IKR?  I keep thinking about what Ron Carlivati said at the start: that he didn't know how to approach revisiting this story until he realized that the devil was just another villain.  Talk about being led in the wrong direction, lol.

Johnny is supposed to be a filmmaker, right?  If he is supposed to be a filmmaker, and he has been possessed by the devil, then why isn't the devil exploiting Johnny's filmmaking abilities to spread his message(s) and win souls everywhere?  Why does the devil even BOTHER with DiMera Enterprises?

As I've said COUNTLESS times, I really don't approve of telling stories about demonic possession, especially on a daytime soap opera that, for the most part, has never been a supernaturally-based show.  (Heck, I don't think this would have belonged even on DARK SHADOWS, lol.).  But, if you're gonna tell this kind of story, then tell it right!

We live in very polarizing times.  We have become more tribalistic than ever before.  If the devil didn't sow the seeds of our current state, then he is certainly working overtime, figuring out ways to exploit it.  THAT should be the message of Ron Carlivati's story: that the devil is busier than ever; and that, to quote Reba McEntire, we gotta give this world back to God.  Instead, it's like we're watching the worst teen sex comedy imaginable, with a possessed Johnny panting after Gabi like some damn cartoon dog, which is a form of Hell even the devil himself wouldn't want unleashed.

I like Chanel/Abe.

I feel bad because I actually think Tripp deserves better.  He's a pretty great (if not extremely boring) guy.

As much as I have previously derided the Craig stuff, I am willing to see this one out.   I mean I know where it's going but what Craig said into the phone was pretty innocuous.  He can easily say he was on the phone with a patient and then Joy called.  That's what I would do lol.

So I get Marlena's desire to apologize to Paulina.  That's fine she broke her medical oath, but Paulina was also in the wrong.  It came out at the wrong time and in the wrong fashion, but Paulina played with a lot of lives and is very poor me about it. I just have a hard time feeling that bad for Paulina on this.  If Days was going to do this right Marlena would be at risk of losing her medical license, but it's not playing out like that at all.  Anyhow it's on brand for Marlena to do an apology tour, but it's very out of order.   You think Marlena would apologize to Belle first.

Anyhow, I am glad Johnny is being held accountable for the movie.  You can't just up and not do it when you made commitments.  I know TR is evil, but like that's real life JoDevil.  I was kind of laughing at Coates making all those cracks about Marlena being a grandma.  Like sir, you are not a swinging guy in your 30's exactly.  I get that it's ironic because he's actually a grandpa, but it made me laugh for some reason.

It is kind of ridiculous Tripp can't find a girl.  He's very dull for soap standards, but any women or man would be banging down his door in real life.  But Rafe's got women always after him?  That's more unbelievable than anything lol.

It seems like such a no brainer to cast Joy and throw her into the Johnny/Allie/Chanel/Tripp stuff, so of course it won't happen.

I'm still confused why Theo can't be on the canvas full time anymore. They clearly like the recast. He's only related to the DiMeras and Carvers so he can date absolutely anyone on the canvas. And they really had him get done dirty by Ciara/Claire/Allie and he still went off back to South Africa with nu-Claire.

    • Overall I was impressed with this week and fall out from the revealation.  I am looking forward to seeing the Nicole/Dana showdown next week.  I do wonder if June is going to be tied to Hayley.
    • I thought Adam and Sara got married? Although I do not remember any mention of her when Adam returned for Blake's weddings. But MA certainly got the short end of the stick storywise, as Marland's obsession with therapy reared it's head.
    • Didn’t Meg Bennett return to SFT as a writer in the last few years. I always wondered if they tried to get her back as Liza.
    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
    • This is as good a time as any to point out that the 90 minute show was, what I like to call  "cockamamie idea" of Fred Silverman, head of NBC Daytime Programming. He did so well at ABC & CBS but not so NBC. We learned this from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay, 2006, can be found on YouTube, audio only. Now, to be clear, Rauch was completely behind it. Only Lemay fought against it & eventually quit over it.
