As always, not the show’s biggest problem, but when will they update the intro with new cast? Courtney Hope has been on the show for what seems like years and hasn’t been added. Now they have Connor Floyd, Rory Gibson, Kelsey Wang, Susan Walters, et al. Are they that cheap? B&B is super quick with updates these days.

They are playing Allie as a naive Mary Sue. She can’t be this dumb. Feels totally plot-driven.

When Mal Young updated the opening, part of the reason was so it could be updated easily. You can see that when Eileen,Beth or Lauralee appear they are included in the opening.

They need to get the new actors to do a quick pose so they can be included.

The show is so incredibly cheap these days.

I sometimes have that "I've-seen-it -already" attitude about rewatching night time soap episodes. But as for daytime, I wouldn't mind rewatching stuff that aired about once 25+ years ago. Given all shows crap state, I wouldn't be so eager to see the new content.

Same. Totally. Especially when you see how beautifully produced and written it was. Even if some viewers were invested in this crap current show, you’d somewhat assume they’d enjoy the flashbacks, given that they were rarely aired and realizing the show was shut down due to a *global pandemic.* But nope! “Waaaaah, where’s the new stuff?”  Pandering to that audience really holds the show back.

Well at least they're enjoying the show lol. Ignorance is bliss in a sense, you wouldn't know how terrible the current show is if you haven't watched earlier material. I loved Y&R having began watching in the mid 00,  until I realized how much better it was in the 80s and 90s from seeing oldies on youtube.

That last time I am pretty sure the show updated the opening I am sure it was to add Mark Grossman and dump Loren Lott.

The Diane story has at least brought some life to this show instead of the usual “Who is going to run Newman-Locke”,  “Who is going to listen to Billy’s podcast?” and “Who’s house is Dominic going stay in tonight?” crap we’ve been getting for months now.

I've said it before and I've said it again...I've been LOVING all of these flashbacks during Diane's return. Whoever went and found them so deserve a bonus. They have been so specific and worthy and definitely would not have been easy to find so I'm all for them getting. I did not see all of the Diane/Jack/Phyllis triangle Round 1 so some of them flashbacks have been eye opening. Like the Phyllis skinnydip one...and the one where Phyllis comes up to see Diane stroking Jack's hair as he plays with young Kyle. They have been oh so priceless.

It is definitely clear that the writers are invested in this story...even if the story of how with Deacon and the cropse was eye rolling. There are beats that are surely being played. Twists like Phyllis still hating Diane, BUT willing to be the voice of reason in the situation (and we know I don't like Giggly Heffa, but credit where it's due). And the foreshadowing scene with Ashley, Traci, and Billy about Allie, not realizing that Diane is slowly but surely about to come back into their lives...excellent.

But since they are clearly invested in the Diane returns story, it shows (pun unintended) in the other stories how not invested they are...cuz Nate changing careers...that is nothing but lip service. It would be something if Nate clearly was conflicted. Or what if Olivia showed up and disapproved which put her in conflict with Lily or Devon because they felt it was a slight to Neil's memory? Noah falling into a depression has potential, but again that (like Chance's PTSD) is soo undercooked. Not to mention a lot of telling and not showing. The writers did not show Jack calling Kyle...a missed beat...but I STILL feel they are more invested in that story than Nate, Chance, or Noah...and they are the next generation.

In fact, the only other story I feel the writers are focused on is Victoria's revenge on Ashland. And even that felt half-hearted given the great intervention scenes of Victoria vs everybody. Oh....off screen Victor pulled some strings to keep them in town. Oh...ok. However, we let AH play what she plays well...an ice bitca...and she hits Ashland where he hurts? But...time will tell.

P

Phyllis is responsible for just as much (or more) s**t than Diane so her taking any kind of moral ground is nonsense.

I get the feeling that the D stories -we go from A to D on this show - are basically written to fill in airtime and give the rest of the cast something to do week to week.

Job changes, health scares, misunderstandings etc

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
