I don't think they have, but I could have missed it.  To be fair, it's rarely mentioned by anyone these days.  When you think about they are completely awkward because they share multiple siblings as well (Kristina, Leo).  They are really more creepy then the time they tried to pair Brenda/Dante, but Sam doesn't have any feelings for Sonny and it was a lifetime ago in soaps.

I may be in the minority, but I like them.   They aren't setting the world on fire with chemistry, but I think they are cute.  I may just be happy for anything that is not Jasam though.

I haven't seen enough of them - they  seem alright here, and I have generally liked Sam more than most (although Kelly Monaco seems to be...not having the greatest last few years...). It just sticks in my  head when I think of them together.

So whatever happened with Dante and Lulu anyway?

No it's weird.  I get it.  You are not wrong. Just like I am super creeped out Alexis/Sam both had Sonny's children.  I am just not sure if the show wants to bring it up, but I assume Dante is aware at least.   I have never liked Sam at all, although I loved Dante when he first appeared, but it feels like both characters have been mopey for years.  I hope this changes it.   Neither Dante nor Sam have a ton of options right now lol.

Lulu is in a coma due to a mob bombing, IIRC. In a facility out of state. I believe her would-be post-Dante suitor, a teacher played by Mark Lawson, also died in the bomb? DZ came back before Rylan was fired/quit - Dante was in a psychiatric facility trying to undo some sort of supervillain brainwashing for awhile - and I believe Lulu was prepared to go back to him or had gone back to him before the bombing.

DZ and Kelly Monaco is a pairing on paper I think could work, but everything I have seen of them together is written and presented in the most grating way possible - from the embarrassing sports outfits and company baseball game shenanigans to her constantly yowling and the terrible face work she's had done making her look very old. If they had actual adventures like in her very, very early days and didn't base everything around her showing out like she's still 25 and a rebel, I might be a little more into it. You know things are rough when Rebecca Herbst propping up Easton #4 is a more appealing pairing.

I think that part was just to give him some work, though he is not acting full-time now AFAIK. I don't think it was ever going to lead that far.

I think Lulu should be around for Laura but they've completely botched the character for at least a decade.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.
    • Of course!

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.

    • Ms. Phelps holds a BFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, awarded in 1972. At a time when women were underrepresented in directing programs, she was one of the few women in her graduating class. To suggest that she possessed no further talents than completely changing the style of music used on soaps seems like a vast underestimate when one reads her online biography through an objective lens. I guess that I should be more clever than to constantly blame misogyny for these misguided interpretations of her management style.  But, I'll never comprehend why fans unquestionably align their opinions even years after fact. Post-modernism, and the ability to reinterpret context through the study of history, seems to elude this conversation.

    • This is 100% correct.  It was even on the nightly news where the US Government would not let the cast and crew travel to Egypt because it was deemed not safe.  The Achille Lauro hijacking took place on October 7, 1985, when the Italian ocean liner MS Achille Lauro was hijacked by four men representing the Palestine Liberation Front off the coast of Egypt, as she was sailing from Alexandria to Ashdod, Israel. The location shoot was probably scheduled to be filmed in mid-October to air throughout November with a two week tape to air date.  Remember on the show they did some in studio scenes doubling for Egypt before shifting the action to Arizona.  It was an awkward end to a truly bizarre storyline.

New episode from late 1973 or early 1974!
    • Coronation Street had a very good story where one of the characters befriended a man who she later learned had been involved in her husband's death - when told right it can be very powerful (not like AMC trying to make it a romance). ATWT almost had a big fire in mid-1994, so this seemed to be a "thing" with P&G at the time. I guess it fits the disaster backstage atmosphere.
    •   @jmgaw did not refer to Luke and Laura. Throughout 78 GH's ratings continued to rise as AW's fell. That turnaround was getting a lot of attention in the soap press with Scotty/Laura, Rick/Leslie/Monica etc . So the 90 min decision was a reaction to that. I guess the thinking was that 60 min expansion had worked so starting AW a half hour before might keep viewers from switching to GH at 3pm. I don't think anybody really thought it would work. The most sensible solution would have been to expand The Doctors and hope for a GH like turnaround, but for reasons unknown TD never went to an hour.
