Josh Griffith interview from SOD: a whole new YR

An interview with Josh where he reveals his plan for a different era in GC.
Diane is back for a couple of months (at least at the time this interview took place that's the plan).
It is being used to solidify the Abbott family. They were splintered and Josh wanted to bring them back together so they look into the family's history for unfinished business and they thought about bringing in another gen.
By resurrecting the character they wanted to tie her back to Abbotts since last incarnation she was more connected to Newmans.
Jack and his connection to Keemo was first half of mystery and now Diane. Also it's to cause conflict with Phyllis.

They didn't include alive Keemo in this because they didn't want the story to be predictable. If they reunited Jack and Keemo the question would be then what? That felt more like resolving the story than a new beginning. Allie instead is the new start of the story. There will be a lot of twists to this story that will come out.

For Allie through finding the Abbotts she finds herself. Then there is the element of why is she estranged from her mom? She'll come into this very cautiously and she'll have wonderful journey to take.

With Diane's return, Nikki will be relieved she didn't kill her but at the same time still want to kill her. It will be a slow simmer that will be building.
Diane won't only be mixing with Abbotts. Victor will have some choice words for her.
Josh was asked how will Diane feel with people not being happy with her return.
He says she will tune out the noise cause she just wants to make amends with her son. However silencing the noise and making amends with Kyle will be easier said than done.
The emotional aspect of the story will be Diane's desperate desire to make up for all those years to Kyle. Kyle will have to decide if he can forgive that. It will not be easy for him.
Was asked if she shed her troublemaker ways?
Josh says she wants to change for Kyle but has she really?
Josh has been working towards establishing three influential corporate arenas i.e. Newman/Locke and Chancellor with Hamilton/Winters, Jabot as the temple of power in GC. Now it will have real conflicts and battles. He defines Y&R as clash of the titans.
He believes this is what Katherine and Neil would have wanted as their legacies.
He turned Nate into a corporate suit because it will give him of a central role. If they're talking about clash of the titans a doctor won't fit into that and he wants Nate to be that.
He thinks the Sally and Adam dynamic is delicious.
There is more to come for those two and Chelsea is a wild card because Adam/her have a son, Chelsea doesn't like Sally so there's a lot to play there.
He was asked about Rey and Chelsea. He says it's going to get complicated and there will be unexpected turns lol.
Interviewer says cop and con woman would be interesting. Josh rebates reformed con woman at least for now.
Interviewer says now that Ashland has admitted his lie his days seem numbered no? Josh says this still has mileage, we don't know how much more. Never underestimate the power of love. That's all he'll say.
Ashland will bring up Victor's bad actions in the past. He will tell Vikki he did all these bad things but he fell in love with her.
RN direction with Ashland has spun the story even further than Josh expected. There's a lot more coming.
There's going to be twists to the Chance story that we don't see coming.

Agree.  There were definitely ways to bring back Keemo, reunite him with the rest of Abbotts AND still keep spinning suspenseful story from that.

And will somebody please tell those idiots that Kay was not a businesswoman?

Now, Jill living alone at the Chancellor Mansion, drunk off her ass 24/7 and screwing every stable boy in sight - THAT would be the legacy that Miss Chancellor would want to leave behind, lol.

It just makes me irritated that the scion of the Abbott family is considered so disposable, especially after avoiding even mentioning him for 25 years like he was fûcking Beetlejuice. Why did JG bring back Adam? That story was done and dusted.  There were plenty of dynamics to dig into with both Keemo AND Allie. Keemo was a complete blank slate they could have taken in any direction. They could’ve even included Diane in that story if they wanted.

Adam is also kind of ancillary now. Not as much as, you know, Nick, but what tremendous story has Adam driven since his latest return? I'll wait.

Grossman is well cast for Adam's actual age, but a lot of characters are only still around because Y&R and Sony/CBS feel they must 'always' be around. If they thinned the herd maybe he wouldn't feel like an extra piece atm.

Again, the idea that they won't bring back Keemo because PB vetoes it doesn't have much proof. He complains a lot but I don't believe he can or would veto that. I think only Braeden has that power or wields it.

    • And then to break the trend, Thorsten Kaye (German-British) on OLTL.
    • @ReddFoxx I adored Eva and Leslie's fashions. Bringing back the 80s, LOL.

They're different characters, for sure. Dani is a "Have" but she still has the underdog, aspirational element, and yearning, for Independence. Similar to Erica Kane. When the show gets to digging into Anita's career; I want them to reveal more unresolved issues between the two. I would find it believable for someone like Dani to have grown up with resentment and complex issues being surrounded by BRILLIANCE from every corner.
    • So yesterday I wandered off on a tangent about Elvis Presley, off the top of my head. Probably no one cares but I want to correct facts. Elvis Presley did have a twin who was stillborn. They named him Jesse Garon Presley & in a level of their emotional life he was very real to Elvis's mama & to a lesser degree to Elvis himself. I will now return you to your regularly scheduled discussing post-Ron prattle.
    • They are the absolute stars for me. I’m delighted every day that my feelings about them from the special on the show, turned out to be that and so much more. I genuinely feel episodes are better when they’re featured. This cracked me the hell up especially with Leslie listening

. This episode was so good, I will be rewatching when I get home tonight. THIS was classic soap opera.
    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
