

I agree.  Also people like Finola and Tristan also protected KMc and kept at least one recast at bay for Robin.  Plus Robin and Lucky were not just there for the sake of kids being there.  They were on all the time and had lots of scenes as kids.  I know the same little girl had played BJ for a long time when she was killed, but it wasn’t the same as Robin.  That is part of why them having her be HIV+ was such a shock.  This was Robin Scorpio we were talking about, not since Laura had the show had such an important  younger lead. And I’m not saying people all loved her- they didn’t and don’t.  But her place on the show was important.

It's ridiculous. He and his mom have a history of being extra, but he's like 15. Aging soap fans don't need to ride herd stanning for Chavez over that little boy. Touch grass.

    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Many thanks to @skylark and @DRW50!
    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
    • I genuinely thought when they said she had been throwing up, we were going to get a pregnancy story. I’m actually not convinced we aren’t. Especially the way she and Doug danced around her own infidelity.
    • Shouldn't it be the other way? I don't think Taylor Hayes is playing Rebecca Budig.

    • And the most detailed discussion I've seen from an industry figure about some of JFP's worst choices as a producer (steamrolling over writers) was from another woman, Megan McTavish.
    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.

    • Opal having siblings could add to the story. However, it raises questions about Tad's adoption. Why were the Martins allowed to adopt him if Tad had aunts or uncles who could have cared for him?  Logic limited the number of possible Gardner's (and whatever Opal's maiden name was).  Even though Linda Thorson would have been a hysterical choice given her British accent.  Especially because SOD often published questions by readers who wondered why Tad and Jenny didn't speak like their mother.   All of which is still not an excuse for Tad's evil doppelgänger Ted.
    • And if I remember correctly, at one point, they were considering having Linda Thorson play Opal's sister.
