Agreed.

In terms of Days, Dena was the worst. She's lucky she had Chris Whitesell during her second run; he actually made her look good

I *believe* John said it was because MarDevil's power was weakening and that's why it couldn't easily break out of the ropes.

Is this all of GV we are going to see?

It really wasn't an exorcism it was like 4 scenes of trying and poor Eric didn't even get a flashback with Marlena lol.

This can't be the end of all the devil stuff.

And to be on the opposite side of pretty much everyone, I don't think the show is that bad.  I already knew the Devil story was going to be crap so it's fine, but I am actually finding the show more watchable than it was a few months ago.  I don't love any particular story, but day to day it seems to flow better.

How dumb is Lucas? He's not even a good villain. How Sami can't tell it's Lucas that kidnapped her is just ridiculous. Lucas sh!ts in his pants everytime his co conspirator is mentioned. He even looks guilty.

Anything is better than Dena Higley, on any program. Ron is capable of great work, but this isn't it and he hasn't been at his peak in a long time. Part of that is on the state of the industry, the show, the budget, the time and part of it is simply him.

That is true ^^

There are some things that are beyond his control, and I accept that but there are other things (Laura's death, Calista, Kristen in a Sarah mask) that are just so pointless and unnecessary that you have to say Wtf?

I'm not surprised. You can see it in everything he writes.

That's why I say imaginative as hell but no taste. He's too un-self-aware to know when he's taken it past the edge. Too stuck in his ego to recognize his frailties. He needs a co-HW who shares his vision with better taste.

Quan? I dunno.

I agree minus the devil story.

Ron has crafted a fun version of Salem with a solid foundation that's come together nicely.

There's a lot of potential and I never thought I'd say that when I gave the show up years ago but a co-HW is a MUST. He needs guidance and an ego check.

This reminds me of the whole Franco saga where Lucas was even worse at hiding his guilt.
Which is adorable but also going to be irritating very quickly. Not happy about Lucas doing something out-of-character like this, even if I accept the Devil's interference, but I would be even less happy if they turn Sami into an idiot as well.

That is indeed the correct diagnosis.
The minute they said they would revisit the posession I said I was worried that RC had only *heard* and seen tidbits of the posesion and would take the camp elements of it without understanding the heart and subtext behind it. I didn't even like it the first time but at least there was some earnestness on Reilly's part. It was camp and bad at times but he was telling a story, not a months-long wink-wink nudge-nudge series of jokes.

Yep.

I shotgunned that campaign to get her tossed in 2010 or so. I can't remember the year. We got rid of her once and she popped back up like the Babadook after terrorizing other shows. Was she Corday's side piece or something? I still can't fathom it.

Pretty mean to flood phones to get somebody fired but damn. Her disordered thinking shouldn't be allowed to write ketchup packet instructions.

    • Thanks for that. It was great to see her in an interview. She's very likable. Although it was somewhat confusing. What new soap is she talking about going on audition for in 1973. Was it The Young and the Restless? The editing around that part was weird and choppy. I felt like there was a chunk missing or something. And I'm not sure why she was saying she got colorectal cancer from HPV and said it's because she never got the HPV vaccine but then said she's never had anal sex. I'm not a doctor but that didn't seem to make any medical sense. I don't know. Maybe I'm tired. It just seemed like some of this interview didn't make sense.
    • If it helps any, the last script cover from the Elman papers that I have is from episode #3,736 airdate November 15, 1977. Writers are the Hollands with Frank Salisbury.
    • B&B really does look incredible. The lighting and the polished sets have made a significant difference how visually appealing the show is now.
    • I found the problem with the Labine era was that the show lost some humour when the Labines came on and it could be dull. They also didn't seem to understand some of the characters. As others have said, it looks fantastic in comparison to the next regime but I just remember boredom being the primary response.
    • Something I didn't realize: Frank Ashmore, who played Monica's investigator Corrigan in 1981, was also Victor, the third guy in the cockpit, in Airplane!
    • Thanks, maybe I will skim through those episodes.  I have previously binged late 1985 through early 1987; April-June, August 1992 (I skipped Carlo Hesser murder trial), Jan-March 1995 and I began watching in 2006. I just struggle to stay consistent with routines especially binging routines haha
    • I could've sworn we went over the Bobbie thing a while ago, and saw her introduced to Rick and Lesley as "Nurse Barbara" in very late '77? Or was that early '78? I know the clip is online. Jackie always credited Marland with creating her IIRC.
    • Thanks.  Loon Lake - very on the nose. With that "dad" outfit Bo looks even more like Cassie's father...
    • Luna parachutes herself into Llanview at the end of September 15th 1991.
    • That lengthy flashback does make me wonder if she threw out a lot, but I agree it may have been too easy an urban legend. Would these have been her very first episodes? I imagine you could feel the big difference when Bobbie arrived, alongside the Quartermaines filing in, the return of Heather, and Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan heating up. It does remind me that there must have been some dud moments in the 60-minute format we just don't see because little of the period is available in full.  I wonder how much longer the Dantes lasted under Marland.  David Hamilton is so disgusting. I appreciate the show making him disgust as some shows when they have stories about older men or women manipulating teens aren't as honest.  I can't see this Rick being friends with him. Chris Robinson's Rick, on the other hand, I could believe.
